Mango Shiva Ratings and Reviews
We had a nice dinner . The food was good but came a bit cool and portions were skimpy. The menu said our appetizer came with 4 pces and they sent 3. I ordered the triple dessert And after it came they told me they were out of one of the choices but when i expressed dismay said they would not charge me. Quite noisy but lovely surroundings. A good experience overall.
Checked out the lunch buffet at Mango Shiva the other day. The restaurant was very busy (always a good sign), and we had to navigate through the crowd to get to the buffet. Options on the buffet were good. Would have liked to have seen some plain, saffron or coconut basmati rice instead of the mixed vegetable rice. All in all though, the food was good, service was good considering how busy it was, and we'll be back again.
Portion sizes seem to be decreasing over the years but prices are higher compared to other indian restaurants. Good service but pretty slow. We went on a Monday and were only 1 of a handful of tables but still had to wait quite a while for food after orderinig.
We chose to go to Mango Shiva before going to a play at Arts Commons. Not only is the location conveniently close to the theatre but the food is wonderful. When you need a good Indian fix this place delivers great flavor and service. Our wait staff was attentive and offered us additional value and information.
We will be back again
The drinks are incredible here! The Kama Sutra was delicious. As far as food the butter chicken naacos are also amazing! We also had the calamari which had a delicious sauce along with lamb chops and beef short rib curry as mains. Overall unreal food!
Another cool thing about Mango Shiva was the last time we went they forgot to put a flower on a table that I asked for about a year ago. They then sent me a gift card to make up for it even though I never even said anything about the flower not being there. Then last night almost a year later they bring my girlfriend a rose with an apology as well as a cake with gold flakes on it and a sparkler! They remembered that I lived out of town even from a quick phone call last year. These people are real winners!
Just walking in the premises got my stomach growling - it smells so good!! The food was, as it always has been, delicious! We shared Calamari in a flavouful curry sauce and Pakoras with 2 dips (mint and not sure about the other, but maybe raisin? Yummy regardless). For our mains, we shared the South Indian Salmon, Prawns and Scallops and Grilled Lamb Chops with Fenugreek Curry. Unlimited basmati, but we only needed the one as we were stuffed! It was a shame that they ran out of goat since we both wanted the Goat Curry. I guess that's a reason to go back! :)
repair seats - tape on upholstery is not classy! A little service would go a long way at lunch time... waited 10+ minutes to order beverage and had to ask 3x for milk for tea and coffee. Just because it's a buffet doesn't mean you can neglect your guests. Quick to process tab thou.
We go to Mango Shiva as a date spot all the time. This was the first time food came out cold, however. Our other guests also complained that some of the dishes were incredibly bland compared to usual. Not sure if they were having an off night or what was up.
I'd also note that the new main paneer dish is no match to the one from the old menu. Definitely recommend returning to the giant paneer with mixed veggies. It had a more western feel, but tasted much better.
As usual, our service was awesome. Their servers are always incredibly friendly, helpful, and accommodating.
This is the second time I've been there for a special occasion. The food was once again excellent, the ambience was nice and our "main" server was good. However, this time the other server helping her out was very unfriendly and rude. This was very surprising to me, as all of the other servers are usually so nice and helpful and that is what I remember from our last visit. All in all, I would recommend this place, but hopefully they get rid of that horrible server, it can quickly turn a great night into a regrettable night.
I have ate at the lunch buffet about 8 or 9 times .The buffet is losing its luster for me over the big bang it had when restaurant first opened. Gone from each dish being unique tasting and textured vegetable dishes to filler dishes like sloppy salty cabbage and peas, over cooked lentils and pakora that tastes like the fridge . Meat dishes plentiful as always. Its just not 1/2 as good as it once was, maybe we will try Royal India again.
The food was good but the service is only ok. Servers and hosts seem confused about how to handle more than one table or customer at a time. Drinks took ages and were not complicated (wine and beer, not complicated cocktails). The atmosphere was nice but the tables are way too close together. We were seated next to a loud group of ladies which wouldn't be an issue except we were basically sitting with them as our tables were so close together. I'd give it a pass next time, there are many other choices in the area..
