Great Food & Drinks!
We usually love this place for Sunday breakfast, but decided to go there on a Saturday night to celebrate a landmark birthday. The menu offers many tempting choices, and those who chose mahi-mahi, seafood soup and the steak were very pleased. But the sort-ribs, wow! The best I ever had. The wine list is good, big and very reasonable.
We all always love MaKoko for Sundaybreakfast, and they were “wowed” by the variety and quality of food, and the attentiveness of the serine. These are not ordinary tourists, whatever that means; one owned a highly successful high-end restaurant in New York, the other is a world-traveler based in San Francisco.
As always, the breakfast buffet was outstanding. The food—in both it’s quality and variety—is first rate, and the service is perfect, kind, intelligent and professional. We love going here on Sunday mornings.
The Mangroove breakfast in the MaKoko restaurant is the way we like to start every Sunday. Generally, there is an abundant buffet-style breakfast, with an egg station staffed by Enidida, a wonderful and charming cook, a hot food station with Costa Rican specialties, as well as some continental items like sausages, and hosted by the kind and observant Merlin, a table of fresh fruit plates, a yogurt station, a croissant and mini-Danish pastry station, excellent coffee and fresh orange juice served by the vigilant and professional wait staff (I usually forget names, but I remember from this visit Tracy, Alberto, Gabriel, and also Karla). The hostess (Massiel) is elegant and gracious—in short, there is no better way to start your Sunday. It is well worth the price.
We go to MaKoko for breakfast every Sunday. Generally there is a buffet, which is excellent, but even when there is no buffet the choices are superb. The service is very professional and exceptionally friendly, the hostess (Massiel) is welcoming and cordial, and the open air room is spacious and elegant. Applause to the management for a great experience and for exceptional sanitary measures.
This is still the best breakfast in the area. The buffet on weekends is truly great, but even when they are only doing a la carte, it’s a fine experience.
Makoko has a truly superb breakfast buffet. It is costly by local standards, but the choices and quality are unequaled in the area. The elegant open air covered setting only enhances the pleasure (there are no mosquitoes— how do they manage that, or don’t I want to know?).
The breakfast is excellent, if a little pricey. They didn’t have the breakfast buffet, which is really superb, but the menu is very good, probably the best in the Coco/Playa Hermosa/Playa Panamá area
The restaurant is quite elegant, but like everything else in Costa Rica these days, not busy. The service is attentive, and the menu somewhat interesting. I had a nice appetizer of asparagus with Parmesan and my friend had grilled hearts of palm (too tough). My main course risotto was good, and my friend’s baked fresh mahi-mahi was excellent. All in all, a good dining experience, upscale by Guanacaste standards, and not overpriced.
The absolute perfect place to enjoy a wonderful dinner surrounded with beautiful hearts. The Costa Rican people!
It was our anniversary and Mother’s Day and they were amazing. Do yourself a favor and order the bellotero. It’s expensive, but worth it
