As always, Mama's Meatball does not disappoint! Went for Fathers' Day Celebration and it was wonderful. Favorite Italian restaurant - ever! Love it!
We went to Mama’s Meatball for Father’s Day and had a wonderful family meal. We hadn’t been to the actual restaurant since the pandemic started (we had ordered delivery many times), and we were so pleased by the experience. The staff was so friendly and the food was amazing. My favorite was definitely the beet salad. My son had the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp, and it was delicious! We will definitely be back!
Had a great time like usual
Great find, unique location. Good Food.. Definitely not the $$ that Yelp shows it; but will return...
Fantastic food with thee best service! Can not wait to return.
Solid, if unspectacular. Nothing here wows us, but it's good for a change and the price is right. Would like to see them change up their menu.
I had the salmon picatta and it was way over cooked and dry. Not sure if it was even salmon. The bread knots were dry as well. My husband had the veal Marsala and it was mediocre. I was quite disappointed with this meal I’m sorry to say.
Great food, excellent service. The ambience was more casual than we expected, but still nice. I had the Chicken Romano, my husband had the rigatoni and our 22 year old son had the calzone. All very good!
I don't usually take the time to write reviews but this one was a must. This was one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever, ever been to. It was so good that during our recent trip to San Luis Obispo we ate there twice. Let's begin with the menu. There is a vast selection of pastas to choose from. The pasta is homemade and if you haven't had homemade pasta, there is a difference. A big difference. The small bowl of garlic mini bread rolls are the most delicious and soft rolls I've eaten. A must to eat only when they are warm and you could easily eat two bowls worth. After asking the server to surprise me between my two choices (butternut squash ravioli and fettuccine), she brought me the most delicious, tasty butternut squash ravioli floating in a cream and butter sage sauce that was amazing. Others are my table had the Mama's meatball and spaghetti with the meatball light and fluffy and the sauce was tasty as well. There was also the Italian braised short rib on top of creamy polenta with the meat falling off the bone. Pizza is pizza, right? Not this pizza. The sauce was the best I've tasted. Don't pass on the desserts as the tiramasu is light and creamy. Don't bother to look for any other Italian restaurant when you are in San Luis Obispo. Go to Mama's Meatball.
Incredible food, great staff, nice location. I highly recommend the pollo Romano.
Terrific pizza, mista salad and the service was wonderful.
Well priced, food was quality, came out nice and hot.
Consistency is the hallmark of Mama's Meatball. The food is always tasty and the service is good. The prices are reasonable. I love the garlic bread knots that come with the meals. Even the vegetables, which are often an after thought in restaurants, taste good.
My Grandchildren and I loved everything snd every moment The food was delicious and the service was amazing !💕
Two of our party had chicken parmesan . It was very overcooked. Very hard and tough.
One guest wasn't sure it was chicken. Will not return.
Service was good but food came so so slow from the kitchen. I won’t be back anytime soon
We eat at Mama's Meatballs every few months.
I always get the linguini pescatore
Food is usually very good and the service is always good.
I like the fact that they have tables outside now and I hope that they keep some tables outside. Great value.
Everything was delicious. Highly recommend the Bruchetta
Great food and atmosphere! Garlic knots are a nice touch for bread!
Fettuccine Alfredo sauce could have had a little more salt, but other than that, everything was delicious! I will definitely be back in the future.
Great meal from start to finish.
It was great.
Made a reservation a month in advance and arrived to be told they do not take reservations. Open Table still let's you make reservations. They finally decided to honor it with a little attitude. Food was different than when we went in October. I still ranked them 4 stars but they need to stop allowing reservations if they won't accept.
The food was incredibly good, and this is one of the best outdoor dining spots in San Luis Obispo. It is sheltered from the wind, and also has great ambiance.
Absolutely delicious food. My family was visiting for the weekend and I wanted to choose somewhere that would please everyone and Mama's Meatball was perfect. Definitely make a reservation in advance to avoid any wait times on busy weekends.
Unfortunately, they decided to close for Christmas and didn’t notify us. Sad that we didn’t get the Christmas dinner we’d hoped for- we’re not from town so hopefully we get to go back and try what looked like yummy Italian food from the photos.
We got there for our restaurant at 6:30pm. Got there they said kitchen was closed will not take orders until 8:30. I confirmed reservation did not tell me that was the case. Very very disappointed. We came there, went down a 5.5 scary hill to get there. Bad Bad
Great. Ate outside. Had 3 course meal. Lots of food.
We had a lovely meal with friends and enjoyed the service and food. Thank you!
The best authentic Italian food on the west coast.
Food is flavorful, exactly like southern Italy.
Service is fantastic (Oscar) and we feel like family
when we dine there.
Thank you so much

Delicious and authentic Italian food...
Family run and always a pleasure to
Meet mama and son and staff
Delicious food and great staff/service. Can't ask for more
Great service and food with such mouth-watering flavors. I rarely visit SLO and when I do, I treat myself here. The suggested wine was very complimentary to the meal which the waiter encouraged. They have never steered me wrong.
Everything about our experience was perfect! The bread knots couldn’t come fast enough for our hungry table. Our waitress, Cambria was on point the whole night. Even through her mask we could see her bubbly personality along with her genuine love for where she works. Thank you for the amazing experience. We will be back!
Service awesome. Great food
Mamas food was out of this world! It is a hidden gem in the small town of San Luis Obispo. I have traveled the world, especially in southern Italy, and never tasted anything in the United States that would come close to Italian food, real Italian food! Until now, and sitting at mamas restaurant took us back to Europe, and there’s so excitement and complexity and flavor and all her dishes!! I got to meet mama Maria after our lunch. She is a gentle woman, but she is so old school, and it really shows up in all her food. I have been looking for a dessert called profiteroles, for a long time. And she has some of the best desserts in the world! We will Definitely never forget and want to come back as soon as possible!
One of the best restaurants I’ve been to in SLO! Incredible food, staff was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was wonderful. I highly recommend Mama’s Meatballs!
I am allergic to Gluten and they had plenty of options for me. The baked Penne and Salmon Piccata were wonderful! Wine list could use 1 nicer bottle of red.
We had a 5pm reservation. We were the second table to be seated after opening. Five tables got their dinner before we did. The table after us got their bill and left before we got our dinner. When we asked the server, she said there were a lot more online orders because it was cold that night. Seemed odd that five tables after us were served before us. Food is usually very good but it was a bit salty this evening. Haven't been there in a long time because of Covid. Not sure when we will be back.
