First visit and we will be back! Went for a birthday celebration. The restaurant handled our large group very well. From the follow-up call to confirm our reservation, to the last “good night,” just stellar service. The food was wonderful; most in our party had some variety of mussels pot, all of which were delicious. The steak frites was also a big hit, and the desserts were rich and yummy. The only caveat I would offer is that the restaurant is small, so can be a bit noisy - not a problem for our group, but might be for some. Otherwise, cannot say enough good things about this delightful place!
The food of this restaurant is supposed to focus on mussels. This was the main reason of our booking. Two of us took red devils mussels. It was a disaster. This restaurant know nothing about mussels grading and the mussels we had on our plate were far too small. In addition the so called "red devil" was not spicy. Never again. This restaurant is not on our list anymore .
This was ur first time at MP and we found the place to be European-like in decor and the food was excellent. The only thing detracting from 5-star was I thought the mussels were very small compared to others I have eaten. The broth was as billed....spicey and it was indeed delicious
The worse experience ever the waitress was trying to serve us a different bottle of wine, the mussels pot was so hot that I got burn in my fingers, waitress spray my fingers with soothing spray but instead got my face, will never go back again.
Best in Olney, great value. Always special, you can get it togo too.
This restaurant has classic Belgian cuisine and then some. Great beer and wine list and very good table service. It is a one of a kind intimate restaurant that is so typical of the restaurants in Europe. The food is very good and has a great beer list as one would expect in a Belgian restaurant. SUnday to THursday there is a pixe fixe menu at 34.99 that is worth every penny. This restaurant is unique in the Washington area and definitely one that I would return to.
This is our second time going and we enjoyed it as much as the first. My wife is already talking about what she will have on our next visit.
I've been here a few times now and it's been a great experience every time. The staff is attentive. There are always different, authentic Belgian entres available. Their weekly special is a great deal for a three course meal.
This is also the only restaurant that I've been to with this many wonderful Belgian beers.
I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant.
Delicious dinner with a European restaurant ambiance.
Best mussels ever!! Been there a few times and each time I have had great service and great food.
Everything was , as usual, excellent. We've been several times and always had great food
and service. The ONLY drawback is the seating/tables are a little tight (but I guess that's
part of it's charm anyway!)
I had heard wonderful things but had never tried before. After a wonderful event g with an amazing bouillabaisse and an attentive and informative waiter, I will definitely be back.
Certainly worth a visit if you enjoy Belgian food. The escargot appetizer is one of the best I have had. The options of mussels pots are exciting. Plenty of other options for those who do not enjoy mussels.
This restaurant reminds me of several good Belgian restaurants in Brussels. I recommend it for anybody who likes good Belgian food and great beer.
As always it was fantastic! Food is amazing and the service top notch.
We've continued to enjoy the ambiance and food over the years. Pomme frites are excellent as well as mussels, desserts, beers & wine. While ownership has changed several times, Mannequin Pis maintains its niche.
Amazing food and great service. Simply unlike anything around. Definitely a hidden gem.
Manequin Pis is a local gem ...the mussels and frites are exceptional, and the sea bass is wonderful . We also had the potato and leek soup and frisee salad, which could not have been better. The chocolate terrine is one of the best desserts around. ..make sure you try it!
Mussels were great. Beer was great. There was only one server on & it got busy, but he was still attentive & very nice.
This time the food was not so great. Probably because it was Valentine's day and the restaurant was very crowded, the food was not elegant like usually is.
Food is always good and hot. It can be special event or not during the week
Overall the food was excellent albeit pricy. However, the service was not commensurate with a restaurant in that price range. We were continually wondering where our waiter was so we could order more drinks, etc. They also ran out of the dessert special rather early which was A little disappointing.
Food and service was great, again. In the past we've dined with friends at Mannequin Pis, but this weekend was just the two of us. Unfortunately, the tables for two are tiny and really close to one another. I'm not a big fan of the "european" or family-style eating and being so near to my table neighbors was really off-putting. I relaxed a little after a delicious beer; the chance for my desired quiet, intimate dinner long gone. We'll of course go back but only in a party of 3 or 4.
Our server was extremely knowledgeable and made great recommendations. Love this place.
Food is always excellent. Great night for mussels and much more. Pot du chocolat for dessert is a must!
Food was exceptional. That is the only saving grace for getting three stars versus zero stars. Parking is horrible with a small lot. The restaurant is cramped. Imagine your living room with 10 two top tables in it. Many tables could not get in and out of without asking the person next to you to move. Service was less than marginal. No waiters, just servers/busboys. We had to flag someone down every time for a drink refill. I had an iced tea which never got refilled so I just drank water. The food is awesome which explains why this place was packed and had at least 10-20 people waiting to get seated at any given time. I would recommend to anyone as the food was great but do not come here if you are in a hurry, expect great table service, like private conversation, or claustrophobic.
I was impressed with the service and delicious food.
Great food in an intimate and casual atmosphere. Have dined there on several other occasions, and never disappointed. Mussel pots are the best !
This is our "go to" restaurant for celebrations. The staff is always very accomodating and professional. The mussels and the beer are always great. On this trip, I requested that rather than bring a cake for dessert, that a Delirium Tremens beer be brought with a candle in it. The request was carried out to the delight of all patrons, who sang happy birthday to my wife.
Everything was great. The food outstanding; service excellent; atmosphere lovely. We always have an excellent experience at Mannequin Pis.
The restaurant wasn’t crowded so I can’t speak to what it’s like when it’s busy. Our waiter was incredibly polite, attentive, and thoughtful. He provided a fantastic service. The food was excellent. We enjoyed the escargot and then the boules of mussels. The escargot has a little too much cheese for my liking, but was still tasty. The mussels were excellent, cooked well, and were served in a savory broth. All-in-all, it’s great place to go for a casual dinner out.
Nice New Year’s Eve fixed menu
We were a table for two seated practically touching another table for two, which made the entire meal kind of uncomfortable for us (and them as far as I could tell). We could hear their entire conversation even though they were quiet. The service was not good considering the price. The food on the other hand... I'd say mine was fantastic and matched the price we paid; my date's did not.
Wonderful Xmas eve dinner with family. Amazing food, great service, just great!!
We’ve been eating at this remarkable little gem of a restaurant for the last 12 years, though the faces have changed the food hasn’t. The food is as good as it has always been; the service is efficient, the servers are polite, well spoken, and helpful.
You can’t go wrong!!
Food was not great. Wondering if ownership changed.
Excellent restaurant. Great belgium- international food.
Seafood plate was excellent, bread was also very good. I missed more Belgian chocolate sauce on the profiteroles, to make them perfect. Friendly service. A little difficult to find, as it is hidden in an alley.
Great food for the season - and to go with the many Belgian beers on offer. The sausages were memorable. The fish was awesome. The beef stew was good, but clearly made from steak scraps - very different bites in the dish. But all good.
The food, service and the restaurant were all great. We'll be back.
