Maligne Canyon Wilderness Kitchen
Absolutely Awesome !!! Food was well above expectation, atmosphere was great. Will definitely go back.
Spectacular, location, interior decor (patio in summer), menu, food, drinks, dessert! Just simply awesome, a hidden gem absolutely worth the short drive from town. Food was so so good!
Great place with good food at a reasonable price. We arrived Friday around five. No one has figured out yet that this place is open all winter now and it is a restaurant not just a tea room. The decor is upscale Rocky Mountain rustic complete with patio fire pits. We had falling snow and crisp temperatures making for a fairytale like setting. On Saturday nights and in the summer they have a full dinner menu. The lunch menu is upscale pub food. The garlic fries are the best.
We will be back.
We had lunch on a Monday afternoon at the Maligne Canyon Wilderness Kitchen after our hike. It was the perfect spot to rest and recharge. It's such a beautifully decorated restaurant with very comfortable seating. Staff were extremely friendly and our food was delicious. We had the bison burger and chicken sandwich. Since it was Monday, sandwiches were buy one get one free. What a great deal! We would love to come back for dinner and see the place at night.
Such a great place to eat. Had our kids and another family and service was great. Will come back
Food was great, slightly cold based on my preferences. Veg platter was wonderful!! Great variety of sauces - nice flavours. Loved the decor of the place, well done!
It was great. Wine prices are quite high, but good wine. Food was great.
Great experience overall. Meals were delicious and servers attentives to our needs. Glad we made that choice to celebrate our new year.
It was our second time dining at this restaurant and we celebrated the New Year's Eve here. It was as good the second time as we remembered from the first visit and well worth the 320 km round trip drive.
the food, service and the staff were all excellent. We will be visiting again during 2020.
Wonderful food in an excellent setting. A little out of the way but so worth it.
Wonderful Restaurant @ beautiful Maligne Canyon (Top of the trail head) great decor and ambience, along with all the wonderful Jasper scenery outside the large picture windows, A+.
Food and drinks are very good but on the pricier side. Smoked meat sampler platter was good but could have had a bit more meat and better cuts of the Brisket (Not thin sliced like roast beef) and not reheated like leftovers! BBQ Meat needs to be fresh that day or dries out quickly. (Suggest only offering Smokehouse offerings on certain days if too much work for daily offerings) A great place for cozy couples dinner or family gathering alike. For Something Special try the dinner & Evening Canyon Icewalk tour!
Wonderful food, beautifully presented. Great service and unique ambiance in a great setting. Kudos to the Chef of this fantastic establishment, lots of attention to details!
I would highly recommend the wilderness kitchen to anyone looking for a truly unique dining experience.
Food portions were half the size as last time. Was told portions were small because prices were lowered but they weren’t. Food was cold and had to be sent back for new
I was so looking forward to this meal as part of me and my husbands Jasper Dark Sky experience and I was completely disappointed. The only good thing about the restaurant was the free bus ride from Jasper to Maligne Canyon Kitchen.
My husband and I eat out a lot and can put up with a bit of bad service, slow service, and bad food but this was way beyond terrible especially for the price. We also observed in the dining room a lot of confusion - people getting the wrong orders etc. We spent $86 on a meal that was barely worth half of that. We will not be returning nor will we recommend this restaurant.
This place is awesome! If you’re in the jasper/ Hinton area, it is a must. If you’re looking for a more romantic setting or even out with some friends. It’s definitely nicer than any place you’ll find actually in jasper and their meat platter is great and a good price. I don’t know if they’re family friendly, the atmosphere definitely feels more like an adult retreat. It is a bit more expensive overall, but nothing crazy for jasper, it’s what you’d expect if you’re familiar with jasper resort pricing.
Great location! Come a bit early if you can to explore the canyon. Free shuttle service was definitely appreciated!
Great service and food in a special location.
Great poutine & an ok smoked chicken roll but maybe look at better bread. Buffet lunch being served for a private function looked great
Maybe next time we’ll turn up with 5000 Japanese !!
