Mallorca Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Fantastic food, with a HUGE list of daily specials! The service is professional and attentive, we never had to ask for anything. They even served us a bit of almond liquor when they brought the check. The only downsides were that is very tight quarters in the main dining area, and the timing of our food was way off. We had only had 2 or 3 minutes with our appetizers before the entrees came out, then we waited another 10 minutes for the sides that came with the entrees. All of the food was fantastic though!
It was my first time going to your restaurant & I was very pleased. The other couple had been before & as it was my choice (my birthday celebration) I selected your restaurant as I had only heard good things about it. In particular we appreciated the excellent customer service. Everyone we had any contact with was delightful. You made my day a very special one & I look forward to coming back!
Mallorca in one word is outdated. Service was slow and sporadic we never were asked once how our food was by anyone. Which was overcooked, bland and old just like the interior and atmosphere of this restaurant has gotten. The octopus appetizer was way overcooked and we could not finish it, was taken away and not asked about when we got our paella which was bland, bit overcooked, seafood did not taste fresh but was ok. This is bad seafood in the way that pittsburgh seafood used to be back in the day. I was very disappointed as it was our anniversary and we went there as I remembered how good the food used to be here. Having had an incredible seafood dinner at or the whale the previous evening didnt help either. I will never go back here or recommend it to anyone.
Used to be one of my favs, in serious need of some updates to atmosphere. Salad was drowned in dressing, could not eat. The rest of the meal was outstanding. I had the Chilean Seabass, pretty pricey. Good wines by the glass. Server was decent, the gentleman who told us our specials was not quite right, think he may have been on something? He kept leaning on the wall and table and swaying as he was talking. I do like the food so I will be back, maybe not so late in the evening.
The food was good but the servers seemed confused. We got our salads timely, but then we had two more servers ask whether we got our salads. My first drink order was incorrect. We probably had four to six servers and I doubt they all knew what we had ordered. They tried, but came off very confused.
Visited for our anniversary. Had been several years since we've been. Enjoyed ourselves very much. Consistent with past visits. Food was outstanding as always. Portions are very large and we had leftovers to take home. Very attentive service, but almost too efficient sometimes, almost making us feel rushed when I don't think it was their intention.
I ate at Mallorca about 10 years ago and was blown away at how good it was. It seems to be a shell of its former self. I will start with the positive. Parking is plentiful and free. The food completely lacked flavor. The paella was not very good and didn't seem to have any seasoning. My wife ordered the prime rib, medium. It came out raw...not rare...stone cold in the center. Not entirely sure how you do this with prime rib. They took it back and cooked it more bit it was still under rare. By this time, the rest of us were done eating so they offered scallops. They came out raw and cold in the middle. Wait staff was very apologetic, but my wife left a $40/person meal hungry because they couldn't seem to cook anything. Probably the worst restaurant experience I have had in 15 years
This was, by far, the worst restaurant experience we've ever had. Inexperienced waiter, poor service, both late and cold food, inaccurate check and after arriving home, we feel we were still overcharged. They were hosting a large party in a separate room and totally ignored the patrons in the main room. Years ago, enjoyed this restaurant but now would recommend patrons choose another place to dine. Very poorly run and the food quality was poor. Never going back, that's for sure!
We have been going to Mallorca once or twice per year for 5 years on visits from from Florida. The food quality and service was always great but this year was a definite downslide. Not sure we will return again.
I was recommending it to friends in the past years and not getting much feedback, now I think I know why.
Service was marginal, of course when present they were personable, but then not attentive.
Very 😔 disappointed..
I ordered the stuffed salmon with lobster tail. Salmon came out without stuffing. Server asked if he could bring the stuffing on the side. I said sure... when the it finally came, it was ice cold in the middle so I sent it back and told the server I didn’t want it back. My lobster tail was over cooked and hard. I was hoping it would melt in my mouth, but that was not the case.... and it cost $20 !!!! I would only come here for the garlic shrimp which was amazing.
Absolutely one of my favorite restaurants anywhere! Always a wonderful experience on every level of expectation. I have never been disappointed with any aspect of that which Mallorca delivers and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys the total package in their dining experience.
Mallorca never fails to impress. It is decades older than restaurants currently making Pittsburgh a notable foodie town. It's decor is dated but is a reminder that it has been around, and it doesn't take away from a great dining experience.
It still has great food, great options, an extensive and affordable wine list, and best of all, large portions for a good price. So many newer restaurants overcharge for what some would consider only slightly larger than appetizer portions. The menu is extensive, and the night we dined there, there were at least 8 to 10 specials that the waiter knew without referring to a list. He was impressive. Mallorca is still one of the best in Pittsburgh.
I was disappointed. At first we were seated right near the kitchen, which I was prepared to put up the with, but then there was an air duct directly below my seat. It was blowing out cold air, and was quite forceful so I asked if we could move. They took us to a brighter section of the restaurant and while it was pretty, it was just too bright. We were unfortunately seated next to a large party that was very, very loud. The room was mostly tiled so the sound just reverberated. My husband loved his osso buco but my salmon was dry. We only saw our waiter once, the manager finally came and took our orders and served us all evening. It ended up being about $250 for four of us, and for that amount, I expected more.
