Mallory's Restaurant & Rooftop Bar
From Burgers and Sandwiches to Surf and Turf, our tempting, tantalizing menu includes grass-fed meat and
locally-sourced Wisconsin favorite entrees, all created by our expert chefs.
A top notch, beautiful craft bar and restaurant that will woo you indoors even on the most beautiful days.
A 1920s Speakeasy in the lower level is available for private parties. Please contact the restaurant for details.
The food wasn’t good. We asked our eggs to be over easy, they were overcooked. Dry. The hash browns were perfect squares. Right out of a box like they had been from the frozen food aisle at cub but it was priced like a good restaurant. Disappointment. We won’t return.
The space was great. We loved the rooftop patio with fire tables, but it was extremely crowded. We also tried to get into the speakeasy in the basement. First you pick up the phone in the hallway and it gives you a recorded password. Then you go downstairs and buzz to get in. No one came to the door after several attempts. That was a disappointment.
The food was very expensive for what you get. My walleye was basically flavored with butter. My husband, who knows steak cuts very well (he grew up in a family butcher shop) ordered a ribeye and told me that it definitely was not cut like a ribeye. The food prices were ridiculously expensive for what you get. Mediocre food. The idea is fun, but the experience didn't turn out for us. Maybe it was just an off night for them.
Our server was attentive, informed and professional. She knew the menu and was able to steer us in the right direction when I asked. The food was excellent. I had a fully loaded Cheesesteak sandwich with clam chowder. Everything was well prepared and delicious. My friend had a sandwich and salad and appreciated the options for sides. We truly enjoyed our time there. A great place to catch up with a friend.
I’m afraid the food just wasn’t the quality we were expecting based on the prices charged.
The 40-day aged New York strip was served in a pool of grease and had a high percentage of gristle. I couldn’t even eat it, it was just a really poor cut of meat.
The walleye was greasy and rather tasteless.
The butternut squash had a very odd presentation. The dish itself is quite small (especially for an entree), and when you order it with chicken, instead of having chicken intermingled with the dish, a dry, sautéed chicken breast is just placed on top.
Mashed potatoes were fine, as were the asparagus and green beans.
We have become Mallory's frequent fliers! The food is amazing! Well thought out apps, and a really nice menu overall. Steak night is our favorite. The dry aged meat is grass fed. It's aged 40 days for amazing texture and flavor. Well worth the price, especially on steak night! It is perfectly prepared, and there are so many side choices! You can't go wrong at Mallory's!
Perfect for Valentine's day. Food was fantastic and the environment was quiet and intimate. Loved every bit of the experience.
Service started fine but went down hill after apos arrived. Server never checked back except to drop off entrees. We ordered two steaks MR and one came out well. After almost 10 min of not seeing the server had to get up and find her to ask for a new steak
No drink refills offered until after we were done eating even though empty glasses on side of table. We would have ordered more during meal. She offered a free dessert because of the steak. Server only had 3 two top tables. No steps of service followed.
We arrived early our table was ready so we were seated. The waitress was attentive and the food was good.
Very nice dinner for Valentines Day. A little pricy, but worth it for a special occasion.
Food was delicious. Nice Valentine’s Day menu.
Service was great although slightly rushed due to the holiday.
Ordered prime rib.
Server asked if he wanted 1/2 inch or inch.
Husband said inch.
Would have been nice if server had mentioned that it would be double the menu price. Or it should be included on the menu pricing. Also menu stated prime rib came with one side.
Got charged for the side. Server seemed too busy for us to hassle getting the check fixed.
Bar downstairs was great! Enjoyed the live music.
The speak easy is adorable!! Loved it. My father turns 90 in the spring would love to bring home to the speak easy.
We checked in an hour early. Told we could not get in until our reservation time. Which we were prepared to go get drinks some where. Sent to the speak easy bar downstairs. Great cocktails. Well designed space!
However, they forgot we were down there. Never came and got us for our reservations. Had to go out the back door ; back in the front door, where the hostess looked confused that we were there for our reservation. Original check in 6:15, reservation time 7:30.
We sat down at 7:40-dinner arrived at 8:40. Apologies were made for the long wait. There are only 20 tables in the restaurant. The wine list is lacking quality wines. And we got a 2oz pour. Felt like we were at a wine tasting event.
Tomahawk pork-chop was delicious. The dried ribeye- lacking seasoning and juice- ordered medium rare. Should be juice. Homemade tater tots- ok.
Would go back for the speak easy alone. Food was good not great.
It was oddly cold in the bar area as we sat at in a booth. Service was great...French Onion Soup was piping hot and nearly perfect. Steak bites were not good. Way over cooked and tasted stale. Manhatten's were good. Overall, an okay experience. Will go back to try prime special again...and hopefully again after that.
We had a good experience but we could only stay till 7:00 pm.
-Seated nearly 30 minutes after reservation time
-No water glasses available for 25-minutes after being seated
-Ran out of baked potato on a very limited menu featuring steak
-Silverware came unwrapped
-Hair in guest mashed potato's
-Wine selection very poor
-Most of staff openly made comments about being behind and would have to wait even though the the facility was clearly not at capacity.
It was so great! Felt like we could go to 3 different venues under the same roof. Food was awesome and service was superb! We had a group of 15 and it was second to none.
We sat up on the roof top bar. What a lot of fun..Thanks for a great night and awesome food..
A holiday get together with good friends!
It was relaxing with good service & a good meal!
Loved the speakeasy downstairs.
We enjoyed our food and the service was very good . We enjoyed Mallory’s underground . We will be back.
Really enjoyed our time! The Rosemary Greyhound cocktail was amazing as well as the lettuce wrap appetizer. Will be back again soon!
