Mama's Boy Ratings and Reviews
If you make your reservation, make sure to wait and extra 45 minutes if you're not old money , look like you have a ton of money, or look like you're dressed like a kardashian. We asked multiple times after watching these types of people walk for 45 minutes AFTER our reservation come in and immediately get seated. When we asked one of three hostess', she told us they had reservations. We said we did too. She said stop yelling at me(we weren't yelling, even though now I wish we did) and go complain to the manager. Well the manager kept saying sorry sorry sorry and walked away.
The food was mediocre. The cheese wheel hype is only for lunch, and the drinks were so so(I also own a few cocktail bars in NYC)
And if they even knew who we were with(someone with LOTS of money, and a designer but doesn't flaunt it) they would have sat us down right away.
From the moment we walked in and spoke with the hostess, to the end of the meal when the executive chef came to our table to check on the food; the entire experience was delightful and went beyond our expectations. The food was absolutely delicious and the entire meal was made better by the attentive and helpful staff. We couldn't have had a better experience!
This Rosebud establishment has it all together. Location, Food, Service, Ambience.
We were actually able to carry on a conversation without yelling at eachother.
4 Meals 4 Satisfied customers, All portions were large and spiced perfectly, and arrived hot.
The kitchen and restrooms were spotless.
Can't wait to return.
Authentic Italian - excellent pizza, pasta, risotto. Start with drinks accompanied by olives and focaccia. Progress through the menu, pizza and salad are a great way to satisfy a lighter appetite or great options for a first course. Consider the beef carpaccio appetizer - enough to share, but so delicious you'll regret offering. Attentive service, nice wine selection (moderate to pricey) ask for recommendations. Having enjoyed opportunities to dine at Mama's Boy for dinner & lunch - I enthusiastically recommend !
The only down side are the high-school-locker-room bathroom stalls. When I've dressed up for an evening out I want a grown-up washroom, especially troubling with new or newly renovated restaurants, why would you skimp on your washrooms?
The food was excellent, and the service was fine, especially after two in our party of five arrived twenty minutes late. Before that, it was odd that they didn't ask if we wanted a cocktail or wine until about ten minutes after we sat down. We had a table right in front of the kitchen where you could watch meals being prepared in the cheese wheel.
The only complaint I have is with the valet. We had an early reservation, but when we pulled up, there was no attendant. The hostess took our key, and brought us the ticket a bit later.
Upon leaving, it took at least twenty minutes for our car to arrive. I thought it was nice that one of the hostesses was out in the vestibule chatting with us. Then I realized she was waiting for the valet to give them a ticket on behalf of another guest who evidently knew how bad the service was.
You would think that they could fix something basic like this. The only dark mark on an otherwise excellent evening.
Food very good indeed; Saturday noise level (table 34) was very high; In large part caused by staff standing in the kitchen speaking loudly and servers standing together near our table speaking loudly. Service was good to the point of pushy or churning. In future, we would choose to return on weekdays when not quite so busy. However, we will return!
We dined at Mama's Boy with friends before the theater Friday evening. We were all very impressed with the restaurant's vibe, decor and the service but the food was the star of the show! We started with the meatball appetizer followed by the chicken soup - both were delicious! My husband and I split a pasta dish and our friends split the risotto. Both entrees were outstanding. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely go back!
I had fettuccine with clams but their menu has it named something fancier and it was amazing to say the least! I thought it was super cool that the chef stopped at tables and helped served too! I was impressed that I NEVER once had to ask for more water since they had a person assigned to make sure people's glasses were always filled!
Thoroughly enjoyed my experience here. Everyone from the hostess to the executive chef was extremely friendly and welcoming. The chef came around and personally introduced himself to guests, handed out business cards, and also allowed me to watch him mix my risotto in the giant Parmesan cheese wheel. The ambiance was quiet and relaxing and the food was delicious. For dessert, we ordered the coconut cake which was HUGE. The service here is unmatched.
We waited 20 minutes for our 8 PM reservation to start with. The server said it was his first day so maybe some of this was caused by the server. My appetizer was taken away before I had finished it as the entrée came right on top of it. there were four of us at the table, we were only served two rolls. A side of pasta with expensive and small portion of veal would have been appropriate. Drink ordered without ice came with ice. On the plus side, you were very attentive and the food itself was excellent.
We went there on a Sunday with 2 other couples. Everyone raved about their own dishes. I had the spinach and Kale salad and loved the beet vinaigrette on it. The brick chicken takes 30 minutes to cook but is fall off the bone tender. The portion is big enough to share. One of our friends had the white fish which was flaky and tender. This is part of the Rosebud restaurant family and the attention to detail is evident. I would highly recommend this place as well as the other Rosebud locations.
