The new Mamma Melina, occupying the south end of the Corydon Apartments near University Village, has more in common with the Varchetta's stylish Barolo downtown.
On a summer day you'd think it was Rodeo Drive and not the Burke-Gilman Trail that runs alongside the broad front patio. Amid shallow pools holding silver globes that glint in the sun, beautiful people in oversized sunglasses sip wine on thickly cushioned sofas or sup on house-made pasta under canvas umbrellas at white-clothed tables.Price points are moderate and the cooking is assured.
Great service and food. Will happily return.
There was pretty crowded there but luckily we had a reservation through "Open Table", so we got a table less than 5 minutes after we got there. Our waitress was very prompt and friendly. She gave us a superb service for my birthday. Definitely, I will recommend to my friends.
One of the Best pasta and Italian dishes we have had and we are food enthusiasts dining out at least twice per week.
Textures, flavors, presentation, etc. everything delicious.
my son and I had a great time.
Definitely in our list of preferred restaurants.
Excellent food. Was pretty noisy because of restaurant week. Excellent service for a busy Thursday night.
Great service and excellent food
Went for Seattle Restaurant week. Loved the decor; wait staff were helpful and sociable; food was tasty and well priced. Complaint was the choice of music. Where we sat, it was only drum bass, repetitive and unpleasant. We asked, but were told the owner designed the playlist. Might be great for later time crowd; and, though didn't interfere with conversation, was definitely distrubing
It was very crowded during our visit and very noisy. We ordered bottles of fine wine and asked for a decanter and they did not have any available. That's inexusable, they have a huge wine list and decanters are cheap, for cryin' out loud. We did eventually get a decanter but this should be fixed.
Food is always wonderful and delicious.
This time we had the Antipasto and there was way too much vinegar used. Tasted great, but definitely disagreed with me. From now on we’ll avoid ordering it.
Outstanding meal. Arrived early for our evening dinner reservation. Restaurant was super busy. Instead of turning us away, the host (manager?) did everything he could possibly do to seat us. This was above and beyond. We were seated and enjoyed a wonderful meal. Wait staff were spot on and food was delicious. Only hiccup was wife's salmon was way undercooked. Of course, undercooked is easily fixed and was done so by kitchen staff.
I invited a friend for a birthday dinner. It was during Restaurant Week so it was very crowded and hence extremely noisy. My problem with the service is that no one passed along to anyone else that it was a birthday dinner. Otherwise service was good and the food, both the special dinner and the regular menu, were delicious. Finally the noise level got to us and we got out so we could go talk. Go for the food, not for conversation
Good food. Nice place for dinner with friends. Less noisy in booths.
Fabulous food and service
Just returned from Italy and the food was equally great. Service was good and free parking.
Excellent meal from the beet salad to the halibut to the warm chocolate cake. The drum beat back ground music was annoying.
Awesome service and food was great celebrating a family birthday.
Delicious food and fun place to dine. Our waitress Sarah was a delight.
New fav restaurant in Seattle! Had trouble figuring out the parking garage location (was easy, just missed it) but when I called, the gentleman on the phone stayed on the phone with me and navigated me to the restaurant. Once there the focaccia, OMG...and insanely good homemade pasta (we had gnocchi and papperdelle) and just a super friendly and responsive staff. Loves this place!
Fabulous dinner. Shawn took very good care of us!
Great food, ambiance and service. Within walking distance from UW campus (long but doable).
Consistently excellent. Love meeting friends here for drinks and dinner. Feels special without breaking the bank or leaving the neighborhood.
We eat here every year for our birthdays, and this time was outstanding. The lasagna was incredible!! Our servers were fun and attentive. Te noise level was nearly unbearable. We were screaming at each to be heard. We stayed from 6:30 PM to almost 10:00 PM, and we were generously given time to relax and visit.
Complimentary birthday tiramisu was appreciated!
Five of us ordered the Halibut in the special menu but it was all just way too dry. And we just did not receive much attention from the waiter.
Loved the great beet salad and good salmon. Wonderful service and appreciate the free parking in an area where it is hard to find good parking. Great place for friends to meet and talk.
Excellent food and great service.
Ambiance was good, but it was a little noisy.
Good food that is above average cost. The noise level is the only complaint. Concrete floors magnify the sound. Service was good and timely. I will go back, asking for a table that is away from the center.
Solid. Good hand made pasta. Their “osso buco” is really a shank. So, no marrow. Delicious nonetheless.
Wedding anniversary....great evening.
Food is simply just adequate
Service was good
Nothing really special
Difficult to have conversation. It was very noisy. Nevertheless, we had a great time there. Food, wine and service was excellent.
We had dinner on an unusually busy Sunday but the service was timely and the food was great. Absolutely recommend this quaint place to others
We really liked our family lunch at Mamma Melina. We had a real good time and our family enjoyed their meal and service. I have been there before and will definitely go back there. Although next time, I will not go for the Calzone that has too much stuffing and came cold in the middle.
Love, love, love the food. Especially the beat salad.
Very noisy restaurant, cramped table. The pasta with salmon were very salty and not interesting. I won’t recommend this place.
We had a fabulous dinner - the food was great as always. BUT the best part of our experience was our waitperson, Sarah. She was attentive, friendly, engaging and clearly loves her work!
Delicious food, upscale venue, attentive service, all at a great price!
Overall great experience!!! The (extensive) menu accommodated the table without issue & considering the mix of carnivore/herbivore & the always entertaining allergy, this isn't always such a simple feat. Brady our server was super friendly and rolled really well with my indecisiveness. The only down fall during our visit was a larger party (10-15) seated adjacent to us with 4 or 5 younger children. Treating their table as a personal race track they managed to slip and fall multiple times into our chairs while we were attempting to stuff our faces with delicious food. Did this ruin our experience??? Not completely. (see above face stuffing with delicious food) Understanding that the true fault is on the absentee parenting we do not blame the staff, although next time I might get the attention of a manager & hope they can at least throw down a spike strip.
Great place with great food. Wonderful for outdoor dining. Only one caveat-nose level can be too high in/near the bar
There were four of us with an average age of 75+. We had reservations for 7, arrived early, it was very busy, we seated promptly, the wait staff was attentive, but not pushy. We shared two appetizers (parmigiana di melenzane and Insalata di barbabietole, caprino e noci) and two had the gnocchi and two had the pollo parmigiana. All dishes were excellent. As an older group, our only difficulty was be able to have a conversation without raising our voices considerably. The quality of the food and service more than made up for this small difficulty.
As an aside, we discovered easy parking around the corner under the building. From the underground parking garage, there was direct access to the facility.
