Malabar Spanish Cuisine Ratings and Reviews
When we walked it they told us we would immediately need to sit down and know what we wanted to order because they closed at 10:30 and our reservation was at 9:15, the time we arrived. It was my friend's birthday and the waiter made her a drink that was much too strong and seemed angry that we were there the whole time. So rude.
We took my mother-in-law there while she was in town. Her grandparents were Spanish so we thought she would enjoy the experience. It was great to be able to try many small plates and we liked 90% of what we tried. Service was very good. Setting is intimate due to small size of dining room but still a lively, active place. We really liked it!
My "date" for the evening was my 10 year-old granddaughter with whom I was attending a ballet at the nearby Belk Theatre. The clearly marked gluten-free options and the option of tapas allowed us to select a variety of foods we could share. While I enjoyed a lovely Spanish Malbec, she sipped a cranberry juice cocktail. We began with a selection of olives, then shrimp with garlic, eggs baked over scalloped potatoes, and chicken skewers with vegetables. The wait staff treated her with kindness and respect. Our waiter made several excellent recommendations including the home-made strawberry gelato that brought the happiest smile to her face. She felt so grown up and this grandfather was most appreciative.
Food was good and drink was good, so was service. However didn't like the fact that the restaurant still charge for my wife's drink which had bug in it. Although the restaurant provide new drink but still as courtesy they shud have not charged for the drink. Overtake it was ok experience.
We've been here multiple times and always love it. Never had a bad meal and tried numerous things on the menu. The Paella is excellent and the traditional tapas like croquettes and patatas bravas are also wonderful. A good selection of meats, cheeses and wine makes it a must if you are in Charlotte.
My wife and I sent to Malabar for an early dinner. I work very close to the restaurant and I wanted to try it out. I am very glad I did. The food was very good. We ordered 4 tapas which was the right amount of food, dessert and coffee. The ravioli and salmon carpaccio were our favorites. I recommend Malabar.
Had a great time here! My fiancé and I met here after work for a dinner date. The empanadas are very good, and sangria was very refreshing after a long day at work. We had the paella which was good, and in the tradition, was a lot of food. I would definitely recommend coming here.
Good food and variety but very expensive. $20 corking fee PER bottle. Every other resturant waives the fee especially when you purchase additional bottles from the resturant. Very disappointed at this. Fun for a quick bite. Paella very good! Dinner too expensive.
The food was flavorful, just the right seasonings. The chicken and beef empanadas were great. My husband had the rollito de pollo, I had the suquet de mariscos and we both enjoyed it. And topped with dessert, tiramisu and coconut flan delicious. The staff treated us very curtious and attentively.
