Mandolin is a breath of fresh air to the Raleigh dining scene, combining a casual atmosphere with fresh, contemporary, Southern fare. Mandolin uses the highest quality local ingredients to create seasonal menus that resonate with foodies and casual diners, alike. We share our food in a relaxed, cozy atmosphere that replaces the stuffiness of fine-dining with Southern charm. The menu and ambiance reflect the character of Raleigh itself- a blend of rustic and refined, contemporary and traditional, rural and metropolitan. Mandolin, like the City of Oaks, is Southern at its roots, but draws influences from around the world. We love our new home in Hayes Barton, just a stone's throw from Five Points, on the corner of Oberlin and Fairview.

Mandolin Ratings and Reviews
We've gone several times (Wife and I) it's our favorite spot in Raleigh to do date night. Duck breast when it's on the menu is awesome. Chicken and waffles also delicious, but the menu has some cool stuff on it so I kind of feel bad about ordering something like that (but they do it right). It's also a very fair price point, not the cheapest place but fair for what you have to choose from, 3 courses you'll spend $40 or more depending on if you're having any drinks (we do :D )
Server was on point, kept glasses full and the drinks coming, let us eat when the food came, answered all of our questions and was generally everything you want in a server.
We will be back again for sure!
Met up with friends for Saturday Brunch in Raleigh, first-time visiting Mandolin. We booked ahead, that morning, for a brunch time - I would suggest reserving ahead on weekends as the layout of the restaurant can cater to large groups and there were several large groups that day. The service is quick, warm and genuine. The food is wonderful! I got the Pork Madame - highly recommend! The menu is well thought out with options to mix and match. Great new spot on our restaurant rotation!
I was excited to finally eat at Mandolin, as I pass it almost every day. I enjoyed the atmosphere very much and the wine and appetizers we ordered. I ordered the chicken and dumplings, being well aware they would not be my grandmother's dumplings, but was I love all the ingredients, so I ordered anyway. The flavor was nice, but I bit into several knobbly bits (chicken cartilage) that really put me off. I know many people don't mind all parts of certain animals, but I can't stomach those parts. Oh well.
My children loved it , but old Maw and Paw 😜 were bothered by the noise. My husband actually lost his voice speaking loud enough so others in the party of six could hear. Most loved the food. I heard very little during the whole meal. We had to wait more than 30 minutes for our reserved table. Our service was excellent. The restaurant was cute and the cocktails were delicious. Maybe, try acoustical panels on the ceiling and walls?
First of all, the place was extremely noisy. It was difficult to have a conversation in a normal tone of voice. The service was good, but the food was only fair. The Country Ham Benedict was served on toast that was tough and difficult to cut. The fat had not been trimmed from the country ham...okay if it's served by itself but not in a benedict. The Mandolin Bowl was tasty but eventually got sort of boring. Bread service was very skimpy. No salt and pepper on the table, which seems to be a trend everywhere these days. I don't think we'll be back.
Took my wife for our 16th Anniversary, enjoyed it very much. Food was excellent as was the service. Noise level was acceptable as most of the pre-Christmas crowds and partiers were gone.
Really enjoyed and would recommend. Will go back when the menu changes in the spring.
nice but too noisy- A big room with many large parties.
1 group at a table 50' away was so loud( shouting down the length of their table) that we couldn't hear each other-
management apparently unwilling to ask group to quiet down
generally spoiled the ambiance.
food not as good as last visit, 6 months prior
Chicken & waffles as uninteresting as the usual local version( hoped for a creative variation0
Panzanella salad unlike any other panzanella salad on earth( not a good thing)
Once again our food and service was awesome. My family was here from Florida and we enjoyed a spectacular meal together. My son and husband enjoyed the impressive 32 oz Ribeye.
We always enjoy Mandolin. It’s well worth the drive from Holly Springs. Can’t wait to return!
We're so happy that we live close to Mandolin. We visit regularly, if not often. But with every visit, we're reminded why we like the restaurant so much.
The dishes are always very well prepared and served. Last night my wife had soup (forgot which one) and the hanger steak. I enjoyed the pork belly and oyster appetizer and had the pork shank for the main. We enjoyed every bite. Our only disappointment was that we didn't have room for a dessert.
