Food was great although tiramisu not my style! Well worth checking out
My husband took me for Mother’s Day brunch. We had great food and service the last time going there it seemed like a good idea to go for a special occasion. The restaurant was half empty (never a good sign on a busy holiday). I could go on and on about what went wrong but I’ll just name a few. We had 2 orders of steak and eggs, one came out severely over and the other under cooked. Everything was over salted. Coffee mugs were filled with coffee grounds, we had to flag someone down for another cup of coffee and asked for a new cup since ours were filled with grounds and they never returned with more coffee. Server basically never came back after taking our initial order until the rest of my family left and I was left surrounded by stacks of uneaten plates of food waiting for my bill.
Great ambiance and very good service! The food was tasty and very fresh. The menu was a bit limited but the items available were great. Will definitely be back.
Great locally sourced gastropub! Was looking for a spot that takes food seriously and delivers the flavorful without all the garbage and fuss. Excellent burger - chef knows it requires not just incredible ingredients but the bun, so good. Booze pairings - top notch. Must try the smoked whiskey!
We booked our table on Open Table claiming that a 630p reservation was happy hour. Not sure if Open Table is at fault there, but at 632pm when we sat down, they said happy hour was over. After ordering, it took almost 30 minutes to get our food. The $26 Lamb was a 8 inch bone with maybe 2oz. of actual meat on it, and the rest of it was bone and fat, with a tiny salad. The risotto were ordered was bitter tasting, and the radichio Caesar salad was ill-conceived and just not good. The kid's hamburger was too salty, and the fries came 10 minutes after the rest of the food was served. The real issue was how incredibly overpriced it all was. $14 for a kid's hamburger and fries? it was $24 for risotto, and we had one wine and one cocktail, with a bill of $134 for 2 adults and 2 kids. Poorly done on every level - service, food, value.
Great staff, great drinks, and I love the emphasis in local ingredients!!
Mahattan House always provides a good meal with the freshest ingredients made into interesting (and delish) dishes. Our server was outstanding too. She suggested a roasted vegetable platter, when we couldn't get a salad because the greens hadn't come that day (!). The platter was so good, as was our flattened chicken entree. The sunchokes that came with the chicken were amazing too.
Had another fabulous meal at MH this past weekend. Mary’s brick pressed chicken is always a favorite. And delivered again. The ricotta and snap pea toast was truly off the chart (this was a special). Great neighborhood gem.
Loved the offerings on the menu.
We absolutely love the cauliflower salad and order it all the time. Mary’s pressed chicken is really prepared well - simple and very flavorful. I had the octopus for the second time and enjoyed it just as much. The bean purée that the octopus sits on top is really delish. Great neighborhood restaurant. PS. The Sommerland red wine is a keeper!
Yet another lovely and delicious dinner here! The Mon-Fri. atmosphere is a bit mellower than weekends--but no matter what day you go, service, ambiance, and FOOD are spectacular! We've brought vegans, pescaterians, ketoans, and plenty of "regular" folks, and everybody finds plenty of delicious fare to choose from! (And the cocktails are gastronomic, too!)
Good selection. Fresh food. Great service!
Found this through Yelp for dinner with friends who were staying near the airport. This is really more of a bar then a restaurant. It is very loud and difficult to have a conversation. I would not say this looks or feels like a nice restaurant; OK for drinks but not for a nice dinner. My burger was extremely salty and greasy. My wife's chicken was excellent and the best dish. My friends bowtie pasta was quite terrible with rubbery lobster - she left most of the dish uneaten. The service was nice and parking was no problem. Should have know when I was able to make a reservation for 7pm Saturday dinner without any problems. I would would not go back for dinner.
The music was too loud. We received an incorrect order for our salad and a few people in our party felt unwell after eating our meals. I would give it a pass.
Menu had just enough different choices and each dish had a lot of flavor and was warm and delicious. Cocktails were different and made just right.
Everything was delicious and our waiter was awesome!
The smashed fingerlings were the most delicious I’ve ever had. The place is cute and the waitress was nice. I highly recommend!
This is our favorite restaurant in Manhattan Beach. Friendly/Casual Chic atmosphere. Fantastic food--whether you're vegetarian, or a total carnivore, you'll find plenty of delicious farm-to-table fare, and phenomenal original recipes from the chef. And the mixology cocktails are just as great as the food.
Appetizers were great. But it was too noisy to be able to carry a conversation with our group of six people for all to be involved. The Farfelle was under done and one of our individuals in the group returned her burger because it was not hot enough. But the Bronzinis with veggies were thoroughly enjoyed as wee the three side dishes we ordered.
