Steaks were not as expected.
This was our first visit to Maloney and Porcelli. We enjoyed the food very much. My husband was able to enjoy a glass of wine at a reasonable price for NYC. Dessert was fabulous! And the service was fast enough to get us to our concert on time. Centrally located and walking distance from GCT. We will go back.
The best place to experience Wine Week. As always fantastic with great food!
Tiiti is the best waiter and we request him every time we go to this amazing restaurant! The food is fantastic and the service is amazing!!!! The wine dinner is the best dining experience and worth every penny! Make your reservation from 8:00pm on.
Great service. Food was very well spiced and tasty.
Best steak
Best gray hounds
Great burger
Food was excellent, service was very fast and responsive. Music got better around 11pm, and dessert was amazing. Great atmosphere as well just get ready to spend a very pretty penny lol
HI Jalen, Thank you for your positive response, and I'm happy you enjoyed your Valentine's dinner. We thrive to deliver a quality product in a convivial atmosphere. Hope to see you soon! Gaetano Vaccaro General Manager
Please note: I’ve worked in the food service industry and I have a number of friends who own and operate restaurants. I live in Midtown East and love food. My dad took me to Maloney and Porcelli as a kid and taught me how to order a steak here. It pains me to say this but my experience here as an adult was awful. I went on Valentines Day with my fiancé. We came to try their coveted wine dinner special. I think what’s special about steak houses in New York City is that they’re one of the few places where service is a historical staple. Not the case here. Everything was rushed; meaning from the moment the waiter greeted the table he was gone. I didn’t even get a chance to ask him a question. And when he left, he was gone. We didn’t see him for about 20-30minutes. The food was sub-par. I felt like I could a better steak myself. The crackling pork was decent but far from anything to write home about. We had finished our meal before someone checked in on us. I had my coat on and was standing next to our table for another 25 minutes before I finally asked someone if we could have our check. It was an extremely disappointing experience. I guess I’m more of a Keene’s, Smith & Wollensky’s, or Wolfgang’s type of girl. Either way, I definitely won’t be going back. Do yourself a favor and skip this place.
HI Snax4 life, The news of your last dining experience you had with us; trully upsets me. With that I want to extend my sincerest apologies as that is not what I teach and practice day in and day out with my team. We try hard to deliver the best product, and getting negative feedback like yous can help us see where we fell short on your dinner. I would love if you can give us another chance in the near future and win you back, please contact me directly! Gaetano Vaccaro General Manger
The food was flavorful but, they overcooked my filet. Also, the dessert was not as described & really sweet.
Hi, I'm happy to hear the food was good, but I do apologize for the confusion on the dessert description. We appreciate your patronage, and hope to have you back. Gaetano Vaccaro General Manager
One of the best all around restaurants in the city.
Hey Kenneth, Thank you very much for sharing your great experience you had with us!!! Hope to see you soon, we appreciate your patronage! Gaetano Vaccaro General Manger
Valentines Day
Good lunch place for business. I recommend a booth though if you want to talk.
It was a great deal for restaurant week but the dessert was just ok. Excellent choices of entrees and appetizers though for restaurant week.
Food is above average, friendly service but serve wrong orders twice, delicious lobster ravioli.
This Steakhouse brings it! The location and vibe makes it a destination spot and all business types are present. Not just a corporate place at all. An expensive meal but service and quality is why it is a value.
Great food, great atmosphere, great service but overall way to expensive for what you got.
Two scallops cost $30
I was disappointed. They did not give restaurant week menu. You had to ask. Asked for grated cheese was told it’s already on pasta. $16 for French fries? Really!
Great restaurant week menu.
Steak was dry. Red velvet cake was dry. Scallops were amazing...
Good restaurant week lunch menu.
I’m not sure if I picked the wrong Saturday to come here for date night but the place was packed with all guy parties (Saturday’s are for the boys!). Honestly the meal and service were fine not great but I had to listen to the the table next to us loudly go around and tell each other about their first BJ experiences. Not the best ambiance while trying to enjoy dinner...
Basically, overpriced and not worth it.
Food: for appetizers we had the bacon and the scallops. The bacon was very good. The scallops were overcooked and rubbery. Entrees we had the filet minion and the lobster ravioli. The steak was decent. The lobster ravioli was clearly store bought. At that price, you'd expect fresh pasta. Dessert was okay.
