The waitress was SO nice and friendly. It took us a while to be recognized at the check-in counter which was a little awkward, but the meal and the staff was amazing!
Found this restaurant on Open Table, had lunch with a nice view of the river. We loved it and will return again.
Food was okay, standard buffet fair. Included mimosa was the worst I've ever tasted!
We had the best waitress and no waiting in line. The food was delicious. Our only concern was the female bartender was not smiling or friendly.
Easter buffet was very good, wait time was minimal, food was quite good, service was excellent
It was kind of ill kept. Food and silverware one floor. Dirty looking. The food was just OK. Industrial eggs - scrambled on buffet. Nothing special at all. A pea/mayonnaise salad. I was disappointed. First time there for a brunch set up - not impressed. However, I am willing to try again for off the menu ordering in evening sometime. The menu looks wonderful and the physical setting is fabulous.
We had a fabulous time. It was quiet due to the time of year, which was fine with us. It looks like it would be a fun place during summer. The food was outstanding, everything we had was wonderful!
We were there to celebrate my mom’s birthday. The food and drinks were excellent. They even gave my mom a free birthday dessert. Our server was courteous and fast. I would like to go to Mallard’s again when it’s warmer out to enjoy the view of the river.
Our reservations were for 7 pm and we did not get in until 7:30 so that was slow but otherwise, great food and staff!
Had not been here since former ownership (under the name, "Clyde's"). Good back then, and still good. Very tasty. Good variety of menu choices. Something tasty can be found for any price point. My wife had pecan crusted walleye. I had the 1 lb. of snow crab legs. All very very good. And, happy hour specials are very good too!
Wasn't worth the drive. Needs cleaning and updating. I almost feel they should be closed during winter.
Every thing was wonderful!!
I made reservations at 630pm for our group and we were not seated until 8pm. The manager did buy us all a drink of our choice, which was nice. We went for the all you can eat fish fry but by the time we were ready to order more fish the waitress stated they were out of it...??? The food we did get was good though.
We went for the fish fry! Highly recommend reservations! We had them and still waited 20 minutes for our table!
Server was great and food was excellent!
Very good food and service. We were early for our reservation but were seated immediately. We used a groupon for chefs dinner for two and were not disappointed. The full price seems a little on the high side, but the food was excellent. I think coming in the summer would be the best, as it showcases the St Croix river.
Food was delicious and service good. We treated our adult twins for their birthday. e might make it a tradition!
Good service and a great view, but the food was a little disappointing. We had the Chef's Dinner for two. The lobster bisque was good but we would prefer our lobster to be steamed and not deep fried. There was good, fresh bread and the lobster cakes were also good. I think the price was OK with the Groupon, but overpriced at regular prices. It would be a good spot to come for burgers and a beer during the summer months with all the boating activity.
Great Food and excellent service. We enjoyed the Chef's menu and also ordered off the main menu. Portions were good sized. Waiter was very good and attentive. Probably helped that we were one of only three or four tables of diners.
Mallards is by far one of our favorite dining restaurants for any occasion. The food is always "spot on"!
This is one of our favorite restaurants. Food is great & service is great also.
Arrived on time for reservation and waited 25 minutes to be seated. No waiter or waitress in bar so had to step up to crowded bar to get first drinks started for my party of 4. Host seating guests seemed like he wanted to be anywhere else except there that night. No smile or friendly greeting. Bar tender was great. Friendly and as attentive as he could be, while keeping up with his service. Might go back for an unrushed lunch sometime in the summer but there are way too many other nice restaurants for special occasion dining to choose from for my money and time.
Now that's what I call GREAT service! My husband and I always say, "the server starts out with 20% gratuity, then they have to earn it"! Well Andrea earned herself 25% when she came right to our table to greet us almost immediately even though she had several tables going! She was fantastic and so was the fish fry! Lightly battered and fried to a lovely golden deliciousness!! Thank you and we'll definitely return!
Had a 6pm reservation for 2. Checked in with the host at 5:55pm and was told it will be just a minute. Couple after couple were seated ahead of us while we stood on plan sight. At 6:22 I finally ask the host where we are on the list. He had marked us as checked in but forgot to seat us. He then can't recognize me 2 minutes later to seat me. Not impressed at all.
