We were a party of 4 and we all ordered some type of fish or shellfish. We all felt that the fish was not as fresh as it used to be and the swordfish special was dry.
We enjoyed our waiter and Henry very much!
Food and service were great as usual. Only complaint temperature in dining room is too warm to be comfortable
We had a delightful early Father’s Day Dinner and the setting, food, and service were spectacular. All of the meals were superb and the entire waitstaff was great.

Had dinner last night for the first time at Mallorca. As a vegetarian, I wasn’t super psyched to go but my boyfriend is NUTS about seafood.
I hate writing reviews, but I can honestly say we had a wonderful time other than the wait. It took an hour after appetizers for our dinner- something must have been going on in the kitchen, but the bourbon flowed freely so- we stuck it out and had a nice evening. My boyfriend said the tuna tartar was the best he has ever had and the portion was gigantic!
We will go back!!
Been there many times in the past , this time food was not good. Had the stuffed lobster before but this had something different in it. Not good at all. Cake was dry and tastes like store bought.
since the change in management, the restaurant sadly has declined. the food was average and the service was very poor. Maybe they just need some time to get things back in line and operating efficiently.
Until then there are plenty of other choices in the area...previously with the old group running it, this was my favorite non-chain restaurant in pittsburgh.
Food was good ,vine was good, bread was not warm and desserts were not impressive They were them not fresh they have them frozen and plate with desserts look shaby
Knowing Spanish helps in a restaurant setting like this. Because that is pretty much the first language.
Their portions are very generous and the food is always fresh and very tasty.
Complacent. No longer trying to be the best apparently. Going thru the motions of service. Good food..of course, but that's usual in a pricey restaurant. If you want to be hurried and feel as if you are in Denny's, this is your place. Anniversary dinner. Not a mention from staff. Special night? Look elsewhere to celebrate. Won't be back.
One of my sons favorite places to eat! Since new ownership, not to same level as prior owners. But, still a good place.
Mallorca is one of my top 3 favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh. I've never had a bad experience here. The staff and food are outstanding.
A chef called off which caused a delay in getting food. We were provided a complimentary appetizer for the delay which was nice. We were late being seated for our reservation. The table cloth was dirty and needed changed. The meal from beginning to end took over two hours which is not typical. The lobster was over cooked and osso bucca was stringy. We have eaten here many times and enjoyed it. This time was not up to par. The staff all seemed to be struggling.
The food was delicious, and they have an excellent menu. If we are talking straight food, this is an incredible spot. However, my mother and I went on Valentine's day for dinner. Our reservation was at 10pm, and we got there at 9:50, to be seated at 10:17pm. The place was extremely packed, and the seating was super crammed. I understand that this was a busy night, but the layout of the place was too tight. I couldn't even fit my legs under the table from how little space there was between the chair and table. My chair was STUCK to the chair behind me. The food is absolutely worth it though. I imagine that on a regular night, nothing in this place would disappoint. The Paella Negre was insane.
Service was outstanding and the food was delicious. Wait staff is the best in the city
My husband and I spent Valentine's Day at Mallorca for dinner. We were shown a circular table with a white table cloth perfectly set for two with water, plates, and cutlery upon arrival. The servers acted calm, precise, and entertained as they fussed over the patrons, walking quickly through the narrow aisles of the long, but not wide, restaurant while filling up waters, taking orders, and removing dishes.
To start, we ordered and enjoyed the the calamari which were accompanied by a red sweet sauce of unknown name. My husband authentically chose the paella with lobster as a main entree, and I looking for adventure and something out of the ordinary, chose the african wild bore. I would additionally point out to those who fancy themselves critics, this was out of character, i.e., my mother.
My husband's paella came in a large pot of orange rice and mixed vegetables (carrots/peas). It included more calamari, lobster, and I still think something else, but can't remember. My bore came thick, heavy, and fatty on a medium size white plate. The food included large portions, was well heated, and arrived in a timely fashion somewhere between my first glass of Ramon Cardova and my second. We enjoyed both plates, although the bore was very heavy and I looked over at my husband's lobster paella longingly a number of times if not to simply marvel at the size of the dish.
