Manitou Grill & Event Center
The server, chef and manager could not have been more accommodating or plesant. The high top table was not expected and inconvenient for my 88 year old mom. We asked for a regular table but none were availble even though I saw empty tables. The only food item that was not good were the augratin potatoes. They we're rubbery. Everything else was really good.
We were looking for a quiet place to have lunch with friends from out of town. It was the perfect location to meet and the restaurant served the purpose for our meal and visit. The waiter was good about telling us about the specials and checking on us without being intrusive. He did take a picture of our four person group and was very nice about doing it. The food was good. I would recommend the restaurant to anyone looking for a place to have lunch in the area.
Everything about this place makes you want to come back. On this particular trip, two of us each had the Mac and Cheese with lobster and lo and behold there was actual lobster. Very good. The servers are just great!
Too loud. Service was adequate as was the food. Nothing special.
Good food and great service. The hard=surfaced bar area sends too much noise into the dining room.
I chose Manitou specifically for a gathering for my birthday because of the good food, the good service, that I could get a reservation and because I like it! Our server was friendly, patient and did a great job!
We ordered the Bruschetta and was very disappointed. The toasted bread was ok, it was a little warm, but the tomato/cheese topping had been dumped on a plate from something that looked like a cup. You had to make the bruschetta yourself and it had way too much tomato and not enough cheese. Very messy.
We also ordered the Reuben sandwich which was awful! The corned beef was cut into big chunks between two pieces of bread. The beef tasted old and not made like a typical Reuben sandwich.
Won't rush back.
A little trouble with the appetizer being over cooked. Sent it back and the manager along with the wait staff was very apologetic, it came back as it should have and tasted good!
There were a few things happening this evening, a twins playoff game and a wedding in the upstairs event center. Kind of an odd place to have a boisterous crowd for a twins game. When we left, the patrons were outside the back side door smoking, we had to walk in the middle of the crowd of smokers and no one seemed too interested in moving out of the way for us. Very uncomfortable situation let alone having to walk through a cloud of second hand smoke.
We have been to Manitou many times over the years, the menu is somewhat eclectic, Irish Food, Italian entrees, a few steak options, some comfort food options, burgers, lighter fare of soups and salt combos. They used to have a terrific chicken pot pie but it is no longer offered, which is why we always went there, now its kind of hit or miss if we go there, only as a third resort.
Bring back the pot pie and we may be regulars again.
Very pleasant atmosphere. The food was very good. We came in part to hear some music and were not disappointed. Skilled guitarist who could also sing well played mostly 60-70's acoustic stuff. We had a fun evening!
Due to a change in our reservation (24 hours prior) we were not able to be seated in a regular chair or booth. I was told when the reservation was changed that I would not have a choice of seats BUT we would not have a high table as one of my guests has double knee surgery and is unable to climb up.
Always good food, but if crowed the noise can make it a pretty miserable place to be.
We had a great evening with good service on the patio where we moved because it was too cool inside. Food was great
The food just isn’t that great. The waitress knew nothing about your drinks. I be been here before and again your food isn’t great.
I don't even know where to begin with how horrific our service was on Saturday night. Honestly, if feels like we were on candid camera. We invited 4 of our friends to join us at Manitou and were SO embarrassed by the experience! Our server was so inattentive and incredibly forgetful. She asked us two different times "what did you order to drink?" after half our cocktails were delivered and she didn't even order my husband's entree! We were all halfway done with our meals when his food finally arrived. "Sorry, I forgot to ring that in" was all we got when we inquired about his meal. Our drinks were delivered by the manager at one point because our server had disappeared, only to be spotted rolling silverware at a table at the front of the restaurant.
Manitou was NOT busy while we were there so there really isn't a good excuse as to why our experience was so unpleasant and everything was taking so long. I always want to support local businesses, but these kinds of experiences make it REALLY challenging.
Very poor service. Food was fine, server was very slow to return to table and upon return, had forgotten drink order. No apology. For the price, they should have better, more professional service.
