i’ve been here 4-5 times over the years and it always surprises me with new specials and an extensive but exciting menu. again, i had goat - was a special. tender and fantastic as usual.
i’ll be back!
I haven’t eaten here in 4 years so when I had friends who love seafood come into town, I thought it would be a great place to take them. Well let’s just say I was embarrassed. The Server was rushed, so much so my friend said she wanted to take a Xanax for him. He receited the specials so fast and with his accent it was hard to understand any of them. It took over 20 minutes to get a drink and about 2 hours to get our entrees. I doubt if I will ever return.
Excellent food, service and ambience. The sea bass was the best fish I have had in the Pittsburgh area.
Beautiful room with an excellent wait staff! My wife & I were visiting from out of state and wanted a nice lunch (w/paella). However, ordering from the lunch menu, we had 2 entrees, no drinks (water only) & 2 desserts w/coffee--with tax & tip lunch was $75. Food was good, but not THAT good.
The food is authentic and as good as I’ve had in the US
We sat outside and it was pretty loud I guess that’s to be expected considering the location. The service was subpar long wait for drinks, rude server. I ordered a filet medium and it was way over cooked and the mashed potatoes tasted instant. My husband had the goat, ox tails and a seafood dish that he enjoyed. I personally will not go back I was so excited to try this place and it was a let down.
Always good food and generous portions. We are always too full from our entree to eat the rice and vegetables they bring to the table.
My husband and I have been going to Mallorca for over 15yrs. It’s a restaurant we had one of our first dates and just fell in love with the place. From the moment you arrive you’ll feel welcome by the incredible wait staff and beautiful decor. The food is incomparable to anything you will have in Pgh restaurants. My husband and i most recently celebrated my 39th birthday, and my having celiac disease is always a concern. The wait staff once again went out of their way to accommodate and I had one of the best meals. They even made me a special gluten free/dairy free dessert. Love Mallorca! a restaurant that feeds the soul.
Still one of Pittsburgh’s best restaurants. It has everything. Great food. Outstanding service.
Brought my sister here to celebrate her birthday. Everything was fantastic. Food and service we're excellent. Will return for sure. Highly recommended!
Very wonderful experience with exceptional food. Each dish presented with culinary skilll. Family style sides could be served hotter. Too many servers per table, but better that than not enough service given. Seafood is best in the city! Treat yourself!
Saying goodbye to a friend is never easy but having a tasty meal as a touchstone is always a nice way to do so. The wait staff were very patient as we tried to make up our minds on which of the delicious meals to choose. The food arrived steaming hot and delicious. As always when we eat there, part of it came home with us and was eaten with a great deal of joy the next day. The portions are very generous and the presentation was very smart. I make it a point to bring visiting dignitaries form out of town her whether it is for a nice lunch or a sumptuous dinner. Many of these guests are well travelled and all walk away satisfied that they found not on ly the best place on the South Side of Pittsburgh but a restaurant that could rival any in the many cities around the world they have visited. Thanks for always giving us a great memory.
Overall service was exceptional. Food other than the cold homemade soda bread and wilted salad with no choice of dressing-came with French dressing and overly wripened tomatoes was excellent and extremely filling with the family style sides. Decor inside very dated but clean. Our table unfortunately was next to the floor air conditioning cooling vents and extremely cold. The restaurant could definitely benefit with an updated decor and serve hot buns and either skip the salad or make sure it is fresh or replace with a relish tray etc. overall a great dinner for price and quantity of food.
I took my girlfriend for our anniversary and it was fantastic
Hand an amazing birthday dinner! I had never had Spanish cuisine before and the waiter was attentive and explained things wonderfully. Amazing sangria amazing food and they gave me a shot+ piece of cake for my birthday. One of the best birthdays I’ve had in awhile!
The restaurant is beautifully appointed with hints of Spanish decor. The wait staff is attentive and thorough. The menu is large and varied. The waiter will then add about 10 house specials of the day from duck to wild boar to other exotic main dishes. We went in the early evening on a Saturday in late summer. Although the food, by and large, was exquisitely prepared and extremely tasty, the management would be well-serve (pardon the pun) to remove four tables from the dining room we were in as it was way too congested, with people bumping into one another with their chairs, and waiters attempting to negotiate the serpentine narrow paths between tables. Moreover, it was clear that they were either short of help or not on their game because we had to wait long intervals between finding anyone who would bus or wait on us, plus one dish came out a full 10 minutes after the rest of our plates - for which they graciously comped us a dessert and coffee.) It is also a very noisy place, so if you are inside and the place is packed - as it was - you will have difficulty hearing one another. In short, between the staff and noise, the dining experience seemed harried and frenetic, not casual or intimate. Otherwise, if you're a foodie, you will not be disappointed. All dishes we ordered were delicious, beautifully seasoned, nicely plated, and true to form - right down to the flan for dessert. Again, if they sacrifice at least four tables and gather their wits, it will be a lovely dining experience for you.