The meal which had started slowly (one course built upon the next), then began to meet an unanticipated crescendo. The dishes from our dinners were removed and the remainder was wrapped up. (They would become our dinner for the next two days.) The maitre d' quickly handed us both an almond shot, me a fresh red rose, and set a dish of creme brulee between the two of us. The creme brulee was warm on the top and cold on the bottom with surprise hints of key lime.
From the key lime, the african bore, and the spanish atmosphere we both felt nostalgic for a Hemingway novel. It was very nice.
Excellent Valentine's Day dinner. Even on one of the busiest days of the year everything is on point and fantastic.
We were seated promptly and we're immediately treated like welcome guests. The specials were explained and all sounded amazing. 2 of us had the sea bass, a generous portion cooked to perfection in an amazing wine/buttery sauce. Our glasses were never left empty and every request was quickly filled. We cannot wait to go back to this great dining experience
GREAT service and the food reccomendations did not dissapoint. Will be back to taste additional options
My husband and I had a date night and I loved the old school vibe and more formal service we received!
We love the food and the service. As always, everything about Mallorca is first rate. The service is great and even the alcoholic drink options are a cut above. The only negative is that the restaurant is a little bit noisier than I would like - but it is not a major problem. In the past they had valet parking, which I liked, but there is plenty of parking available in their lot across the street. Never the less, I did prefer having the valet parking available.
Had forgotten about this place. Went to celebrate our 30th valentine day together. Was perfect. Excellent service, amazing food, even better drinks. Will be back.
I had not been there for several year and I am not sure why. The food and service was second to none! I highly recommend.
We have dined many times at Mallorca with business associates, friends, and family, and we are never disappointed in the food, service, or ambiance. The staff for this latest dinner were very attentive, polite, and everyone person who attended to us had an open and entertaining personality that added to our enjoyment. We heartily recommend Mallorca to everyone.
Old school favorite!
I've never had a bag meal, and the Spanish coffee is the perfect way to end the night!
If you tired of subpar food, the same old selections and bad service you need to experience this place. Great evening all around
Dinner was amazing.. from the drink selection to the assorted appetizers to the main courses everyone in our party loved their food. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a dinner experience.
The service was good and so was the sangria. The food was dry and overcooked, was disappointed it looked like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. Dessert was good but the tables were really close together and it was very loud.
We went for restaurant week, we were there for approximately 3 hours so I’d say the service was rather slow. Calamari appetizer was very good. Paella could have been better. It should have a crispy bottom layer of rice and it was actually wet underneath. I would maybe try this restaurant again not during restaurant week.
The food was Great! The portions were huge. My waiter was very knowledgeable. There were tons of waiters and staff assisting. Thumbs up on the Mushrooms, the stuffed peppers and the Palellia ( I miss spelled but excellent and a lot of food). Will go again!
We went for Pittsburgh restaurant week. The service, food, and atmosphere was excellent. Definitely will be going back. A little pricy but worth it. I will say I did feel a little cramped but that is minor as it’s an old building and making the most out of what they have.
As always..friendly,happy place with excellent food.
horrible service. waited 20 minutes just to put in a drink order, appetizer never came, food was awful then waited an hour for our check
Enjoyed our meal. Service was excellent, food was delicious.
What a disappointment. After years of great food, it's been getting sadder and sadder over the past 18 months or so. Service was impeccable - as always - but the food was bland, overcooked and overpriced for how terribly prepared it was.
Just over all very disappointing. Food no flavor - crowded - and pricey for what was served.
We went for lunch during Restaurant Week and the service was prompt and friendly. The food was well prepared and a great value. We will definitely go back.
Went during Pittsburgh Restaurant Week and had a wonderful experience!
Went to 3 different restaurants during Restaurant week and Mallorca was the best. Wonderful food and experience.