Before we got to order there must have been a shift change because we had to wait at least twenty minutes before we got to order food and the waiter who took our food order was not the same person who took our drink order.
We had two waiter so. One was good the other was not. We were never given a wine list when we asked, then when the bill came $80 worth of drinks were added when we didn't have any. Mistakes do happen. But when we told the waiter who brought our bill of the mistake he didn't take the bill. He said oh and walked away. The other waiter came over and asked if the bill was ready. We explained to him that there was a mistake on the bill and he apologized and took it off. He said the bartender transfered drinks to our bill. It kind of felt like they added it to see if we would catch it. We're native New Yorkers. Not tourist. Food came out really quick as if they had to keep table time under 1 hour when the restaurant had a lot of empty tables. It was an annoying experience. Would not go back no matter how good the food was.
Food very good, lunch NYC Restaurant Week.
Service good but busy.
Food was good, generous portions.
Venue nice, lively.
Would return.
Restaurant week lunch experience was terrible.
The lobster ravioli tasted more like a pork dumpling and the chocolate cake tasted burnt. The appetizers were really good we had the scallops and the bacon.
Went there for lunch during restaurant week. Was given regular menu aad to ask our waiter for restaurant week menu. Steak was superb. Waiter should have told us it did not come with any sides. my medium rare filet was perfect, but one of my guests who ordered medium received a very rare steak. Overall value was very good but service could have been improved.
Great job handling a group of 8
I am a fan.. Steak is good, service is prompt, and the wine list is solid. It is a staple of the NYC steak scene for a reason.
We went for restaurant week. The selections were good as well as the portions.
Could have been off from choosing the restaurant week menu but the food was surprisingly not up to par for the price considering sides were a la carte. Steak was not cooked according to order temp and not good quality cut. Lobster ravioli were good but the ravioli were not al dente.
I went for Restaurant Week, so the value was great! It's awesome when high-end restaurants participate in Restaurant Week because it gives people the chance to try a new restaurant that they normally would not go to, or is normally out of budget.
The appetizers and entrees were phenomenal. I had the best lobster ravioli in a truffle beurre blanc sauce and my friend had a perfectly cooked filet. Portions were big, too - 10oz filet whereas most steakhouses do an 8oz during restaurant week.
The only thing that I did not love was dessert - I had the icebox chocolate cake, so by default I expected it to be cold. It was not - it was lukewarm, dry and tasted a bit burnt. My friend's ice cream looked great though!
Would definitely go back for a celebratory meal. Staff was very nice and gave good recommendations, but restaurant in general is definitely on the expensive side. It also has an heir of old men, old money. (When I arrived, I was one of four women at the bar surrounded by businessmen!) Not too noisy, but not a quiet, romantic location.
Ive been goin to this resturant for years and have always been a fan of their wine dinner. This saturday when we went we found out that not only did the price go up but the menu was changed and some of our favorites have been removed. When we sat the waiter gave us regualr menus and when we said we wanted to do the wine dinner he switched them out for the wine dinner menus. So its a $90 deal and you get qn app, entree and dessert with unlimited wine, which our waiter so rudely stated would only be poured for 2 hours! Umm we were all in our 40s we arent children and are spending good money(bill came to over 500 for 4 people not including tip) so to tell us that was annoying! The food isnt the same as it once was.. my steak was burnt and my husbands sauce on his steak was very spicy. The desserts are differnt as well and we did not enjoy them either.. its sad but it was good while it lasted! After about 10 years of enjoying this restaurant we will no longer be returning.
The food was wonderful as always; however, the increase in prices and the additional increase on some menu items for the wine dinner was somewhat disappointing.
Food, ambiance and service were all exceptional.
Food was decent but didn't come close to justifying the prices. Nondescript restaurant with not much personality.
Don’t go for Restaurant Week. Portions are smaller. Server treated us poorly and seemed upset we wanted the discounted menu. Not sure why they offer the deal if they don’t want you to order it.
We have been to many of the NYC Steakhouses. This is one to avoid. If it wasn't for Restaurant Week, prices are higher than great steakhouses. Service was very inattentive and it was not crowded. Food was average. You can find many other steakhouses that have this one beat in all categories.
Mashed potatoes had the consistency of soup. Very disappointing. But the steaks and the service were excellent
