Lots of knats (very small flies) flying around. Many went in our food, thankfully after we were finished eating! Otherwise, great experience
Great meal in a wonderfully convenient location. The ambiance was nice and the restaurant was quiet enough to speak and be heard. It is hard to find restaurants where you can talk to others at the table. This was definitely the place to go. We drove in from the north shore and when we arrived, we realized that others we knew from the suburbs were also there.
The food was delightful.
We will surely return for another dinner.
Excellent service! We loved the food! Little salty but overall, delicious!
Wonderful Food, Service and ambiance. One of our favorite spots. Italian food features light flavorful sauces opposed to the heavy sauces of most Italian restaurants. Love the eggplant parm! My husband also enjoyed his Salmon. Many wines by the glass. Will return
This was my third time here and I absolutely LOVE it here. The entire staff makes you feel like you are family. The food is fresh and fabulous. Chef David is from Italy and actually created a dish not on the menu at the request of my son. Don’t be swayed by the location in the base of a Hampton Inn- once you get inside you are transported to a wonderful experience that will make you excited to return.
Absolutely amazing! From the music to the food and of course the service!! Service was outstanding! We came in with our suitcases on our way to the airport and they made sure to keep them
Safe up front for us while we dined! The gnocchi was absolutely amazing! Overall awesome vibe and will definitely go back when we are in Chicago again!
I live closeby to Mama’s Boy in River north Chicago and always feel welcome here and have good meals for New Years Eve , Valentines , Ladies happy hours and past birthday dinners / celebrations ! Food is amazing !
Upon my arrival the host tried to seat my daughter and husband in the bar area. I told her, "No I would prefer to seat in the dining room...she told me, they were booked and that it would be a half hour wait." I then told her, "No, Im not seating here, I made reservations." She had the nerve to tell me, "People made reservations months in advance." Long story short, she sat us in the dining room, but we had the WORST TABLE in the place. In the front, by the door where the traffic was horrible!!!
We had a great first experience at Mamas Boy. Delicious food and excellent service.
Food was great I can’t wait to go back again and service was fantastic love you boys for the best experience as always
Get invited into the kitchen to watch the chef prepare risotto in a wheel of cheese! Absolutely delicious!
Small portions unlike other Rosebud restaurants. Weird server and staff vibe. Not fun. Very disappointed. Will not go back or recommend.
The service was great - the servers work really well as a team and they were all extremely friendly & accommodating. I was super excited to see that they make their orecchiette in house (something I always have a hard time finding in Chicago). Unfortunately it was quite overcooked and essentially turned to mush in the dish. We had the burrata salad/appetizer which was just okay, and my friends each had the cacio e pepe risotto which they both seemed to like quite a bit.
I might give the orecchiette one more try but otherwise don't see any reason to return.
Amazing!!! Great staff, amazing food and great ambiance.
Food was excellent but the service really made the experience special. Family of four and the kids can be picky. Our server (Cesar) connected with them right away and helped them navigate the menu, even helping our son put together a pasta & chicken dish that was off the menu. He loved it. There’s a mirror in the dining room that reflects over the chefs in the kitchen so you can watch them preparing meals. My wife asked about one of the dishes being prepared and was told it was a lobster ravioli that was being prepped to be on the following nights menu. It looked delicious and Cesar was able to get her the dish for our meal. Thank you!
Food and service was excellent!
The pasta was delish!! Handmade oh so good! Our first time here and on the list for a place to return!
Always friendly service and very good food for value
Excellent Chef and service!
Service was hoovering, removing dishes and drinks before finishing. The food was not worth the price.
This was our second visit to Mama's Boy and it lived up to what we remembered. The service and attention to detail was excellent. We had relatively early (6:45) reservations and although the train got us here much earlier, we were seated promptly when we arrived at 6:15. The wines were expertly presented to us and our server answered our menu questions. The pasta is to die for. Fresh and perfectly prepared. Although the restaurant became CROWDED while we were dining we never felt rushed and enjoyed a leisurely experience. The managers checked in on us and remembered us from our first visit some months back. If I had to state one request, please lower your corkage fee ($35) or perhaps bring in some varietals in the $40 range. We opted for a single glass of wine instead of the bottle as we traditionally enjoy.
Overall, still a wonderful experience!
The service and food was wonderful. It was classic Italian and everything we ordered was so tasty. The meatball appetizer was amazing. Service was good. I look forward to dining her again.
Amazing service and food in a setting buzzing with energy!
There were three of us including my 10 year old daughter we had reservations and had to wait a bit at bar but was fine. The host asked us if we wanted to sit at the chef’s table which was awesome. My daughter loved it and the chef made faces at her through glass and took a pic with her. It was her favorite restaurant during our weekend stay in Chicago.
We had to wait a half hour for our table when we had a reservation and arrived 10 mins early. No one seemed to care. Waiter was not very attentive. Too many better choices in Chicago to go back.
Food is incredible and service is wonderful!
The food was outstanding and the waiter made the night perfect! Fantastic place to eat!
Meh, i expected more. First off i hate those half bench seat 2 top tables squeezed in a foot from each other. I don't need to watch the couple next to me taking pictures of the risotto in front of them and posting on facebook(to my right) or see the hipster manchild next to me picking the scabs from his new arm tattoo while he talks to his dinner companion(to my left). I really believe any restaurant that cares about its diners will give them the space to enjoy the dining experience without close up.... and sometimes gross distraction. Food was decent. There are other options for more intimate and unrushed dining in this city. The waiter even discouraged us from the parmesan risotto made in the parm wheel as basically a gimmick with better items on the menu. Will i return, prolly not.
Service was amazing. Bar staff so friendly and knowledgeable. Excellent evening.
Excellent food. Being able to watch your food prepared in the parmesan wheel was amazing. Great service. We really enjoyed our dining experience.
Third time to this restaurant. I had the Chicken Vesuvio. Not very good. Friend had the gnocchi. Tastier.
Food was great
The chef is amazing. Great service. Food is some of the best in the city.
Excellent Italian food & great service
Marcello was a wonderful waiter! He helped us pick dinners and really added to our experience. The Branzino fish special was wonderful.
Excellent Italian foo
Restaurant now closed
Cheese wheel pasta very intense. Hard for one person to eat. Very good though. Chilean sea bass was absolutely phenomenal. Calamari was also wonderful.
The food was outstanding. I had the Parmesan rissoto and my boyfriend had the lamb chops. He said they were the best lamb chops he’s ever had. We also had the chocolate lava cake, delicious ! We went here on a Saturday night and it was busy, so our waiter was not as attentive as I had hoped. There were many times I had to ask for another Diet Coke because he did not stop by. We did not order any alcohol as my boyfriend and I do not drink. He seemed to be much more attentive to the tables that had alcohol. Overall the food was great, but service can be better.
Great with kids too.
