Food was good but took too long to be served. Waiter did pick up our deserts cause of the slow service.
We went for restaurant week. Each person had a different meal and EVERYTHING was great.
My husband and I love eating at Mallorca. They always have an extensive and interesting menu. I enjoy the bowls of fresh vegetables, potato chips and rice that accompany the entrees. The menu for restaurant week wasn't as interesting as in the past so I ordered the rack of lamb cooked medium off the regular menu. It came well done. The servers disappeared the entire time we were eating. I say servers because there are multiple servers that take care of the tables. That's what makes Mallorca so much fun. You are fussed over by so many. Unfortunately, this time, we were seated near some provocatively dressed young women who received all of the attention. I felt a little slighted. My husband and I have dined at Mallorca many times over a twenty year period and never experienced anything like that. Hopefully we won't again.
The menu was interesting, eclectic. Delicious stuffed peppers! Enjoyed the skirt steak. Great drinks!
Wonderful Place! Food was phenomenal and the service was exceptional!
Love this place! Always a great meal along with impeccable service!
Great experience and terrific service. We went for lunch and it was not crowded. Food was delicious and quick. The service was excellent.
Still holds up after 20+ years. Great authentic Spanish/Portuguese cuisine, service, portion sizes for 3 meals! A quality food experience for reasonable pricing.
We had an amazing time sitting at the bar listening to the bartender’s expertise on different wines and beers from Spain and Portugal. When we took our seats the service was impeccable and the food was even better! Wonderful experience!
Had a great wine list with plenty of different and unique choices. Very good choices and great food for Pittsburgh Restaurant Week. Very authentic food on the main menu and the service was great and very attentive.
Great value since we got so much food (like 4 meals as leftovers) but that was a sad excuse for Spainish food. My “paella” was quinoa and my husband’s was dry. The Spanish potatoes were soggy.. won’t be going back
Called because we were running late due to the snow & they said no problem. We were only 15 minutes late but could see the place wasn’t crowded. After we were seated the waitress bought the menus & explained all the specials & asked what we wanted to drink? Brought the drinks then we sat for 20 minutes waiting for her to return to place our order! The Host came over & said our waiter got tied up! 20 minutes! Food came & mine & my wife’s were correct. My daughter asked for light sauce & her meal came with an over abundance of sauce. We waited for someone to ask how our meals were? After 15 minutes nobody came & we even asked the waiter for the other tables to send ours over. Never came! We were out of water & drinks a long time ago & my daughter ended up eating 1/2 her meal even though she didn’t want it that way. The host didn’t come over until our meals were finished & asked how the meals were? My wife asked for more water since we didn’t have any since our salads. At that point it wasn’t worth it to say about my daughter’s meal. We asked to have the side dishes & my daughters meal boxed & asked for the check. We’ve had lots of friends tell us how great this restaurant was. I’ll say the food was very good but the service was poor. The tables next to us had way better service. It was our 1st time here & don’t see us returning due to the service. Nobody there cared.
Wonderful service. Couldn’t have been nicer and more accommodating. The signature garlic sauce wasn’t my favorite, but it’s impossible to like everything. All food was great!
We visited during Restaurant Week and found the restaurant provided a great variety of choices for the fixed price restaurant week menu. The entrees were very good. The portions did not vary in the least from what is offered in the regular menu. My date often orders paella on the regular menu and it was equally goon on the special menu. However, I do think it’s time for the restaurant to change up its traditional sides offered for every meal- the “baked potato chips”, steamed veggies, rice, and a salad drenched in French dressing. It’s getting old!
Its a nice place, good spanish/ portuguese food. I have a portuguese family, so my standards are high. Worth a try though for authenticity.
We've gone for special occasions (Birthdays,Valentine's, Anniversaries) for over 10 years now and it never disappoints. The service is always phenomenal and the food is great! We can never pass up on the garlic shrimp appetizer. We love seeing familiar faces in almost all the wait staff, who have been there longer than we have been going. I can't say enough about it. We have been able to take friends and family on a few occasions and it has always been a hit. Thanks for the memories. We look forward to many more!