Service usually world-class. Not as good this time. Food excellent as usual.
Love the service in this place - professional waitstaff. Excellent food - classic Spanish/Iberian. Meant for a long dinner with good conversation with friends. Almond liquor to end the meal is excellent.
Stopped in for a long lunch on the way to the airport and had a great experience. Good food and service.
I ordered the grilled grouper which tasted like a boiled chunk of fish and then thrown on the grill. The center of the cut was very "fishy tasting". It was the worst grouper i had eaten.
My wife ordered the paella. It was delivered cold, tasteless, etc...
To make things worse, no one asked if the food was good. Even the double chocolate cake was not good.
Love this place food is always great and staff is wonderful
My very favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh. As usual the service was impeccable and the food was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Even though it was restaurant week, they did not skimp on the food. The seafood medley was a big surprise with half a whole lobster with other delicacies. I love how they end with a shot of almond liquor. I will go back.
This place was such a surprise. Everything was great from the beginning. Service was fast. We never once waited. Our drinks were always refilled.
I’ll definitely be coming back!!
It is like a fast food restaurant. All of the food is obviously pre-prepared and simply heated up. The octopus smelled and tasted ‘off’ and neither my husband and I could eat it and we sent it back; they did remove the cost of the dish from our bill but that doesn’t excuse serving customers a mound of seafood that has gone bad. It was a very disappointing eating experience.
Great food but the real special side is the Service!! If you want a memorable meal this is where to go.
Service was great, food was excellent as always. Mallorca never disappoints. I recommend this restaurant to everyone
We went here during the Pittsburgh Restaurant week. There is a small parking lot by the restaurant for customers. There are a lot of food besides the three courses mentioned in the menu. They brought us a salad, and three side dishes as well (the house-made chips were very tasty). For the appetizer, my friend and I both ordered the garlic shrimp which looks and tastes delicious! For the main course I had the stuffed salmon, which was a little bland. The cheesecake dessert was delicious as well, but a little too sweet for me. Also the service is superb!!!!! Everyone is super nice and professional! I had a great time dining there.
The energy for a Friday night was loud and vibrant. There was more than one hand that helped our table but the hispanic gentleman who's name I didn't catch was an excellent touch to our evening. This waiter had just the right amount of humor and outgoing personality with great menu knowledge. The specials, while an incredibly long list and hard to verbally follow, was where we ordered our dishes. The seafood paella meadly's sauce was out of this world. All of the ingredients were cooked to perfection I didn't even use the rice! The seafood stuffed mushroom caps were so incredibly tasty as were the sautéed shrimp with garlic sauce. My mother loved her gigantic red snapper that they deboned at the table and my father felt the twin filet mignon with a side of lobster tail was exceptional. The wine selection was nice as was the dessert tray. My only complaint was when it came to check time. If you are in a hurry to get out of there I would be sure to let them know well in advance. They do hand written checks and if they're busy it felt like a long time to wait. All and all we got to spend more time together and enjoy our full bellys and happy hearts. Thank you Mallorca!
Aside from the consistent high quality and unique quality of the meals, Mallorca excels in its generosity of extras and reminds me of the highly professional waiters in Europe.
When I arrived at the restaurant they didn't know about my reservation and they were not nice about it. After we ordered a waitress brought us a salad that we didn't order and when we asked about it she couldn't answer. Off she went to talk to someone who came to us and just said "Don't touch this salad!". A third person came and explained that salad was included in our dinner, so we could finally eat it.
I asked for dulce de leche cheesecake as a desert and they brought me a pomegranate one without explaining anything.
Food was okay, but wine menu is ridiculous since you don't really choose the wine you're about to drink, you just select a variety.
I really don't recommend this place, given that it's not cheap.
I went with my dad and my boyfriend for my Birthday and we had a wonderful time.
Not bad but definitely better food out there for the price. Had a seafood meadely and lobster was so chewy I didn't eat it. Dulce de leche cheesecake was awesome.
Over all very good. I think they were overwhelmed for a Monday, but it is restaurant week. The server wasn't the best, but the bussers were so nice and friendly. I did have to send my steak back for being over cooked, but the replacement came out quickly and was cooked well.
The service was wonderful, and I couldn't have asked for a more delicious meal. Everyone in my group had a seafood dish - all the seafood or fish was so fresh and well prepared. It is definitely worth giving this place a try if you are ever in Pittsburgh.
Service was terrible. Food was ok. Way over priced. Will not recommend and not go back to again. Enjoyed sitting on the patio and people watching. The only positive I can say!
Food was awesome, service was good. Great night out for a date or with friends.
Supremely welcoming service with fresh and delicious food. The quinoa vegetarian paella was a particular standout. Most desserts are house made - the flan especially good.
Atmosphere was great food was good great environment we will be going back.
This is my favorite restaurant everything is delicious and such ample portions. The wait service is excellent. My favorite dishes are the crabmeat stuffed lobster and paella! So yummy!