Bar was not able to provide proper cocktails had to send back with instructions.
The good items on the internet menu not on menu.
There was no shrimp meal that I enjoyed and the tournedoes of beef my wife enjoyed in the passed.
There was no beranise source available for a Steak.
I have been there twice now and both times have been great!! I love the food and the beauty of the hole place. The date night dinner on sundays and wednesdays is amazing as well. You get a lot of great items for $75.00. I would recommend everyone goes here atleast once!!
Our reservation was at 11:15 am. We got there around 11:00, expecting to wait for a few minutes. We waited for 30 minutes. I heard the server multiple times mention they were slammed and trying to get caught up, which is not something the customer wants to hear. Once we got seated, it took over an hour to get our food. We finally ate at 12:30 pm -- for an 11:15 reservation. Very disappointing experience. There are many dining places in Hudson that have better service, especially for what you're paying at Mallory's. I would not recommend going here.
Enjoyed the evening. Food was good but took awhile to receive however we weren’t in a hurry so didn’t mind.
Worth the short drive from Minneapolis to scenic Hudson. Quaint restaurant with good food and excellent service. Tasty libations, too!
Yes - the rooftop. No the main floor - very noisy & the wine was very small for the price
Got seated in back. There was a kids that were screaming which got really loud until they left. Food was just ok. I was expecting lot better food with more options. There special was 4 scallops. Overall ok. If your looking for a awesome meal this isn’t the place. I’d spend your money at other places like LOLO.
Love the rooftop!
Great space, unfortunately the experience is crippled by a lack of leadership and VERY slow service.
We had a reservation for 8 to celebrate a birthday. We started on the rooftop where it took over an hour to get a round of drinks, appetizers and still no entree orders were taken. To be fair and knowing we are a large table we went to the main restaurant to order our meal. Again, service was lacking. One member of our party had to go up to the bar to bring the drinks back to our table. We had to grab silverware from nearby tables. And we had over 10 minutes delay between serving of the food for half the table.
Still trying to find the positive, our group elected to try out the opening night of their underground speakeasy. The space is beautiful, finally got a timely drink after ordering. Then the next problem developed. Their server went down and they could not give us our check so we could pay our tab. We waited. We waited some more. We asked the waitress again if we could get our check and we waited some more!
The continued delay was only made better by the arrival of the owner/general manager, Jason Johnson. When we expressed our desire to pay our tab and leave the establishment, Mr Johnson assured me he is not an “a$$ kissing bar owner”. I now understand the reason for the lack of timely service and attention to detail. Mr Johnson will be the demise of this restaurant. Which is truly unfortunate. It’s a great facility. If it had a real business leader the place could be a great place to enjoy in downtown Hudson.
Fortunately for Hudson there are many other tremendous restaurants and bars to frequent that one can easily skip past Mallory’s ... unless you like slow service and an owner that will curse at you.
Server was courteous and checked back often which was appreciated. Service after ordering was slow
Really beautiful rooftop setting with views of the river and park. Wonderful service! The food was great, steak tips are very nicely prepared although the horseradish sauce very watery and mild. However at the table next to us a couple ordered the bloody Mary pitcher with food, oh wow did that look amazing! See photo and do it for the experience! We had the fish tacos (very good!) and the French onion soup and French dip combo - delicious! The soup was delicious! Perfect broth.
It was my 1st time to Mallory's. It was an off night for the kitchen to be sure. Thinking they did not stock up on needed menu items. The Cobb salad was brown and lacked color and flavor. Missing many ingredients. The Lobster was large, but too died for my taste as I left with orange fingers! We sat outside and the patio is great. If we were inside the food would hopefully have been hot. The steak was perfect as were the beers. I would go back, but ask more questions on what was available as we overheard they were out of many menu items. It was an incredibly slow evening, so the staff was very attentive and fun, it's not their fault for lack of kitchen fixings
Great food. Nice yet casual.
We loved the rooftop area and had wonderful appetizers there. The drinks were creative and we were served quickly. The food was solidly good, but one veggie burger, ordered as was stated in the menu, came surprisingly with no toppings. When we asked for the menu toppings to be brought out, it took a long time, we asked 2x, and we STILL did not get the toppings as stated in the menu. Dessert was very fresh and flavorful.
Rooftop has a great view of the river & boats. Duck wontons were fabulous as were the fish tacos, crab legs. Huckleberry fin drink is my new favorite!
I would recommend it because the rooftop was a great place to have dinner. However, I feel the menu was pretty limited. Much of the options were higher priced than I would pay sitting in a bistro feeling area.
We have always enjoyed Mallory's, especially the rooftop, which we visited again this past weekend. The rooftop view is great, the setting is fun and service is always very good! However, the food quality is not always consistent. Also, prices have gone up substantially from last summer! It was a reasonably priced place to go, but now its overpriced in our opinion. If the food quality was over the top, it might be understandable, but we probably won't be visiting much in the future. There used to be a lot more options too on the rooftop menu. Why all the changes?
We arrived at 5:00 Thursday evening. The bartender was very helpful in seeing if we could get a rooftop table. Our server did an excellent job. She was friendly and gave us good descriptions about drinks and food. Once we made our order, the wait was reasonable. While there was background music, it was not loud. We could hear each other speak without having to raise our voices.
Steak Night Thursday is a great deal. Perfect cuts, perfectly prepared. Friendly service
Great overall experience. Service was great, food was good, nothing else we could of asked for!
Food was good, service was horrible. Took over 20 minutes for a beer and a mixed drink. Appetizer came to the table before the drinks. Waitress seemed disinterested in doing her job.
Food was good with the exception of not bringing a knife for my steak (service issue) room echoes so it was very load to here people at your table.
Don’t think they could get me to come back or recommend this restaurant.