We went for restaurant week and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Our daughter and son in law had their rehearsal dinner there. It was such an amazing experience that, when I saw them on restaurant week, we had to go back. The service was top notch, there was always someone checking on us and keeping us happy. The food did not disappoint. There were 3 in our party, for appetizers we had the fried calamari, garlic shrimp and the Christorras. All were excellent and very flavorful. The garlic shrimp could easily have been considered an entree. For our entrees we had the Seafood Paella and the steak. The steak was delicious and so tender. We took half of it home and had it cold in a steak salad. The steak came with garlic mashed potatoes which were also good. The Seafood Paella was full of seafood (shrimp, scallops, lobster tail, oysters and clams), chicken and sausage. It had a wonderful flavor. We also had enough of this to take home for another meal. We also enjoyed the table sides of Spanish rice, mixed vegetables and chips. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and a nice mix. We would highly recommend Mallorca and look forward to the next time we go. I would also highly recommend them for any banquet needs.
Been a few years since we’ve eaten here. Service was ok not up to the standards it used to be. The food definitely was below the level of a few years ago. Has Mallorca lost its luster. I hope not. Just guessing just an off night. Loved this place for the last 23 years.
I had to switch my reservation last minute for my girlfriend's birthday, and they were SO accommodating! They let me switch the times and were very kind and professional in their service! They sang happy birthday to my girlfriend and came out with cake for her. The food was amazing!!! And although, depending on what you order it can be pricey, the food is DELECTABLE and they box your food up for you when you'll need to take the rest home (Spoilers... you will)
I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant for couples, families or friends willing to try something new!!
Loved the experience. The owners were present on site and participated in the service. The menu is authentic and food was fantastic. Garlic shrimp, Porteguese potato and sausage soup, paella and a good Spanish wine...wonderful dinner.
The experience was the worse I have ever had.Four of us were at the restaurant, the dinners were brought out to our husbands, and myself and friend who had ordered trout stuffed with crab and shrimp were told that our dinner had to be recooked because something was wrong with the fish.so we said ok,and sat and waited for 20min, by which time the Vegtables that had been brought out were now cold,so we asked for them to be taken back to be kept warm, which they did,and finally after about 25 min our meal arrived. You could instantly smell the fish was off, however we were both stupid eanough to try it, and the taste was nothing but putrid. It took onther 15 min before we could get a waiter to come to our table, and find our waiter to come and take the food away.He was very apologetic and said he would make us something else ,we declined. It was quite obvious to us,they had used the same batch of fish that they had for the first lot which was off.If we could smell gone off fish, the kitchen and the waiter could smell it also, but brought it to the table anyway.
Surrfice to say both my friend and I had upset stomachs the next day and spent most of the day in the toilet. Was this just a coincidence who knows.
We will never go back to this place again, and will make sure we tell all our friends to stay away.
We went to Mallorca for my birthday dinner and it was fabulous. The food was unique and delicious and the staff was entertaining and attentive.
Phenomenal service from waiters that clearly love what they do. Mallorca made everyone feel like family. The environment was fun and lively, and we felt entertained the whole night. Great value too, as all the entrees come with extra side dishes to share with the table- tapas style. Can't wait to go back!
Lots of menu options. All 4 of us were happy with the selections. I must eat gluten free, and being able to have the rice served with the dinners was a treat. Only strange thing was that mashed potatoes are listed as an optional side choice, but they were served with 2 of the entrees. Glad we had not ordered them. The food was excellent.
Sadly, I am not writing a good review. I used to love this restaurant. Granted, we went on New Year's Eve but still you expect a good experience. We waited 40 minutes past our reservation time for a table. Then waited another 15 minutes before they even brought us water. And then another 10 minutes before they took our order. Had it not been a special occasion, we would have just left. We had a meat and cheese platter as an appetizer which was very good. We then waited forever for our entrees. Both tables next to us who ordered after us, got their food before we did. And then our entrees were terrible. I would have sent them back but we were getting close to midnight and wanted to just get out of there to meet friends. I had maybe 5 bites of my dinner and then didn't even bother to take it home with me because I knew I wouldn't eat it. It just wasn't good and my boyfriend said mine tasted better than his.