Great views and ambiance. food was good, but service was slow. make a reservation beforehand if possible
Food was not so good. beef was dry, in fact I was not sure it beef or not. Chicken was hard. Rice was raw can't be chew. All above description was my experience for meal on 9/19.
Has being a smoke house primary we do offer a few vegetarian dish also. one of those is called Veggie Bowl. This dish is under revision and will be revamp soon Smoked meat is the result of a method of preparing red meat, white meat, and seafood .Smoking adds flavor, improves the appearance of meat through the Maillard reaction, combined with curing preserves the meat. Hot smoking is primarily used for taste and to slow cook the meat. Slow cook meat can only be tender. We hope to see you again
Truly an amazing place. The service was fantastic and they were very friendly. The food was great and we'll worth the money. My wife and I would highly recommend this place to everyone. You will enjoy

Service was excellent and efficient. Lovely setting. The Wilderness Sampler was an excellent value and great tasting.
Great food, had sampler platter for dinner - very generous with full-size sides, but very skimpy on the portions of meat. The next day we went back for lunch, and had the brisket sandwich and a chicken sandwich. Again the food was delicious, but the meat in the sandwiches was very scant. Staff was very accommodating, the view was spectacular. I would recommend this place to anyone!
So, the "Wilderness" is a bit exaggerated. The Restaurant is situated right next to the parkingot for Maligne Canyon Hikes, but also next to the entrance of the canyon, which is nice. The ambience is a good mixture of classic (fireplace with stones, decoration, cozy pillows) and modern style. The menu is not too long, which might become the food quite well, since the meal I ordered was delicious, fresh and I didn't have to wait long for it (differing from my neighbouring tables, though...). The place is pricy, but still within the limit. The waitresses and waiters were friendly. It was just a bit chilly in the main room, since it was a cold day and some of the upper windows would still be open
Thanks for the great service! Food was beautifully presented but a little lacking. I ordered the veggie bowl, which was mostly rice and the s’mores, which were barely warm.
The food was absolutely amazing. The ambience was very nice. Thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience.
My friend and I visited the Wilderness Kitchen for local appreciation week, and was sadly disappointed by the food. The server was new, but did her job well, the ambiance was great, wine was great, but the food was not good at all. I'm not one to complain but there was nothing good about either of our dishes. I work in Jasper with tourists and recomend your restaurant daily. I have been there for lunch a couple of times and its been really good. I have heard from several locals lately about their disappointment as well. I am hoping you can find a solution to this problem as you have so much potential. Looking forward to dining again as I am willing to give it another chance.
Enjoyed our dinner for 8.
A rustic feel, but clean and modern. Excellent patio for good weather days. Good value and scenic location. Shares parking with canyon sightseers. Parking is a nightmare from early morning until late afternoon.
Service was a bit slow, and food for the most part was delicious but overall a bit cold. I think the steam trays need to be turned up. Loved the acorn soup and would def come back just for that
Love this new place, have been there several times. Last night we were there and found all the food to be cold. Had the meat platter with sides and it was all cold.
Misses an order. Kitchen slow. Food good.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening out at the canyon and will visit again soon (we are locals).
We made a reservation so we could enjoy the fabulous voice of Warrior Women. We really loved it and she is so nice and friendly, it was a real pleasure meeting her. If you can see her and listen to her songs, don't hesitate, go for it !
But about the restaurant, the food was good though it was a little expensive for what we got. Plus the service was approximative, long wait and so almost cold food plus forgotten fries...
We had a very pleasant dining experience, the service was excellent and we enjoyed our tasty bison burgers.
We were late for our reservation and they had given our table away... but they still made room for us. Thank you! Our server was fabulous and very attentive. The food was okay, the chicken, sausage and Mac and cheese were very dry. The restaurant is was beautiful! I wish them every success!
Great atmosphere and food.
Jarrod gave us an excellent service. Good food, awesome outside view
even though the food was good, I was expecting more game on the menu
Wonderful setting and a menu that reflects the theme to a T. Portions are plentiful and be prepared for well prepared and flavoured food. Gift shop has many unique items and great books about the area
