About Maloney & Porcelli

Maloney & Porcelli is a clubby new American restaurant that draws inspiration from a simpler time when three martini lunches were alive and well, steak was for dinner, and servers anticipated guests’ every need, even completing dishes tableside. Begin meals at Maloney & Porcelli with a selection of shellfish, salads or favorites such as Scallops, Peekytoe Crabcake, or Steak Carpaccio that is finished tableside. For the main course, there is a choice of steaks and shanks, including the famed Crackling Pork Shank with Firecracker Applesauce, lobsters and composed options such as Chicken Under a Brick, Pan-Seared Atlantic Salmon, or Sunday Lasagna. An array of inventive sides complete the meal, like Gruyere Soufflé, Fried Herb Tater Tots, Hash Browns. The desserts inspire nostalgia with an individual red velvet cake served, Sunday Jubilee, and a selection of house-made sorbets, sherbets and ice creams.

The music playing on a Friday evening at 7pm was a strange choice (rap). It did not fit the ambience of the restaurant. My husband throughly enjoyed his Bronson Pinchot filet. My lobster ravioli fell short. Service was attentive.

Our server was great & knowledgable about the wine selection. We shared the porterhouse for two and the steak was truly incredible. The crust on it was amazing! Definitely a great choice for Vday

Went for Restaurant Week which I feel always leads to a meal that just isn't quite the same as the normal experience. Our food was fine, but it felt like if we had ordered from the regular dinner menu instead of the Restaurant Week menu it would have been much better.

We chose restaurant for restaurant week.
All the food was tasty. However all but one of us had some issues. Two in our party ordered the cavatelli with shrimp. It was flavorful but each got a portion that was at most 3 tablespoons and minuscule amount of shrimp.
One of the filet ordered medium was very rare.
The waiter forgot a salad that he recommended but when brought to his attention did offer a complimentary desserts.
We had a nice evening and would try again.

Seated promptly -- up in balcony. A little less noisy. Went for Restaurant week. Service sluggish (but in defense it also was very busy). Wine a little outrageous -- $16 a glass for Montepulciano. Pretzel breadstick was OK, mustard butter was weird. Scallop app not bursting, meatball app OK, filet cooked correctly, tender. Sautéed mushrooms could have been cooked a little more to release additional flavor. Banana ice cream was delish, brownie underneath (or whatever it was) needed to be cut with a jackhammer. Chocolate icebox cake was delish ... a perfect accompaniment to the ice cream actually. My dining partner and I split the apps, the mushrooms, and the desserts ... that's why it looks like I ate so much. :)

Came here last night for a dinner doing the RW menu. The appetizers of the scallops and steak tartar was delicious but the filet mignon was absolutely disgusting. There was barely any salt on the steak and the texture of it was so odd that we questioned whether it was actually a filet mignon cut. Desserts of the chocolate cake and banana cream pie ice cream were good. Service was pretty much non-existant. Only one server who came for the second half of our meal with grayish hair and glasses was very lovely and sweet but our main server was practically mute and she barely came to our table. First and last time going here.

The food was good and the atmosphere was as well. The service was on point. However, I can’t say I was “blown away” in any way by this restaurant. I understand it’s midtown Manhattan so it’s going to be expensive but I’ve been to other places in the city that were less expensive and far better.

Food was good, but overpriced. We had the Porter House for two, good meat and well prepared. The highlight was the King Crab, the appetizer. The thing that I really desliked was the temperature. Not sure if the heat was broken, but everyone was having dinner with their jackets on. I asked probably 3 times to have it turned up a little, the waiter kept saying ‘of course, I’ll fix it right away’, but he never did. That made us leave quickly and skip dessert. To cold to hang out.

Very disappointing. While the Filet was good the Pork Osso Buco was terrible. Overcooked , very low quality of meat, not at all tender, hard and almost inedible. Portion size was also skimpy but given the quality it really didn't matter. Restaurant was freezing cold. Would not recommend.

We always love MP But was also great taking our friends there for restaurant week. Now they want to come back for the pork shank. Drinks are great and even when the bartender made a mistake he came to us and mixed it correctly for the lady in our party. Always love and recommend this place.

The restaurant was very busy. It took quite some time until our order was taken. And quite some time until the first course was served. The vegetable for the table did not come with our entrees. After asking about it the server apologized. About 5 min later (app 15 min after the entrees arrived) the server brought 2 vegetables (no charge).
The food was very good.

