Manhattan Beach Post Ratings and Reviews
The food was fantastic, albeit pricey for small bites, but the server was very accommodating to my special dietary requests. We had the couscous without the feta and yogurt and actually thought it was really exceptional. The skirt steak was incredibly tender and delicious as was the sashimi (not really tender, more like melt-in-your-mouth). While I didn't have the buttermilk bisquit, my friend had one and said it was amazing. (They have their own FB page).
Definitely my favorite place in MB.
Went to MB Post after enjoying the holiday fireworks show at MB pier. I arrived 30 minutes early for my 8PM reservations, and despite a surprisingly large number of open tables, I was told we would have to either wait 30 minutes or sit at a communal table. We chose the group seating.......although several 4 tops stayed vacant until after 8PM.
My bottom line on the Post is this:
1. It's very trendy.
2. It's very noisy. Don't go there for a quite dinner or intimate conversation.
3. Surprisingly limited beer options, but good cocktails.
4. Tasty food, but even for a small plate place, the portions are small.
5. Plates are relatively expensive.
6. ASHLEY was an INCREDIBLE server!!!!
Despite the comments above I would go back!!! However, I would have to be in the right mood.
Came here for Sunday brunch before a KROQ Acoustic Christmas concert at the Forum. Couldn't have made a better choice. We had four people, ordered four entrees, and shared them in the middle of the table as waitress suggested. Everything was delicious, especially the to-do-for Cheddar Bacon Biscuits. Wish we lived closer.
We have not been to MB Post and we were happy to see that the quality of food is still high as was our service. My only issue is the music is a bit loud especially given that it is an upbeat, eclectic mix playing. I understand that vibe of restaurant may be hip, high energy, but the music makes conversation very difficult.
We thought everything was just mediocre. People have been raving about this place, and we finally tried it. Unfortunately, for us, it wasn’t anything special. The cocktails were just “ok.” The food lacked a “wow factor.” And the “polite” demeanor expressed by our waitress felt forced and not authentic. Overall, it was way overpriced for the food and experience we had. Maybe brunch is better but we’re not sure if we would return.
Outstanding cocktails. Great service - accommodated my food allergies and helped identify safe choices. We should have come a little hungrier but everything we ate was delicious. Good idea to get several plates to share.
We went around 7:30 on a Friday night so it was unfortunately really loud, making it hard to have a conversation, but that’s my only complaint. Will return at a less popular time to really enjoy it.
AMAZING! The food is incredible. The restaurant is just cool. Wait staff are great. And the best are the hostesses/managers who really make you feel welcome and really handle the crowd so well. Love the envelope with your name on it that contains the menus if you reserve ... oooh lala.
Brought my niece for her Birthday and Christina our server was awesome cute, bubbly, fantastic personality.Makes you feel right at home. And the food as always was great.Cheesy Eggs,Steak, and the stuffed French Toast was amazing. And those biscuits mmmm.Always a great experience eating at this establishment.
This place is very relaxed. I liked the variety of dishes and that they are sourced with sustainability in mind. The menu was eclectic. The Bacon Cheddar Biscuits with maple butter are a great starter to go with your drink. I had a spicy margarita which was excellent. In terms of other dishes the scallops and the pasta with octopus were fantastic. Many dishes come in small cast iron pans, which are very hot and if there are two of them on the table at the same time, a table for two gets a little crowded. The service was friendly and relaxed. I will definitely be back.
First time there. The wine was good. Bisquits were best part of the meal — really yummy. Scallops and greenbeans were good. The trout was overcooked and dry. Didn’t care for waitress. Tables are arranged too close together so waitress stood behind me to address me, which was annoying. She apparently was bothered that I sent a hot plate of green beans back because she served it and quickly walked away before serving the charcuterie, even though she told me she would serve the hot items together after the cold. She bounced it back hard on the table after taking the charcuterie board away. Whatever. Menu is cluttered and doesn’t accurately describe the items or how they are prepared. Scallops were supposed to have a sauce, but were just sprinkled with some corn kernals, which was odd and did not really go with the scallops. They were well cooked though. Overall, I was disappointed because I heard this place was really good and was expecting a better dining experience. It was just ok. Maybe it’s better for just cocktails.
