Yet again, Makisu Sushi has delivered with an outstanding meal. Sushi outside of downtown Chicago is often disappointing, which makes this establishment all the more welcome in the neighborhood.
Pricing is not the cheapest, but it is fair to good value for money. Looking forward to returning...
Great food, very reasonable prices,. The booth seating is very nice.
They gave plenty of fish with each order & I was impressed with how full I left. The food was nicely prepared & delicious. The staff was attentive
A bit pricey but everything was great!
Service was a little of for a slow wedneaday night
This is as comfortable a restaurant that there is. It serves both traditional Japanese as well as a nice selection ot American favorites for those so inclined. You will not be disappointed with either selection options. Attentive friendly service and nice and quiet all add to a most enjoyable dining experience.
I felt like the plates were less decorative than usual. Overall the food was delicious especially the miso soup. The waitress wasn't really able to answer questions about the menu and different selections.
Overall we would return though. Great local place for sushi,
Great service, fresh food and great presentation
Excellent and ample choices of sushi and sashimi. Very fresh and tasty. Good sake selection. Perfect place for a date.
Excellent quality, great service and reliable food. My favorite Jspanese restaurant in the northern suburbs.
Servers Amy and Juan Carlos were wonderful
Great sushi, great presentation and friendly service. Can't ask for much more than that!
Outstanding Asian cuisine at great prices in a lovely, clean environment. Great service, too!
Beautifully presented, delicious food. Good service. Modern decor.
Our new favorite Japanese restaurant in the' burbs.
Nice, friendly neighborhood sushi place. Good food. Friendly service. a good neighborhood place.
We love our local sushi joint! The food and service is always great.
Always a great time. We usually get the same main on couse since they don't have variety. Susui and rolls - there are plent of choices.
Went with a group of friends, the King Kong roll was really good!
Love, love, love Makisu! Everything is fresh and amazing with generous portions! Try the short ribs and save room for desert!!
It's such a nice place to eat sushi. Wasn't aware of this place, been looking for nice place to eat sushi that I don't have to go to downtown. Very good food!
The decor's not hot, but comfortable enough and the sushi was fantastic!! Try the sake flight and the tuna sampler!
All the rolls were delicious and our waiter Dan was great
Our favorite, braised short ribs - yum!!
Desserts are pretty good but coffee is no longer served, which is necessary with dessert!!! We met the owner a few years back and gave the restaurant rave reviews. But service has gone down & the restaurant has lost that sparkle. ☹️
Food was ok. Service was bad. We had to ask the host to find our server every time we wanted another round of drinks.
No iPads offered to order as the website suggested
Good was good
The soft shell crab was great
3 other tables around also ordered it as a table appetizer
Great place, wonderful food, superb service. We truly enjoyed the evening.
We arrived here on Saturday night around 10pm, but the waiter told us that we have only few minutes to order because the kitchen is closing, even at thmain e door shows hour's for Saturday 10.30 pm
The food is good but service wasn't,
we felt like we we're rushed at al time and the waiter didn't come back after the food was served. .been here couple times in the past was much better service..
Hopefully management will take care of it..
living in the neighborhood, we really want to love this restaurant. on certain days, the food can be wonderful; others, not so much. inconsistency is the main problem here. the shrimp fried rice used to be phenomenal, with large pieces of delicious shrimp generously distributed through the dish. last two visits, however, you could barely find the seafood. they used to use great large shrimp in this and the shrimp kushiyaki, but they're now using smaller, less tasty shrimp. and the rice itself was more like quinoa. originally, they used fresh pineapple in the tuna tatami; now, it's canned. and we always order sparkling water with out meals, but half the time, lately, they have none. we've mentioned these and other issues to management, but it doesn't seem to matter.
i will say that the servers are always very eager to please, but it's a shame that as soon as we get to know any single server, they're gone and someone new is in their place. that said, the service is consistently very good.
i really hope they can get their act together, as we'd love to look forward to dining there once a week.
We had a great experience here. Top-notch service, good food, and yummy peach martinis. Perfect choice before our movie. We'll definitely be back.
Service was great. The food came pretty quickly and was delicious. Extensive menu.
Great food and great atmosphere. You forget that you are in a strip mall!
Amazing service. I snuck off and told the waitress that I was planning on proposing after we finished eating. She brought out Champaign and strawberrys, and even took a photo.
Great selection, outstanding menu, awesome service. One of the best sushi restos in the northern 'burbs!
Servers are very personable. Offered helpful advice on recommended dishes. Took the time to get to know the guests and what they were looking for in terms of cuisine preferences. Excellent experience.
We were surprised with the sushi. Our guest ordered a sushi tray but was disappointed since the rice was hard from probably waiting on the counter too long. I had tekka don n my rice was also dry n hard. My husband had the short ribs - excellent. The meat melted off the bone n was outstanding. The desserts are beautiful n delicious. We should have call the chef but needed to hurry home.
We love this restaurant for consistent over all experience but we were so disappointed in our l sat visit. With tables available in the m a in dinning room we were seated in the lounge area. Our server seemed like she was rushing us which in fact she did. And my food came out cold. We have never had anything but exemplary experiences here. Please let this be a one time bad night. We will be back again,as we are sure this is not the new trend.
We had an wonderful dinner at Makisu on a very snowy Valentine's night. The restaurant is candle lit, and the booths are very romantic. After a glass of wine at the bar, our table was ready. We started with some sushi appetizers then had the chicken terriyaki dinner. Everything was just delicious! Paul and his staff go out of their way to serve you excellent food in a romantic atmosphere. This is a neighborhood gem not to be missed!
We come here a lot. This is our sushi spot. Salmon was great. Yellowtail excellent. Tuna was not good this night. Overall solid though.
Cozy atmosphere and fairplay attentive waiters. Unfortunately, the sushi didn't blow us away. The rolls was rolled pretty loose and the rice wasn't as sticky as normal resulting in rolls and nigiri falling apart when picked up. The fish seemed fresh, but didn't seem to be high quality - the pieces on the nigiri wasn't as light and 'buttery' as you could hope. I won't return - I want delicious, high quality fish when I eat sushi!
It took a while for a waiter to notice us, but after that service was spot on.