As always Mallorca was amazing. The food, the service, everything is always top notch. I have never had a bad meal there & the staff is always quick to accomodate any request. Only complaint this time is that the staff did not have our updated reservation, although they did call & confirm us for 8, they had me listed as 6 when we got there. I understand it was a very busy night (New Years Eve). We didn't wait long for them to seat us, so really no harm done.
Mallorca is our go-to restaurant for special occasions. We've celebrated two anniversaries and three New Year's Eve dinners here. The food is always spectacular and the service is attentive yet non-intrusive. Because of the close quarters (especially on busy evenings), it can be quite noisy, but we tend to go there for celebratory occasions so the bustling atmosphere is fine by us.
Been going to Mallorca for over 25 years. My favorite restaurant for unique foods, friendly, attentive service, wonderful management people. Antonio is a very pleasant and accommodating owner. Augustine is our favorite waiter : has been working there for over 17 years. ALWAYS enjoy a visit there !!!
The moment I stepped in the door, I was transported back to Spain. The hospitality is unmatched and the food brought back my warmest memories of southern España. Our reservation was late, and I didn’t realize it was not long before the kitchen closed. Not only were the dishes we ordered amazing (We had jamón and portobellos for apps, I had one dish from the menu my partner had the boar special for entree’s). My steak was so beautifully cooked and filled with flavor! Our waiter brought out this delicious rice that was so smoky and was complemented graciously with sweet, red peppers. I cannot stress how hospitable and welcoming the staff was. As it was late, the atmosphere was quiet, but not lacking in warmth and cheer.
We can’t thank them enough for a such a lovely experience, and can’t wait to integrate them into a regular spot!
I have been going to Mallorca for 25+ years now, it has NEVER let me down!
Antonio and his staff are always warm, professional, accommodating and the food is always OUTSTANDING! I cannot recommend any place above Mallorca.
Great place, great food! I recommend the Caldo Verde soup! Delicious
Rude owner who yelled at Server right when we got in. Food was mediocre. Very noisy atmosphere. Tight space servers kept hitting our chairs.
I've been dining at Mallorca for years. Every time has exceeded my expectations. Do not let the building's exterior appearance of the Carson street bar scene deter you from trying this city gem. Amazing food, a personal waitstaff that checks on you literally every few minutes to make sure everything is perfect, a great atmosphere, and awesome drinks. I am always amazed that the black tie waitstaff seems to know everything about each item on the regular menu, and yet they memorize what seems to be a separate menu of at least 10 chef specials daily. They will adjust your meal to your preference (Spicy, Gluten sensitive, etc...). One of the best steakhouses in the city of Pittsburgh, and hands down the best lobster I ever had. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try if you've never been. You won't be disappointed!
Amazing food, Amazing staff, Amazing environment.
Celebrated the holiday with colleagues and it was really awesome. The menu options are very broad and will please everyone including special dietary requirements. The lunch entrees are individually served, but potatoes, rice and a beautiful plate of vegetables are served family style to the table, which has a white table cloth, very elegant. The service was impeccable. Cannot praise this restaurant and its staff enough.
Food delicious and our server professional and courteous. Paella remains my personal favorite, but the grouper over pasta was excellent. Thank you for the free parking and a special dining experience.
I studied abroad in Spain back in the day, and this is the best Spanish/Iberian food I've found in the U.S. since. That's not surprising since the chef is from Spain. The portions are huge and the prices reasonable. The service was outstanding, and the staff is friendly. They really seem to care and made several personalized gestures to show that. This a great place to eat!
My girlfriend is from Spain. This is the closest to home cooked meals as she can get. Unfortunately I am allergic to shellfish, but I can say without a doubt, the paella de carne (chicken, chorizo, and lamb) was amazing. This is packed with so much flavor; I just wanted more.
The food was really disappointing. I love Spanish food, but this was really subpar and quite overpriced for the quality of seafood. Service was okay but awkward and not especially attentive. Would not recommend.