Great service - food was very good - three time dubs had the special. Just wish the weather was nice so we could have sat on the beautiful patio. We’ll be back.
The waitress was very nice but very absent, and slow to bring items requested.
We decided to go have lunch on Labor day. Many restaurants were closed and so we used open table to find this place. It was close and open. Parking was easy and location was easy to find. The restaurant is big and can certainly hold a big crowd. It was quite that day. This place has indoor and outdoor seating. The food was good and I would recommend Manitou Grill.
It is very poor custmer service when the first thing a server says when she FINALLY approaches your table to acknowledge you is "We are so busy, sorry for the wait". First of all busy they were not. Second the management should hire some help if they feel having more that 5 tables of customers is "busy". Food was below par from what we are used to there. Very off night. Maybe it's just better for lunch when we usually go instead of dinner. Also don't say you serve Pepsi instead of Coke "because it is cheaper".
Great service but the food was awful. This is a great location and venue. We really want to support it but the food needs to upgrade dramatically.
We sat on the patio. Lots of flies...I guess to be expected? Our waitress was overly busy and not attentive and had to send other staff to take care of the bill.
Beth was our server and was very helpful and attentive - really was delightful. The food was enjoyed by all. Would not hesitate to recommend Manitou Grill.
Very nice decor and ambience, friendly employees and attentive wait staff. Food was delicious and a good variety to choose from. The outdoor patio is nice and welcoming. I will definitely go back!
It's an "ok" place - if you stick with sandwiches & fries - food is OK. Pretty place. Server was OK.
Lovely day on the patio and excellent service!
It was Father's Day and a bad day in the kitchen. Service was extremely slow and we were offered only a breakfast menu though we arrived after 11 am. Food was delivered to the wrong table. Poached eggs were hard and there were egg shells in the Eggs Benedict. This was my worst restaurant experience ever.
great! super nice and good was good!
It was a very nice place, Staff are awesome
However, It was extremely noisy
The music was so loud from the bar we could not converse at the table.
Returning for another visit, this time tried their lobster roll. It consisted of 5 whole lobster claws in a hot dog bun with a bot of mayo on the bottom. As a native of Maine who has eaten a LOT of lobster rolls I would rate this as not bad, I will defiantly return for more.
Previously the food has been very good, but had not been there in awhile, so we tried it for Easter Brunch. So disappointed. Food was mediocre, lukewarm at best, tough beef roast, dry eggs. Tables were uncovered, and worn out looking. Not a welcoming environment. Not sure we'll return based on this dining experience.
This was excellent. The ribs were sweet, flavorful, lean and tender. Sweet potato fries crisp and yummy. Service was friendly and quick. Come early, it was busy.
We arrived at a busy time but got a table within 20-30 minutes. We went to the bar for drinks which was busy but the bartender started our order and would make someone else’s drink and come back to us. This took about 10, a little too long. Filling one order at a time would have been better.
We were seated at our table but the waitress took awhile to get to us but was very apologetic. The manager had one arm in a sling and was apologetic as well and made sure we were taken care of. The food was awesome and that as well as the staff acknowledging the busyness and apologizing, made our visit worth it. I would recommend this restaurant in a heartbeat.
Great place, great staff and the food was delicious!!!!
We enjoyed our family get-together for St. Patrick's Day. Everything was good but everyone who had cooked vegetables with their meal said their vegetables were not cooked. This seems to be a thing at a lot of restaurants to cook vegetables slightly so they are still hard. Not sure why, because they just aren't good that way.
I ordered the bbq burger and my wife ordered the goat cheese burger. Both burgers had very tasty half pound patties. I thought the food was very good and a very good value
Because of earlier reviews with other owners we had never been to Manitou grill even though it is less than 10 minutes from our home. Big mistake. This is an outstanding restaurant/bar. Food and service on a busy Saturday night was great. Truly a good experience.
OMG - the Shepherd's Pie is one of the best meals I've had in AGES!!
The food, atmosphere and service were all great. We will definitely go thee again and have a drink and horderves by the fireplace