Great when it first opened but not the same feel. Not a favorite
Consistently great authentic Italian pasta- fresh farm to table ingredients. So good!
A bit pricy. Will return but be wiser in my order.
Waaaaaaaay too loud! Food is great but we meet family here to catch up but can't because the music is so loud. We asked them twice to turn it down because we couldn't have a simple conversations. Love the food but won't be back.
Some of the food was amazing- mushroom toast, for example was a must have. The Cesar Salad has way too much dressing but was very tasty. The service on the other hand was spot on (very friendly and timely).
We ordered the chef choice and it was amazing. We've been there about a dozen times and this was our favorite. They were understaffed for what we are used to. So the service wasn't what we normally expect. This place is always our go to for wonderful farm to table food.
Pan seared shrimp was phenomenal, and so was the Caesar salad. Service was great, very attentive. Seating a bit cramped, but it's worth it to eat there!
The noise level at Manhattan House is higher than I think it should be. Although the food quality was good and the portion size was also acceptable, the noise level was high, which made having a conversation difficult. The staff may have been short-handed because our service was slow. The server approached the table immediately after our arrival asking for a drink selection, but took too long to comeback when we said we wanted to look over the bottled win selection. We waited over 35 minutes between salad and entry arrival. The entire dinner was a two hour process. For me 2 hours is too long to be in a noisy place.
What a great fine! Probably south bay folks know this awesome foodie pub as a neighborhood gem, but we ventured from parts north and had a AAA+ experience. Food and service exceptional. Ambiance fun and a guaranteed good time. Highest recommendation!
Menu items on paper look delicious. Execution is not there however and each of our dishes fell short of expectations. Octopus was not rubbery (a plus) but lacked seasoning and the accompanying bean medley missed the mark with us. The rigatoni was very bland as well. The sauce had an odd citrus taste that just didn’t sit well with us. Brussels sprouts appetizer was pretty basic. Mushroom toast was ok, but mushroom to bread ratio was too high. Server forgot our octopus entree so we didn’t get our whole meal at the same time. Will not be going back.
Came here for Valentine’s Day! Food was outstanding, cocktail butter me up is to die for, Kate was our server and she was awesome. Overall excellent experience.
Awesome place. Great local place. Perfect for simple hangout.
We loved the interesting combinations of ingredients in the cocktails and the food.
Unfortunately, we hit Manhattan House on a bad night. It was our last night in town and happened to be Super Bowl Sunday. We weren’t interested in watching the game as we weren’t fans of either team, and after a weekend out eating a lot of pub food, we’d specifically looked for a place where we could have a quiet, more interesting dinner. After going on the website and looking at the menu, the Manhattan House looked like the answer. Nowhere did it look like a sports bar and the menu had a lot of very enticing options. When we arrived, however, it was to find they were doing a Super Bowl Sunday special in which they were only serving a very limited menu of upscale bar food. I ended up eating one slider for $7. Nothing else seemed at all appetizing to me. My husband had wings. Although both were decent, it wasn’t the food we were expecting to get. There were very few people in the place—mostly the staff. And yes, the game was on and they were cheering away. We had good service, but overall it wasn’t the experience we’d wanted. I had to buy a bag of cashews at my hotel gift shop when I got home because dinner had been so unsatisfying. The experience just made me think of the saying, “Stay in your lane.” This was typically a bistro type restaurant trying to be an upscale sports bar for one night. I understand the home team appeal. But they clearly missed the mark as people looking for a sports bar clearly weren’t there, and people who might normally go for a nicer meal also clearly weren’t there. I felt bad as I always root for a restaurant to stay in business but it’s poor choices like this that can make them go out of business. Keep doing what you do well, and do it better. Don’t try to be what you’re not. Also, make sure your website clearly states changes in menu. There was a small ad at the bottom that mentioned “specials” but nothing that said the full menu wouldn’t be available. I felt duped.
Food is delish! Great vibe, good service. They have a nice happy hour too!!
A neighborhood gem, the food is always great. A bit noisy with a lively bar area, the booths are most comfortable seating for dinner but closer to the noise. You can’t go wrong with the Cauliflower appetizer or the house made sourdough with burrata - two of my favorites. We started with those and ordered two of their drink specials while the others I our party stuck with the beer selection. For dinner, the Fried Chicken with cornbread is great and a decent size meal. The Shrimp with Polenta was delicious, and we ordered it without the bacon. The Lamp Chop special was also a big hit, tender and cooked to perfection. Our server was friendly, helpful and attentive, combined with the warm atmosphere, it was a great evening.
This is our go to in MB...love this place!! Great food, service...
Great nyc tavern feel with honestly exceptional inventive food but also great kids menu. Very high end menu at affordable prices
