Amazing food and great service in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Southern Fusion at its finest! Save room for the "Coffee and Cigarettes" dessert.

The food and service was incredible from start to finish! It's very cozy inside, and the acoustics and ambience are perfect. I would return for sure, and I recommend the Pennsylvania Peking Duck dish especially.

On point as always. Food is a knock-out. Seriously talented chef. New pork chop is fantastic... although I do hope the carpetbagger steak (steak with fried oysters on top) returns to the menu! Great service and the beer list menu upstairs is the best I've seen in the city (along with The Sovereign, which belongs to the same restaurant group). This place really has something going and I 100000% recommend it.

We had a wonderful experience at Mallard. Love the Southern touch to the dishes. Krystal was our server and she was so great! She recommended and guided us through drinks, apps and entrees. What a treat to find this restaurant while in DC. Definitely will come back on our next visit. My husband order the trout and I had the duck. Both delicious entrees. Do not miss the fried oysters.

Mallard is the kind of restaurant that sneaks up on you—in the best way possible. You come in expecting a solid meal, but you leave wondering how you’ll ever settle for anything less. Let’s start with the duck wings. Perfectly crisp, deeply flavorful, and unapologetically indulgent. The cheeseburger? A masterclass in simplicity done right—juicy, expertly seasoned, and topped just enough to enhance rather than overshadow the rich beefiness. The shrimp and grits bring the kind of Southern comfort that sticks with you, creamy yet light, with the right balance of spice and savoriness. The blue crab tartine is where things get truly exciting. Fresh, delicate crab piled onto perfectly grilled bread, a combination that manages to be both rustic and refined. And the dessert—coffee & cigarettes—might sound unconventional, but it’s downright genius, pairing smoky depth with velvety sweetness in a way that lingers on the palate long after you’ve finished. Mallard knows how to make food feel both familiar and wildly exciting. Every bite is crafted with care, every dish tells a story, and every meal leaves you planning your next visit before you even walk out the door.

The take on Peking Duck was outstanding, as was the soft-shell crab. Wish they had some sort of bread service if just to purchase. We really like bread with our meal.

This was my second time here, and true to form, it was outstanding. I can't get enough of the atmosphere, and the food sends the whole experience right into the stratosphere! Amazing.