Nice location and service..Decent menu but Valentines Day special was a little disappointing.. Breaded lobster was dry, there was no salad, and portions were very small. Desert was shared and should have been per person...steak was delicious though. No coffee service. I thought at least one cocktail per person wold have made it a nice special as well as a photo op.
This is the best secret in town... Now I want to share with everyone who wants to experience the fun and food, great service and the best staff...
Waiter was rude, at the end of dinner not even a thank you just dropped off check and walked away
My husband and I looked so forward to our date night and for him to get crab legs. It was a pleasant surprise to him that on Thursday's you have all you can eat crab legs. While the food both his and mine was very good, hot and initially served within a reasonable time, he was not asked if he wanted more crab legs until 5-10 minutes after he finished his current plate, each time. We're accustomed to service for AYCE food to be more frequent and closer to when you finish your current plate, rather than up to 10 mins after and then it's another 10 mins to get the reorder delivered. I really enjoyed my Mediterranean shrimp, but I think it would still be fabulous with a little less capers. Lastly, it felt pretty chilly in the dining area, but I put my coat on and was fine.
We were there for a family members birthday. It was a Thursday evening and some of us had the all you can eat crab legs They were a real treat and the server was very attentive. She came back and brought us more in a timely fashion. Others had dishes off the menu and all were happy with their meals.
We had a good time and will be back.
That’s for providing a wonderful dining spot for any occasion (or even none at all).
We have been here before but I stumbled over a Groupon that had all my husbands favorites (crab cakes, lobster bisque, steak with a lobster tail) so I bought it. We won’t ever be doing that again. We will share an app & get a couple entrees next time. Our server could not have been less interested in us after we revealed the Groupon when we ordered. This is a great place during the warmer seasons. Just don’t expect great service.
Used a steak/lobster groupon for 4 on Sunday night. Was met with little or no interest from the bar keeper and had to wait for a table to be set up. (Hint: if you do that, at least seat us at a table that we can't see. The one we got was ready all along!)
Portions were extremely small. Maybe a 4 oz. piece of meat and the lobster looked like a tiger shrimp. The food tasted very good, but not much even with the discounted groupon. Our waitress was nice. She warmed up as the night went on. Service, once seated, was fine.
Would not willingly go there again. There are too many other good restaurants around the area.
Great food, great service! We had the 4 course meal-very tasty and filling! We've also been here in the summer and had the lobster roll on the patio and it was terrific!
The food was over priced and very small portions. Limited menu on new years eve and nothing looked appealing. Serviced was slow and not friendly
I've never seen so many upset costumers with the all you can eat crab special for $20.99 (it's only for the first pound). If you ask for more crab the all you eat price is $39.99 (the staff won't mention the increased price). Use caution when reading this menu. They have NO problems hiding these issues until your bill arrives. I can't go back to place that plays deceptive games with it's customers.
We know committed help is good to find. This establishment was not prepared to serve a memorable Christmas Eve meal. We were seated 45 min. after our reservation, being told that the table prior to us just was staying around and talking, but when we were seated it took another 45 min just to receive our meal. The 7 fishes meal was prepared well, but the dishes
looked as though they have been served on multiple times and did not present the food well.
I do not leave reviews, but we drove from Lakeville to Bayport in expectation of a lovely evening only to be grateful when it was over. No extra deserts or beverages were offered for their lack of providing a pleasant experience on Christmas Eve. (we did not ask, as we did not feel it was our place to do so). That being said ~
Good food, friendly staff, and a nice atmosphere make for a pleasant evening.
We visited Mallards on Christmas Eve. We all enjoyed the experience. The food was tasty and nicely presented. The service was fantastic even though the dining room was packed. The Christmas Eve menu included a nice variety of entrees, and our party of 7 ordered 7 different meals. Everyone was very satisfied. Thank you!
They were open on Christmas Eve so me and my mom gave it a shot. It was very very good! I will definitely return. I had the lobster mac and cheese. It was a generous portion and was excellent! The cheese is the absolute gooiest I have every seen, it's crazy!
One of our favorite spots. Good for a nice quiet evening out. Nothing special but you can count on a nice meal, good service, good cocktails, reasonable prices.
Food was excellent and so was the service. Will definitely go back.
