Italian
Mangia Bene in Islington brings the food and culture of Italy to the bustle of Chapel Market in London. The traditional food can be enjoyed from the rustic interior or from the al fresco seating. The food is matched with a fittingly Italian winelist, as well as a choice of aperitifs, liquirs and coffees. with white walls, exposed bricks and an open kitchen, Mangia bene has a relaxed Mediterranean feel.

Very tasty food and good value for money. Friendly staff, good service throughout. Was clearly popular as people waited for tables to become free, enjoying a drink (although standing) in the meantime.

We came to the restaurant for the first time after reading good reviews and it didn’t disappoint! We had the garlic bread & calamari for starter which was delicious, then a couple of mains & desserts. Food was all fantastic and would definitely return. The interior is quite simple inside but the food & service makes up for it.

Our main dishes were so good and great value but the starters were the complete opposite: expensive for small plates with little attention to quality. Would recommend for a quick tasty lunch but not for a nice dinner experience.

Family-run authentic Italian - food was good, but not outstanding. A delicious Sangiovese at a very decent price. Can't complain due to great value!

I went to Mangia Bene to celebrate my birthday on saturday evening with 7 friends. I booked for 8.30 and although we arrived 10 minutes later, we had to wait almost 20 minutes because the previous group was still sitting on our table. During the dinner there was another big group that was celebrating a birthday too and they were shouting and making a mess all the time: we could not really enjoy the dinner, properly talk to each other and we were starting to have headache because of the noise. The food wasn't that bad, but I expected more, having read many positive reviews. The staff was very kind and friendly and they sang for me "Happy birthday" in a very funny way with loud music and pizza shovels!

This is a lovely original Italian. Don't go looking for fancy, hipster, super cool, but a great feel-at-home service, fresh product and a staff willing to make your experience perfect.
Prices are very reasonable and all the food we had, which included burrata and fresh fish was of the best quality.
You will also enjoy a very 90's real Italian soundtrack. As a 30 something, I loved it for its cheesy-ness.

A busy Saturday night. Great food, staff were friendly but quite busy, so may have been less attentive than usual. However, we were in no rush. Reasonably priced meal for two - Two mains, starter to share and a bottle of wine for £40.

Enjoyed a meal at Mangia Bene with friends before we went to the ballet at Sadler's Wells theatre. The food was delicious and service quick. The restaurant was very quiet but unsurprising given it was quite early on a Thursday evening. Would recommend Mangia Bene and will go back.

We went for a pre theatre meal. The food and wine were great and not expensive. The restaurant doesn't have a huge amount of ambience but it has a friendly atmosphere and I can imagine its great fun a little later. The staff were friendly and efficient. I would definitely go again if I were in the area.

We had a really good meal at Mangia Bene - the menu is pretty varied and so there's plenty to keep everyone happy. We shared a starter and some olives, then had one pasta dish and one pizza for main course which were both delicious. We didn't drink apart from bottled water and the bill came to £31 which is very decent for central-ish London!

So happy we had dinner there! The 4 of us really loved our food, the fish was so fresh and tasty (maybe it comes directly from Chapel Market!), and the pizzas were cooked perfectly, with a thin home-made crust and delicious ingredients. The service was fast and friendly.