It was extremely cold where I was sitting. Service was very slow- waited close to an hour for the check. Granted we were chatting and finishing up wine for part of the hour by server never came by to ask if we wanted the check and we had trouble flagging her down when we decided we really wanted to leave. Restaurant week menu was okay. Had the meatball salad appetizer it was nothing special and came out only moderately warm. Filet was very good, but my friends wasn’t medium rare as she ordered it so she didn’t enjoy hers as much. Dessert was a cookie plate, it was awful. The cookies were in no way fresh it tasted like they were store brand junk from Duane Reade that they picked up around the corner. Overall the experience was disappointing I wouldn’t go back.

The whole meal was fantastic. Everything was just the right portion and the staff here was so polite. If there was an empty glass, they filled it. If there was a crumb, they had a brush to brush it off. If I had a question, they were quick to offer an answer. The only thing I thought was strange was the timing. We didn’t spend more than an hour there. Everything came out so fast! Almost too fast. My date and I barely had time to talk. I would 100% eat here again, but would slowly eat so I could spend more time there.

Outstanding filet--huge 10 oz, and done just right. Osso buco not so generous or flavorful. M&P needs some wines in the lower range--$40's. Choc cake was good but not outstanding. For such a good (expensive) restaurant the premier dessert should be OUTSTANDING. A good experience for NYC Restaurant Week. A bit expensive for regular dinner out with family member.

3 of my friends and I, chose this place for restaurant week so we were limited by the smaller restaurant week menu, which was fine as that's why we were there. The atmosphere was lively, drinks good but the service was outstanding. From the concierge to the wait staff, they were very attentive although the place, which is huge, was jammed pack. The only thing I didn't like was the entree. I ordered the Branzino, which I've had and made myself many times but this branzino was stuffed with thyme and thyme was all over the top of the fish. Too much thyme! A huge plus was the executive chef came over to our table, introduced himself and asked if we needed anything. Didn't have the heart to complain about the dish. Everyone else ordered the surf & turf dish and were pleased with their dishes. I would recommend this place just because of the great service but if you are going to order the fish and not crazy about thyme, tell the staff to go easy on the thyme lol.

We went for restaurant week, the idea behind restaurant week was to incent people to eat out in the off season between the holidays and Valentine's day. Even tourists traffic is low in the cold NY winter. The issue seems to be that servers are disgruntled due to the potentially lower gratuity as opposed to recognizing that the restaurant could be empty AND maybe, if you showcase your restaurant and service you will earn repeat business. Our service could not have been worse. First, they brought the wrong wine, an error if not caught would have cost us an additional 30 dollars. We had to ask for the restaurant week menu, I feel they should offer it The wait was beyond any reason. At one point the chef came out to ask about our meal, how would we know? The bottom line is, if a restaurant is not going to do restaurant week right, don't participate. Our meals were fair at best- cold, not crispy French fries, charred steak, average chicken. Very disappointing.

Disappointing, from the waiting for hostess for ages to lukewarm scallop appetizer. Banquet seating with springs that have seen better days. For the price point we truly expected better. Wait staff were attentive and friendly. Steak was good, sides were over prices and chocolate cake was so dry i never finished it. I'm in no rush to return

Waited 1 hour 15 minutes for appetizer from time of seating. Ordered off restaurant week menu. Nothing was like or on regular menu and some items were made earlier to fill the need.....cold, dry, and hard. Eat all the time at 4 and 5 star restaurants....this is a 2.5.

We went for Restaurant Week. As expected, it was very busy but the service was still very bad. Too many people were (not) taking care of us, we waited over an hour for our entree, the white wine we ordered was not chilled nor was it presented in a cooler which we had to ask for.
Luckily the surf & turf was really good as was my scallop starter, otherwise I would have given less stars. Definitely not coming back or recommending.

The food here is quite good. We came for a birthday and ordered off the Restaurant Week menu. The selections were varied and a good value. The service in our section was lacking. At the start, things were fine but as the evening grew more crowded, the service level dropped substantially. Overall, a very good meal, but that service issue detracted from the experience.

While we have loved M&P over the years our recent visit was a disappointment. The food and wine were a treat as usual the service was sub-par. Our server ignored our requests not to rush us though our courses on a slow Sunday night until we refused to accept the entrees based on our instructions to wait until we told him we were ready for him to send them to the kitchen. Hopefully this is not a trend.

The Host overlooked us for another party and sat them before us even though we had arrived on time for our reservation and ahead of that party. Our Waiter was super abrasive and inattentive. Making matters worst our food took over an hour and our Waiter never took notice until we alerted him. That said the food was okay. The ladies room was disgusting and capped off the horrible service for such an established restaurant.
