Mamma Silvia’s Italian Kitchen
Food and service was excellent. Ambiance was just fine. Only complaint was I asked to SUBSTITUTE pasta for potatoes and veggies with my Marsala. They did but my Substitute pasta costs me 6 bucks extra. Did not get potatoes or veggies. Felt a little ripped.
The meal we had last night was one of the best we have had in town. The squash bloom appetizer was amazing. Love having dinner here.
Warm bread with roasted garlic, olive oil and balsamic vinegar were served after we were seated. Their lasagna sauce combines the best of both worlds marinara and Alfredo. The lobster ravioli in a lobster cream sauce is rich and indulgent. The veal piccata was so tender you could cut it with a fork and the sauce was amazing with the lemony flavors accompanied by the briny capers, onions and mushrooms. For dessert we indulged in the ginger cream brûlée with strawberries. We shared and even though I was stuffed I could have eaten an entire brûlée by myself it was so delicious.
Great food and excellent service
Great place! Hope they survive the Virus!! We will return to try to help.
Both food and service was excellent. Best meal in Durango by far, would highly recommend.
We had an excellent waitress. Love their food as we are regulars. I was very comfortable with the separated seating.
Delicious meal and great service.
Great food and perfect atmosphere
Our waitress was excellent. She was knowledgeable but not pushy and very hospitable.
I love Italian food and I think this is the best Italian restaurant in Durango. My girlfriend's and my dinners were good, but the only negative is that the mussels meat were very small, but tasty.
Birthday. Included that info to restaurant. No response no big deal. First time there was what brought us back. However the quality etc was remiss this time around. Burned lasagna and no second glass of wine. Coffee came out after last bite of dessert. It was a Sunday evening. Head chef had a day off? Shrug. Just one of those times? We’ll go back one more time. With expectations lowered. Maybe it’ll be better next time. Not even sure if the owner was in. At least I had a semi decent veal parmigiana.
Very friendly and attentive staff, authentic and delicious Italian cuisine that's artfully presented.
It was our first time to Mamma Silvia's Italian Kitchen. My husband and I live here and we had a visitng friend - a performer with the San Juan Symphony.
We went to dinner early after the Sunday matinee performance, with a reservation. I was surprised by how full the restaurant was, but it is small and quickly filled.
The salads were wonderful - fresh and creative. The entrees were delicious. And dessert was a beauty!
Our server was Jordan, who was attentive without being intrusive.
We VERY much enjoyed our dining experience. And we will be back!
The menu has a wide variety of choices, and the dishes that we ordered were excellent. Pricing was mid range. Fairly nice wine list with some inexpensive choices. Service was a little rough at times, and most servers know that a gin and tonic should have a lime in it and not two olives. Probably just lack of experience.
We have been to Mamma Silvia's several times now. Consistently very, very good. The staff is great. Portions are perfect. Highly recommend.
Excellent Italian food has come to Durango! Roasted garlic to start, then a chicken parm dinner that was crispy on the outside with a tasty tomato sauce. Baked Tortellini dish was very filling and quite tasty. Our new favorite place!
I had the smallest 12 dollar glass of wine I've ever seen
Best Italian food we have had in the area. Will he back.
The atmosphere is quiet with low lights. The food is delicious and not too big portions. Service was friendly and helpful.
Excellent food and friendly, attentive service. One of the more expensive Durango restaurants, but worth it.
Yes, but, portions were small and pricey. Salad came almost after my dinner. They didn't charge us, but did ask if I still wanted it. Service was fair. Forgot salad and forgot when asked for a little more bread. It was not very busy. Also cleared table before everyone was done eating!
Food is really good. Service always excellent. Love this little place. Has become our go-to Italian restaurant here in Durango since Guidos closed.
Colton was our server and was very courteous and helpful. We will enjoy coming again.
The staff is great!
The food is always excellent.
Portion size was a little small.
Wonderful Christmas Eve dinner. The food was great and service, too!
Great customer service and food. We will definitely be back!
We had a great experience! The Gorgonzola steak was tender, perfectly cooked with a delicious sauce. I got the herb potatoes which were also delicious, but am excited to try the polenta next time. Lasagna was the special for the night and 2 friends ordered it. Oddly, the lasagna did not have any noodles; rather, bread in place of. They loved it! Our fourth friend ordered the cheese tortellini dish and it was fantastic also. Our desserts were the best. The cheesecake was coated sort of like a creme brulee topping, but very delicate and wonderful with a light crunch. We have discovered a new restaurant that will be one of our "regulars" now. Highly recommend!
Never disappointed when we visit. Wish they had a more extensive wine list and would ask for different pasta with my Carbonara-they were like sons noodles-would prefer something less bulky. The mussels are great and the veal were great! Server and manager were friendly. Will definitely be back! Thankful to have good Italian food in Durango!
Food was great, service was great, but the tables are so close together you cannot have a good conversation with your party.
The barrata caprese is the best thing on the menu My husband loves the osso bucco. But
$17 for an ordinary Manhattan is outrageous.
We were very pleased with our initial experience at mamma silvia's. I had the 'special' which was pumpkin ravioli in a sage butter sauce. it was extremely good. My husband had a "regular" dish or penne with sausage and eggplant and it was also incredibly good. We think it is much better than the other italian restaurant in town, which we used to like a great deal, but which more recently, seems to be 'going through the motions'. We do not understand some of the negative reviews posted here about Mamma Silvia's - although it is always possible the kitchen had an off-nite. We fully intend to return and have no reservations about recommending Mamma Silvia's to a friend.
I ordered the spaghetti al pesto (I think that's the right spelling). It was delicious. The only critique I would have is that some of the sun dried tomatoes were a little tough. When I use sun dried tomatoes, I let them soak in hot water until they're softened.
Delicious food. Great service. We look forward to returning.
Food was absolutely fantastic. Service good, expect a bit of a wait although worth it! The food was the best true Italian cuisine I have experienced in Durango. Far exceeds other choices. Made to order, super fresh. In my opinion, the food is so good it deserves a better ambiance/building. Feels crowded, was a bit drafty and cold where we were seated directly in front of cooking station. Lots of activity in that particular spot with servers going back and forth from restaurant next door. Hallways and bathrooms were in need of repair. Other than that, all is worth it!
Soooo good. I haven’t ordered anything but the chicken Parmesan because it’s great, but every other person I’ve been there with has enjoyed their entrees.
Have always had great meals and service ..
Feels like your in an Italian home with Mama and her sons.
Monday night 6 of us ordered differently, and all of us had a bad experience. The ‘A’ team was not there and all the dishes were salty beyond words. service was slow and confusing.
I always get the seafood dishes and they are always Awesome!!
I tried the eggplant this time and it was Fabulous!
Get the bruschetta with the tuna!! It’s to die for!!
We dined at East by Southwest the night before going to this restaurant. When I saw the wine list it was the same list from East by Southwest which was right next door. I asked the waiter why this was so and he told me both restaurants were owned by the same owner. My wife and I left immediately. If you want to know why, see my review of East by Southwest.
