Mama Mia Trattoria
I would recommend Mama Mia. Good food good service and relaxing atmosphere.
Very beautiful place. The food is wonderful and thoughtful. My husband says this is his new go-to Italian restaurant.
1st time here. BEST Italian food! From the moment you walk in you know it is going to be a great experience, it feels like home. For appetizer's we ordered garlic bread, which is FRESH bread with lots of butter and perfect amount of garlic melted. The Fried Motzerella was homemade as well with Rich cheese and a great dipping sauce, which doubled as dipping sauce for the bread. I ordered the Fettuchini Alfredo with chicken and the Alfredo sauce was so flavorful and rich. The chicken was fresh and moist. My husband ordered the Chicken Parmesan and it was absolutely amazing! You can taste the difference with all of the fresh ingredients and everything being homemade.
The service by Nick was absolutely fantastic! He went above and beyond and we felt like we were his only table. We will be going back very soon!!!
Great place and location! A little pricey is all.
Our server Raechel was great.
Salmon was under-seasoned and a bit over-cooked. Only compliant about server would be that she didn’t ask temperature of salmon. I didn’t realize she didn’t ask until it was too late.
Salted caramel ice cream was too salty.
Minestrone was delicious. Light and a perfect app.
Loved the Caesar salad.
Desserts were very good.
Would definitely recommend and give them a chance to make up for small “mistakes”. Thanks for having us.
Mama Mia Trattoria is a favorite of ours when dining downtown. This was our second visit during the holiday season. The location is ideal, food is always delicious, and service very good as well. Nice spot for dinner, and then there are several spots within walking distance for cocktails afterward!
Incredible food, friendly and thorough service, great atmosphere!!!! Will be coming back for sure!
We had a lovely unhurried evening. Arrived about 20 minutes early and had cocktails until our table was ready. Started with fried zucchini and the Caprese, which were not stellar. Beefsteak tomatoes just don’t have the right flavor profile for caprese. The zucchini batter was over-salted and there was a lot of oil in the plate. We managed to enjoy them.
Then I had the Scampi and my friend had the Chicken Marsala. Both Excellent! The shrimp were perfectly cooked, the linguine al dente and the lemon cream sauce piquant. The Marsala was also succulent, the sauce exactly right. Generous portions meant leftovers. Well, not of the shrimp...never as good the second day.
For dessert we shared the flourless chocolate torte with raspberry sorbet and a glass of port. The torte was fabulous and the sorbet exquisite! The port was a tad disappointing for a Malvedos, but paired with the torte just fine.
We couldn’t recall if we’d been to Mama Mia’s before — 27 years of dining out in Portland can blur things — but we’d certainly go again.
A wonderful experience on Christmas Eve with our family of 9 in a semi-private area. The food was delicious, the service out of this world. We had hyperactive little kids and the servers were so patient. It was truly a festive evening.
This was a great experience. Better than expected all around. Great place for a first date or anniversary to business meeting.
Taking family out for a special dinner before going to the Nutcracker ballet.
Food and service were good, as always. We will return.
One of our favorite Italian places in town. Mama Mia never disappoints. Food is great and service is outstanding. Great for families and groups.
The food was fine but on the salty side for us. Great customer service. Very traditional Italian. The decor looks outdated.
We had the veal parmezaan and the gnocchi pesto.
This was my 3rd time eating there and it's really good and consistent. The staff is excellent as well. will return for sure!
Excellent food, good service, had reservations and got seated right on time, very nice experience and we'll go back for sure!
This is a wonderful Italian restaurant. And especially great for my gluten free sister. Both pasta- she found excellent - and pizza available gluten free. We shared a dinner salad and a bowl of minestrone soup. They split the salad which was so crispy and wonder ful toppings , the soup even my niece really liked. My sister had meatballs, I had a meat sauce, my niece loved her Alfredo - pasta dishes. Lovely desserts. The flourless chocolate cake and a custard. We had to, we were so happy!!! We love Portland 💕 and this restaurant.
Date night including dinner after the Trans Siberian Orchestra concert. Warm and cozy inside, great food with an excellent Caesar salad. This is one of the few restaurants that serves veal scallopine anymore. Awesome flavor!
This is my sister’s favorite restaurant in town so I wanted to make sure that I took her somewhere special
We enjoyed ourselves. Great food and pricing, throw back style veal Marsala was wonderful, side spaghetti was bland Manila clam app was very good as well as the heirloom tomato salad.
Incredible food and service! The place was packed in the bar and in the dining room yet service and food were on point! All of our meals were delicious with a nice authentic flare. Try the cheesecake for dessert - absolutely delicious!
Just like a great home cooked Italian dinner...from Italy! Nothing fancy just enjoyable spot to get a nice dinner out...
The food was not that good. Nothing special. We could have made better food at home. It was overpriced, not real special. My husband ordered The veal scallopini and the last two slices were rare, unable to be eaten. Service was friendly but again, not worth the cost.
This is a fabulous eatery!
Great family dinner with drinks, appetizers, mains and dessert. Excellent service and awesome food. Will be back
We have found in our opinion the best Italian restaurant in the Portland area. Fantastic service and delicious food. When ever we come to Portland this is where we plan to go for our Italian food fix.
Our second visit to Mama Mia. We had a wonderful dinner. With the inclusion of two little grandsons this restaurant is great for us.
We will be back again!!
Cute place. Wonderful food. Amazing service. Nice music.
The ambiance was great, staff pleasant, but the food was largely bland and boring.
Decor seems outdated. Food was mediocre at best. Service was earnest but sub-par.
Great quality food at a fair price. Excellent service and attention to detail.
They made my husband's birthday a great experience. Fun and romantic setting!
I loved the atmosphere and experience and the cocktails were great! The pasta was over cooked and didn’t have a ton of flavor but it was still ok. Overall great experience!
Lasagna, garlic bread, zucchini sticks, chicken fettuccine alfredo, minestrone soup. Dessert hot powered donuts with amazing strawberry jelly & hot fudge. 💯💯💯💯🤗🤗🤗🤗
We had a great time. We went in a Friday evening and it wasn’t too crowded. Service was great, food was very good. We had pasta dishes and appetizers so can’t say about the pizza. Nice ambiance. I’d go back. Go if you are hungry. Large portions of comfort food!
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal! I was especially happy for the opportunity to enjoy gluten free (rice) pasta. It was very tasty! My husband enjoyed his chicken piccata and the dairy free ice cream.
They have a nice cocktail menu and good wine offerings. The ambiance is very nice and service was terrific!
We would return!
Food was yummy service was great
Mama Mia's has been one of my favorites. I've loved the Caeser Salad until this visit. Previous, for me, it was the best in Portland. But this visit something was missing, not the same. In addition the Pesto Paste has been my go to order. This occasion it was acceptable but I didn't take leftovers home.
Service was also mediocre. We had to request several things that should have been provided without asking.
I will probably return for another try but if the return is similar to this occasion, instead of back to excellence as many previous visits, it sadly will be the last.
Have eaten here before and enjoyed it. The others at my table enjoyed their food, but the gnocchi I had was burnt on one side, spoiling my meal. I’ll give them another chance.
Appetizers (calamari) and desserts (tiramisu) were excellent. Entrees were meh. I had the spaghetti carbonara and, except for the pancetta it was relatively flavorless. It tasted like the salt for the pasta water was forgotten. Wife had the chicken Marsala and it lacked the flavor that Marsala usually adds to this dish. Although it was plenty of food I feel it was overpriced for the quality. Recommended for dessert but not for dinner. There is better Italian elsewhere for similar prices.
