Pizza napoletana: Authentic Neapolitan pizzas are made with San Marzano tomatoes grown on the volcanic plains to the south of Mount Vesuvius, and fresh Mozzarella. The genuine Neapolitan pizza dough consists of wheat flour, natural yeast, salt and water. For proper results, strong flour with high protein content must be used. After the rising process, the dough must be formed by hand and may be no more than 3 mm (⅛ in) thick. The pizza must be baked for 60–90 seconds in a 485 °C (905 °F) stone oven with wood fire. When cooked, it should be slightly crispy on the rim, tender and fragrant in the middle. A wonderful dinner and get-together of 4 friends. We ate outside, so for the first time in my many dinners here, we didn't end up yelling at one another. For was outstanding, and the person who ordered the Icelandic cod thought it great. But so was the chicken, the Vongole, the desserts, everything. Service was attentive but not hovering, timing excellent. But do be prepared for sticker shock with tax, an added 3% tip for kitchen staff, and then the regular tip which servers richly deserve.

Mamma Melina used to be a family favorite, having grown up in Italy I always found comfort in the food they served from my region. I moved away from Seattle a few years ago but return often on business. We decided to have dinner at Mamma Melina and I was very disappointed as the food was no longer authentic Italian but the recipes were more “Italian American” and no longer authentic, ingredients not the freshest or highest quality. We ordered, eggplant, carpaccio and bruschetta which were average, too much garlic. My entree was Linguine alle vongole, which used to be my favorite and unfortunately were inedible. The pasta was over cooked, I think it was pre-cooked and not cooked fresh Al dente. The recipe was dry and full of lemon (which we don’t add in Naples) and too much garlic, plus the clams were rubbery and not fresh. I frankly was heartbroken as this used to be a family favorite. Not sure if ownership changed hands recently. I will not be going back. I’ll stick with Barolo downtown and Salvatore in Udistrict.

Do not like automatic gratuity of minimum 20%. It should be discretionary and I feel like you are forced to accept minimum 20% tip. Not fair to those Servers who go above and beyond. Need to change this.

Food, drinks, and outdoor seating were wonderful. But it was the service that topped everything. Waitress was fantastic! So genuine, fun, great suggestions, made us feel welcomed. Host and other staff bring bread, water, and such were also great.

This place is a true gem hidden in the outskirts the University District near U Village. A family friendly atmosphere or intimate tables can be found. The staff is great and will give their honest opinions about dishes being served that night. The dinner selections were varied such that everyone in our large group picked out some they really like. This is my go to place if I am entertaining visiting faculty, recruiting new staff or if the wife and I want a romantic outing.

We sat in the bar for happy hour late afternoon on a Saturday. It is nice that they offer happy hour on weekends. The bar menu isn't that large but it is a good deal. The food comes out super fast. Luckily we ordered each course when we were ready for it. I had the rigatoni bolognese and my friend had Linguini with clams. We both thought our food was great! It is just a tad loud and close together sitting in the bar but that is a normal situation for happy hour.

Excellent special spinach salad punched with spring strawberries . Entrees were both the spacial raviolis in a rich cream sauce that was good to the last bite. The Steelhead was another excellent plate-filled with veggies and ample portion of the penne. The pistachio gelato that is the best in town to refresh the palate. We will be back soon!

Everyone enjoyed her dinner and thought that the food and wine were reasonably priced. Service was excellent and accommodating. One first-time diner was highly impressed, as she was not expecting such a delicious dinner. Although the restaurant looked nearly full, we received attentive service with no long waits. We thank the whole staff.
