I'll admit I was impressed. For being a hidden locale above a bowling alley... That's right... A bowling alley! The food was superb. The chef got down... My favorite was the butternut squash soup. It was silky and sweet. Their barrel aged negroni is definitely one of the best tasting negroni I've had in a while. And the barrel aged old fashion was even better. The short rib was delicious. The turkey dish was spectacular. I however feel the price tag was... On the heavy side. I have experience buying meats. On the commercial side. Weekly. They could have either offered a better meat option or lowered the price. But given the holiday, the inventory of restaurants, and them having availability: I can't complain. It was good--A great experience. And the food was plentiful. I left stuffed. You think three courses ain't much but the plate was pretty filled. And the dessert with the cream puffs was to die for. I had no service issues, as a matter of fact I felt very well taken care of and my server had at least 4 other tables. One of which had maybe 8. At least. She was on point. Never missed a beat. And I didn't have to make awkward wave gestures. She was at our table every few minutes just... Being great. I'll admit entering from the elevator side is awkward. After skiing all day my legs looked at the stairs and i shivered... I wasn't the only person to go through it as couples with strollers made my same awkward mistake.. But either way... Totally worth it. Would love to return on a non holiday and check out their regular menu

We really like the food here but the noise level is really high for a small place. I think they could do more to break up the dining space. The Carpaccio is really good and the Elk is fantastic.

Enter La Brasserie and be greeted and served by welcoming and professional staff. Hip Bar Area with excellent cocktails. Savor the elegant modern setting complete with a fresh rose at each table. Great menu selections. The Onion Soup was authentic French and the Carpaccio's truffle oil flavoring was amazing. We shared the Seafood Risotto. Delish. A lighter dessert offering would have been welcome after such a full meal. Cant wait to return.

Talk about a diamond in the rough, this restaurant was outstanding in every way. The service was excellent. The food was delicious and well presented. Even the desert was great. All this located upstairs above a bowling alley in Mammoth. Definitely will be going back on our next trip.

We looked forward to dining here because of the reviews and on menu preview on open table. We were greeted with no enthusiasm and a sign that said no corkage allowed because of insurance escalations. Never heard that in any place we have been and we bring wine fairly often. That was not called out on the menu we preview. The man who checked us in went on in great detail about the situation and after we were seated I noticed another sign about no corkage at the bar so they are serious. The octopus appetizer, which we have enjoyed at other restaurants and was listed in the menu online as a favorite was not on the menu. We ordered two other appetizers which were very good. Our server was efficient but obviously over extended. During the rather perfunctory service the man I referred to and another person who dashed about the restaurant obviously had an argument about table rearrangement and left them both pouty. While we couldn’t hear the exchange because the noise level here is on the high side, it was apparent to many they were in some kind of disagreement. My partner had du k which was mediocre and I had the fresh tuna special which was good. While some reviewers said they’d been here often we would not come back.

I always take time for a dinner or two here when I’m in town. Their kitchen is solid and consistent. The menu offers a variety of delicious options and their daily specials are alway a nice treat. Sometimes it’s hard to choose. It’s totally not what you’d expect above the bowling alley but a finer dining establishment it is. Stephan runs this place well and is genuinely concerned about the dining experience. This previous evening we were hosted by the lovely Aubrah and she was an attentive delight. Thanks guys. See you again soon.

We’ve been to the Brasserie many times and have enjoyed it very much each time except this one. Perhaps because we were there off-season things were not as good as we expected. Servings were smaller than in the past (although certainly a decent size) and the quality seems to have slipped a bit. There were four in our party and we all remarked on that point. Still, it’s a fine restaurant and I’m sure we will return.

I had elk in a blueberry balsamic reduction with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. All delicious and it was good to be outside on the patio. The entrance is into a bowling alley cafe and you go upstairs. It's not even clear from the large sign by the car park which lot it applies to. I saw an open door, not sure if I was in the right place and then when I heard the bowling alley cafe noise I began to wonder. Rest assured, the restaurant patio is quiet. The food is great - I did have to ask a waiter for someone to check me in. So it did seem a bit of a strange introduction to the restaurant. Once seated, service and food were terrific. Get better signage and make sure website is clear and distinct from the bowling alley - there seem to be two restaurant names.

We have always thought of the Brasserie as one of the two best restaurants in the Mammoth Lakes area (the other one being the Restaurant at Convict Lake) – the places you’d go to for a special occasion. We have been to both of them many times. We went to the Brasserie last week to celebrate our anniversary and were so disappointed that we probably will not go back again. The food was fine, but the service was unacceptably show. After being seated we had to wait at least 15 minutes to be given menus; our reservation was for 5:30, so there were hardly any other customers there. My husband ordered ribeye steak, which came with French fries. He is on a diet and did not want French fries, so he asked if he could substitute vegetables and was told he could. When the bill came, he was charged for an extra order of vegetables. It seemed like forever till our food arrived; apparently there was a mix-up in the kitchen about the extra vegetables. When I made the reservation with Open Table, I was asked if it was a special occasion and I indicated “Anniversary.” However, there was no acknowledgement about this at the restaurant. Why ask? (Perhaps this is an Open Table thing, and not the restaurant’s.)

The Brasserie has one of the best views off of the patio that there is in Mammoth. But the food left much to be wanted: I had the seafood risotto and there was only 2 shrimps, one small scallop and 3 pieces of calamari, and very disappointing. My husband had the special swordfish, which as not a steak but very thin piece of fish that was inconsistently cooked, spanning from raw to overcooked across the serving. Previously we had the meat dishes and they were considerably better. So we would recommend staying away from the seafood and fish dishes

The Brasserie is a favorite restaurant since opening, and continues to be. I am a great cook, and find few places that parallel what I can create at home. Brasserie is one of those greats. I love Duck, and will order when available. I had the Duck Confit....not sure how they cook, but it was a 10! Along with an au gratin potato dish I could have eaten alone for a meal, as it had it's own marvelous flavors. They have daily specials not on the menu, and my husband had the pork in a tarragon porcini mushroom sauce which was a special. Delectable!! A wine list worthy of any wine connoisseur, servers are professional, and the view from either inside or outside of the Sherwins is unparalleled!!!! A place you can relax and dine and enjoy the ambiance. Fear not that it is about a bowling alley. It is a quiet and lovely atmosphere on the second story. Keep in mind that you need reservations. Although people will drop in, and they try to accommodate, but it puts extra task on the servers. T

Octopus appetizer was bland, the seafood risotto also lacked flavor and the rice was not the correct consistency for a risotto. I had the seared ahi special and I could not eat it as the sauce they put on it ruined the dish. It was a siracha like sauce. And the fish was over cooked. Very disappointing experience.
