Manhattan Beach Post Ratings and Reviews
Great example of turning a negative into a positive. We got seated 30 minutes after our reservation - (not their fault, a few parties camped out well, well after the check was presented). The staff kept us apprised of the situation, apologized for the situation, comped some food, and did in no way rush us to catch up on their schedule. The hostess, manager, and server were all accommodating - way different than other places where you are made to feel that your reservation time is merely a suggestion. Food was great as always - had the pleasure of introducing folks new to Post - and we'll all be back for sure.
The food here was incredible!
Tried a couple things we normally wouldn't (Mushroom Mac and Cheese, Squid Ink Spaghetti) and a few we would, namely scallops and cheesy bacon bread. Everything was prepared with care and presented in an orderly fashion.
Our server was helpful without being pushy and the cocktails were well balanced and fit the meal.
We were torn between here, Little Sister, and Fishing with Dynamite since we only had time for one - I'm not unhappy with the pick at all and I would absolutely come back.
I've been here multiple times and have never been disappointed by the biscuits. They are the best! We tried the plate of the honey sampler and Spanish pork, both were excellent. For our main tapas, we had the scallops, squid ink octopus spaghetti, and green beans. The scallops were cooked to perfection and came with a sauce that complimented it very well. Our only disappointment was the spaghetti. It was nothing special and tasted like tomato sauce with some pieces of tough octopus. Overall though, a little too expensive but the food is great!
Always amazing. One of my favorite places in Manhattan Beach. We usually sit at the bar, but with four, we made a reservation. We were seated right away on a busy new year's day brunch. Cocktails were amazing, food delicious. Honestly my favorite brunch location.
Food here was amazing!!! & the drinks were delicious too! Service was a little slow and I find their philosophy on bringing food out as its ready a little odd. Sounds like a good idea, get your food when its ready. But in all actuality this meant I got my food and was basically done eating before my boyfriend got his dish. Either I get my food and be polite to wait for people at the rest of the table to get theirs and then my food is cold, or I eat my food and the other people with me have to watch and wait till they get theirs. Which is how it was. The food should be made in a way that everything is ready at the same time. I would definitely go back because the food was great but maybe only get dishes to share so that no one is left with no food and waiting...
Early New Year's Eve meal mid-day --perfect! Service was awesome; food very good. Got the fried chicken sandwich which was delicious and took 1/2 home; hubby got skirt steak & was very satisfied. Ambience is Cali casual, with a range of age brackets represented. Ordered usual starters of famous biscuits (yum) with a couple excellent craft beers to wash it all back. Our 3rd visit in a year (we're locals) --we'll be back!
I have been wanting to come to Manhattan Beach Post for years. Today I finally made it to Brunch and it did not disappoint!! Even my husband and daughter who are not very adventurous eaters really enjoyed our meal. It was busy, crowded and the place is small, yet even with the noise level being petty high, service was attentive and quick. Can’t wait to go back!!!
I've been to MB Post several times and always had excellent service. I brought my parents from out of town and unfortunately we had the worst server, Anna, who was beyond inattentive, unaware and ruined our entire experience. Anna had us wait over 30 minutes to receive the check and I ended up going to the hostess stand to give them our check and credit card because she was so unaware and never came back to take the check. Furthermore, she was inexperienced in wines and was unable to answer my Fathers questions. MB Post management will hopefully rectify this situation so others do not have to experience this in adept waitress.
My friend from Toronto and I came here to enjoy a classic California brunch on the weekend. I had been trying to go to MB Post for years but just never got around to it. I'm so glad I finally got to enjoy their food! We had the caramelized banana bread pudding (with toasted walnuts and brandy butterscotch sauce), the pork and shrimp dumplings, and a tartine with mushrooms and cheese. It was all delicious, as was my Neon Hummingbird cocktail with pisco! The restaurant is casual but makes for great people watching.
This was the first time we came for brunch. The menu is more breakfast oriented but still delicious. Must have are the cheddar bacon biscuits. The truffle chicken was delicious and I don't usually like truffle oil on anything. This was very discreet. The chicken was moist and tender and crispy. We had the falafel special and it was so tasty with a nice spice to it.
The food was fantastic, albeit pricey for small bites, but the server was very accommodating to my special dietary requests. We had the couscous without the feta and yogurt and actually thought it was really exceptional. The skirt steak was incredibly tender and delicious as was the sashimi (not really tender, more like melt-in-your-mouth). While I didn't have the buttermilk bisquit, my friend had one and said it was amazing. (They have their own FB page).
Definitely my favorite place in MB.
Went to MB Post after enjoying the holiday fireworks show at MB pier. I arrived 30 minutes early for my 8PM reservations, and despite a surprisingly large number of open tables, I was told we would have to either wait 30 minutes or sit at a communal table. We chose the group seating.......although several 4 tops stayed vacant until after 8PM.
My bottom line on the Post is this:
1. It's very trendy.
2. It's very noisy. Don't go there for a quite dinner or intimate conversation.
3. Surprisingly limited beer options, but good cocktails.
4. Tasty food, but even for a small plate place, the portions are small.
5. Plates are relatively expensive.
6. ASHLEY was an INCREDIBLE server!!!!
Despite the comments above I would go back!!! However, I would have to be in the right mood.
Came here for Sunday brunch before a KROQ Acoustic Christmas concert at the Forum. Couldn't have made a better choice. We had four people, ordered four entrees, and shared them in the middle of the table as waitress suggested. Everything was delicious, especially the to-do-for Cheddar Bacon Biscuits. Wish we lived closer.
We have not been to MB Post and we were happy to see that the quality of food is still high as was our service. My only issue is the music is a bit loud especially given that it is an upbeat, eclectic mix playing. I understand that vibe of restaurant may be hip, high energy, but the music makes conversation very difficult.
