I had been here years ago and remembered it fondly. The restaurant has undergone some changes and has lost some of the charm. Simple cocktails (especially for an Italian restaurant) had to be sent back, example “Negroni” made with no Compari and almost 100% Vermouth. Ordered 2 house Chiantis which were fine, but nothing special, and they charged $18 per glass. Italian Chop Salad was very good, and huge, easy to share. Lasagna was OK, but too much cheese. The saving grace: the waitress was very nice, tried hard to please. I wouldn’t recommend it, especially at those prices. Too many other Italian options to choose from in the area.
Prices are outrageous. Staff is inexperienced. I asked for chicken piccata not breaded and I got chicken piccata with a coating of white flour. All I tasted was the white flour in every bite.
Food was not great tonight. Chicken parmesan was tough. Veal was bland, service was terrible.
We were celebrating two birthdays. The food was delicious. We all loved the chopped salad. My niece had a snapper dish that was fabulous. Everyone left stuffed and happy.
Great homemade food
Very nice. It was our first time here. There is PLENTY of food to pick from. Great and attentive staff, including the owner! The live saxophone music added an extra special touch. If you love pasta and homemade Italian food, you can’t beat Mama Mia’s!
The all you can eat lobster was awesome!!! They give you bread, soup, potato and corn. They ran out of the whole lobsters kind of early. However, they ended up giving us lobster tails. The only concern was the wait time for the lobster tails. Other than that i recommend everyone trying it out.
Great atmosphere, the valet guy was extremely nice
The service was a little slow and the restaurant was clean and not crowded, but the food was tasteless. There were 9 of us . The food came out hot but wasn’t all that good. I would rate them as mediocre.
We've eaten at Mama Mia's numerous times and we have never been disappointed. Their food and service is excellent! If you're thinking of going to this neighborhood gem, please do. You will not be disappointed!
The food was outstanding. We hadn’t been here for many years. We each got a different pasta dish. Each one was outstanding. The decor, table settings and inside could use an update. The service was very slow. At the end of our meal we could of walked out and not paid , and it would of taken them awhile to figure out. Of course we didn’t do this. But, I took my mom out, got the car from valet, parked the car with my mom inside and went back in to see what was up with the check and my dad still was waiting for it. When they did bring it, they didn’t bring a pen. Just saying!
Not only did they say they lost my reservation, I showed the Mgr my cell phone with the open table reservation. He blew me off, place was so loud, had a guitar player playing to tracks, he started as we got out appetizers, he was so loud we could not have a conversation. We complained to the Mgr, (same guy), he’s said he would try to turn it down but blew it off. Then they lost our dinner ticket in the kitchen, waited over an hour, finally we asked for it to go because it was getting late. Food was poor at best.
Place is awful!
Good food and portion size. Liked the live jazz. Food was fresh and authentic. Good staff. Will go again.
I have dined at Mama Mia's many times. This time was a mess to say the least. Our waiter was nonexistent most of the meal, floating by on occasion, also causing us to suffer long delays from the time of making a request to delivering the item to our table. At one point, the patron at the next table decided to 'help' his server and remove a large platter from the serving tray thereby causing the tray to be unbalanced and subsequently spill onto our table and in the fray knocking everything on our table over, onto our laps and clothing. Did our waiter EVER show up? NOPE. Other wait staff took care of us, cleaned up the mess and moved us to another table. We requested replacement soups from our waiter once we were reseated which came out after the mains (which could have been held) and on and on throughout the course of the evening. Our waiter's manner was pleasant but his skills totally inept. The manager did come over to apologize and at the end removed our charges for dessert and drinks. I felt he could have gone farther in his gesture(s) considering the resultant dry cleaning bills that we will incur as a result of the meal. Additionally, the food was cool to cold and the lobster tails seemed frozen/defrosted. Normally I would write a glowing review after having dined at Mama Mia's many times, but this time was a nightmare. Hopefully this was just an anomaly and will not be the norm.
A great find while we were on vacation Beautiful place , waiter was friendly & food was delicious!! Definitely would come back
Good food, great ambiance. But sit a bit away from the entertainment because very load.
Great food love this restaurant good service
Server brought bread but forgot to put in oven it was cold.
Ordered coffee and it never came!
Other than those 2 things every was great!
Food did not come out for 1+ hour. If you are not Caucasian, don't brother going. You'll be treated poorly
Great food, diverse menu. Great pour on the drinks. Great service. This place is a keeper
This place was amazing. It was kind of a random pick for my friends and I, but it ended up being our favorite restaurant we went to during our vacation! Amazing staff, so friendly and accommodating. Great sized portions for the dollar amount.
The service was fantastic. Upon walking in the door we were greeted with a sincerely warm welcome. We were given seating options so we’d be most comfortable. The meal started with amazing garlic bread. Almost like a garlic knot. We ordered an appetizer- Sicilian Pizza which was the best we’d ever had. Our entrees consisted of the lobster tortelloni and the shrimp risotto. Both were enormous portions and freshly prepared, served piping hot. A fabulous restaurant that is highly recommended.
The server was very friendly and attentive.
Out of the Entrée menu, my first and second choice was not available. Eventually when my fish dish arrived, the sweet potatoes and potatoes were black burned.
Not a tasty experience.
Very friendly atmosphere, food was delicious over all we had a lovely time.
Nice place. Staff was friendly. Food was very good. Electric Violinist was great. We had a fun family dinner!
nice place, the meals was excellent, and good service. we well visit you again, thank you for the nice evening. chantalb
All you can eat lobster a bargain at $44.95! We had 5 each.
It was all you can eat lobster night but because we had an Open Table reservation we were told we could not partake. We ordered from the menu and everything was very good.
The food was Awful. The only food that is good was the breaks and ricotta cheese
Food was excellent 😀
We went for the all you can eat lobster. I opted for the veal chop Parmesan which was average. But the dinner rolls with ricotta cheese to start were yummy. And my husband thoroughly enjoyed the lobster. The side dishes which accompanied the lobster were awful! The corn was over cooked and the potatoes were not edible. Luckily we were done eating when the manager announced they were out of lobsters. The other patrons were not happy!
We have lived in the Hollywood area for over 30 years and have always talked about going there for dinner but never did. Finally we decided to go and I'm glad we did. The food was great and the portions were gigantic. We ate that night and leftovers all weekend. The night we were there they had a gentleman playing the violin and it was very nice. My wife loved it and it earned me a lot of brownie points. We will definitely be going back soon.
Italian at it's best! Enjoyed everything and Dallas was a great waiter.
Quick easy dinner with family
décor was minimalistic/cheap-looking, food quality was just fine, prices were too high for the quality of food, most wait staff did not look professional enough depending on who you had, music that night was better than average to great, to me it seems like an attempt to look like a fine dining restaurant with the prices to go with it but a minimal investment to pull it off
The food and the service was excellent also the valet parking.
Very good food and service.
Good value for the price.
Recommended!!
I made a reservation through opentable but I don't think the hostess even looked at it, which is ok because the restaurant was not busy at that time.
The garlic bread was ok, nothing spectacular, the macaroni and cheese lobster was ok as well, we didn't get the lobster crackers to crack the lobster at the beginning so while we were waiting for it, the food was getting cold. The stuffed lobster was ok too, nothing special about it.
Nothing bad to say about the restaurant, maybe it was the choices we got.
Mama Mia’s was a nice find for us while staying in Hollywood Fl
Our pastas dinners we chose were delicious and to top the night off, Alex Fox was the entertainment for the evening, and he was terrific
We enjoyed ourselves
