Mallorca Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We made reservations to celebrate my aunt's birthday. We scheduled an early lunch because some guests had plans for later in the afternoon. Food and service were excellent and all enjoyed their meals. Cocktails were great. After eating they brought a cake to celebrate aunt's birthday - a pleasant surprise. Have had many fine meals here and recommend to everyone. A great afternoon.
Great food and a lot of it. The list of specials was impressive although I couldn't remember half of it by the time the server was done. The goat was excellent and so was the paella. The chorizo delicious.we barely made a dent to our food and had no room for dessert.Did not like our seating and felt very cramped on the side table. But I Would definitely come again to try out some more food!!
We went to Mallorca for our anniversary. When we walked in, right on time for our reservation, the front room was very chaotic. The hostess seemed very overwhelmed and was not able to seat us at the time of our reservation. The presentation of the food was very lacking and unprofessional. Our waiter was inattentive and seemed to hand us off to some kind of assistant for the night. We very much enjoyed the atmosphere and ambiance of the dining room. The food was decent and plentiful.
Food was good. Service was slow. Very very loud !! Tables are right on top of one another. Couldn't even here my boyfriend talk. We were celebrating our first year of dating. Asked for a out of the way table when I made my reservations but was put right in the middle of the room next to large parties. Very disappointing evening 😞
This is an excellent pioneering restaurant. The food is excellent, the staff, choices and the added touch on this Valentines Day date. The only drawback was poor table location. I will go again while being careful in choosing table location. Best of luck to the new owner ,Alex, who was most gracious when we talked with him before leaving. This is a great and original Pittsburgh meets Portugal and Spain culinary experience. A tribute to the ingenuity of our city and her culture.
We went to Mallorca for a late, leisurely birthday lunch. It was perfect, as always. We were seated at our requested table and began with a pitcher of their excellent red sangria, followed by the octopus appetizer. My entree was Shrimp in White Wine Sauce, while my husband had Paella - both were wonderful, including the salad, papas fritas, rice, and vegetables. We completed our meals with Mallorca coffee and complimentary glasses of almond liquor. Perfection!
When we were seated, we asked for slowly paced service, so as to enjoy our experience, and were not disappointed. The waiters are elegant and obviously highly trained. Mallorca is not your typical restaurant, and we love it.
We went to Mallorca for lunch on our anniversary and had a wonderful meal. My husband ordered the goat special and it was incredibly tender. Just melted in your mouth! I had the chicken breast stuffed with raisins, pine nuts and spinach. It was covered with a delicious sauce. The meals come with fresh veggies (cooked al dente), saffron rice, Spanish potatoes (like potato chips but no salt), bread and a salad. We went home with leftovers for tonight's dinner. If you like garlic, be sure to get the garlic soup - fantastic! The whole meal, with coffee, came to around $50. The dinner menu is more expensive. We will certainly go back!
My husband and I have been frequent diners at Mallorca for years....and they never disappoint. The food is good but the service here is outstanding. From the entertaining recitation of the specials to complimentary almond liqueur.,the staff is attentive but does not hover. I had the grilled Bronzino (a special) . It was served whole and our waiter expertly filleted it at the table. Go...you will get a kick out of this place.
The service was excellent, but the food was subpar. The wine list was very nice, and the recommended wine was delicious. Unfortunately, the Chilean Sea Bass and the Wild Boar tasted like cafeteria food, over cooked and not seasoned well. The sides were very bland, nothing special. We got the meat and cheese appetizer, and the meats were not good. We were bummed since we spent $180 for the two of us on what we wanted to be a special date night. While the ambiance of Mallorca was nice, the food was just not good. :( If you want amazing Spanish food, go to Morcilla! (No comparison!)
Very authentic food and ambiance. Attentive, caring and knowledgeable service, which was also very accommodating. If you like dining in European restaurants that are elegant but cozy, crowded but efficient, you'll love Mallorca - and just like in Europe the focus is on the food AND the service. We loved every dish we tried from Camarones Ajillo to Javelina (Boar). As with any small place of such quintessential character one can expect on a busy Saturday night that some things may not be available -- no matter, the substitutions were superb!
My friend and I went to Mallorca for restaurant week, and we had an excellent time! I'm a vegetarian, and although I think their roasted sweet peppers could use a little more pizzaz, their veggie quinoa paella was stellar. My friend said that both her shrimp and petit filet mignon were excellently prepared.
The food at Mallorca is always wonderful but it one of my favorite spots because the staff also make it fun. The waiters and staff bring their personal joy to serving our meal. It is a happy place to dine.
Mallorca's list of specials is always long and impressive, from wild boar to roast duck. The family style rice, vegetables and chips are a great addition, and constantly re-filled by Henry. We went for a birthday dinner and you have never heard "Happy Birthday" sung with such enthusiasm while also encouraging the entire restaurant to join in.
We have dined there many times and it is a go-to spot for out of town guests.
We really talked the place up to our out of town guests but we were just so disappointed that it did not live up to our expectations. The host told us about the soup of the day and it sounded amazing. The server brought us the totally wrong soup. Then when it was time for our entrees, everyone else got theirs and I sat without mine for at least ten mins. No one came to check on me and ask why I didn't have my food. So the others at my table waited and waited so as to not be rude, and finally theirs was getting cold so I asked them to begin without me. Mine finally came and it was barely warm, like it may have sat unnoticed in the kitchen. We were just all so disappointed, and for the price we paid, I was very upset. Sorry to say, I don't think I will be coming back...and it is one of our favorite restaurants.
This was our choice for our Pittsburgh Restaurant week meal, so we chose to go for a late lunch, and we were not disappointed. The value was amazing. For $25 we had a salad, appetizer, entree and dessert, ordering off the prix fixe menu. The wine list is impressive and has a wide variety of prices. They had not even advertised the salad, so that was a nice surprise, and it was fresh, colorful, and had a mildly spicy french-style dressing. The appetizers were generous portions. I had the portobello mushroom with fresh mozzarella, which was just a bit over the top with the balsamic vinegar. Others at the table had a spicy shrimp appetizer, which was flavorful and nicely presented as well. My shrimp entree seemed a bit like an echo of the appetizer, but the portion was good, and the spices well adjusted. Others had the chicken with chorizo, and a steak, and all were satisfied. Our only disappointment was the creme brûlée was still being made, so we had to choose something else for dessert, but the savvy owner allowed us to choose anything off the dessert tray and further added delight by pouring us each a glass of amaretto liqueur. All in all a very satisfying experience.
We went for lunch during Restaurant week..it was offered for 26$ included an appetizer a salad your main course which had sides of a vegetable, rice and homemade potato chips, there's also a dessert included in that price. We had a glass of wine with our meal and the owner treated us to an almond shot, which was sweet.. Henry our waiter was on point.. ask for him. Our final bill for lunch was 80$ with left overs. Most people I tell about this place things it's a fish place but we had filet and chicken.. so so good.
We visited during restaurant week. The food was very good, the selections wide ranging. Portions were generous. There were many servers who seemed to be tripping over each other. One did not know what the last one had offered or delivered...some things we asked for never did come!
We ordered a pitcher of Sangria, which we totally enjoyed. The after dinner coffees were not enjoyable (coffee very strong, WAY TOO MUCH WHIPPED CREAM!!). The price was ridiculously high for the bad coffee.
Overall we did enjoy the evening.
Dellcious authentic Spanish food and drink with a creative and fresh menu. Had the wild boar with Lima beans, prepared to perfection. Was restaurant week so maybe wait staff was increased, but they were a bit overly attentive at times with about four staff regularly stopping by the table. Better than a lack of service though! Overall five stars.
