Appetizers were good, entrees just ok. Steak temperature cooked under what was requested. Waitress was ok.
Good food from interesting menu. Cocktails were awesome, especially liked that there was an option that wasn’t sweet. Did well with a gluten intolerance. Gave us time and space to visit.
The service was very good, very nice staff. Food was OK
Would rate restaurant a 10 but parking is a challenge & only 1 hotel elevator was working. When we left we found the side door on Church St. which was a short flight up. Much better option. Valet parking is a must as that area is so busy. Our waitress was excellent & food was delicious. Will definitely return. Want to go back one evening when the “speakeasy” is open. Hotel has been beautifully restored. So glad to see people restoring historic buildings rather than tearing them down. Definitely want to try the rooftop restaurant in spring/summer.
Not enough vegetarian options. Service felt understaffed. Other then that everything was great.
Had a great time. Beautiful building and all the staff was very friendly
It’s a restaurant for the hotel. Service staff were on cell phones and looked sloppy- menu was odd
We enjoyed the ambiance. The soft pretzel and beer cheese dip are fantastic. It looks ideal for groups.
One of our local favorites.
This restaurant is just okay. Which is surprising because the majority of the reviews for the food, the ambiance, and the overall experience are raving. But, then you have to wonder...are all these reviewers small town tourists or Nashville natives? Because if you've never been to the "big city" before, or you're born and raised in Nashville (and don't travel!) then maybe this restaurant IS amazing to you, and the food might be great, if you've never been to a great restaurant before? I don't know. We weren't impressed.
SO good! The food was delicious, service was great, ambience was relaxing and cool. Really enjoyed our breakfast and this new spot.
Eclectic menu for a Sunday brunch. If not familiar with the area, the restaurant is difficult to find since signage is minimal.
Wonderful food - simple but creative. The Pork Cheek special was super tender and the burgers were buttery and tasty.
Looked for someplace away from the busy loud Broadway scene but close enough to go back after. The food was great and it was exactly what we wanted.
If I was rating only the food, Makeready would receive 5 stars. However, since the restaurant was preparing for a big prepaid dinner, starting 90 mins after our reservation, the service was poor. Several things were not available on the menu (3 different items we tried to order). We felt rushed by the servers to finish so they could clear the table. We had to ask 2x for drinks. Desert was not offered. And we were there to celebrate a birthday. The food was great, but service needs to be reviewed when there is an event happening at the restaurant later in the evening. We had the feeling we were an inconvenience.
Great service and the food was amazing!
Very nice atmosphere. Food was decent, but our server should have asked how we wanted the burger cooked, swordfish was a little dry.
Enjoyed dinner with a friend. This is a gem within the Noelle hotel (has an independent entrance) they'll also valet and validate if you go in for dinner. Between the well-crafted cocktails, appetizers that include the deviled eggs, a huge pretzel, entrees that feature Elk chops and burgers, and a dessert that takes banana pudding and infuses it with bourbon you have the makings of a great meal!
The best biscuit I ever had. Their chicken dinner was delicious. The strawberry mascarpone cake melted in your mouth. Definitely a worthy meal.
The best spot downtown that won't break the bank, has inspired seasonal food, and a fantastic curated draft list. If I were to open my perfect restaurant it would be Makeready. Tell only as many people as needed to keep the place profitable and open, but let's keep this new(ish) gem of downtown a secret. There's plenty of crap downtown Nashville that we need to support this great place as much as possible. Need to stay open later than 10pm on weekends though, people.
Our party had a great time. All food was great. My ribeye was the only thing that was just ok.
Great service. Not so great food.
Food was ok, service was a little slow and bartender was slow to respond with few guest. convenient place before a TPAC show
Not sure what was happening in the kitchen, but our idea of a relaxing dinner turned into a stressful and frustrating experience.
We arrived at 6:15 and told our server that we were walking to an 8:00 show at TPAC. Ordered everything (all on pre-fixed menu) at server’s first visit to our table (2 pp).
While our appetizer came @ 6:45, our entrees arrived after repeated inquiries at 7:20 - over an hour after they were ordered!
Dessert arrived at 7:40 after more inquiries with an incorrect bill.
While the food was good, the experience was tainted.
waited 20 minutes for a 6:15 reservation for 4. Food took a very long time. Missed start of 8 pm show.
Our server at the restaurant was very friendly and gave great recommendations. The chicken was fantastic, as was the mac and cheese. My friend had the meat and three, and said that was great as well. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try. Right next to Printer's Alley too.
Didn’t have the greatest service and the food was just ok. We’ve been there before when it was less busy and had a better experience. They really could stand to expand some of their menu options. My biggest issue was paying $19 for a very small old fashioned using run of the mill bourbon. Anywhere else in Nashville charges about $12 and you get a decent pour with a higher quality bourbon. Nothing really to write home about or recommend here unfortunately. I wish it was better because it is in a great location and nice atmosphere. It was just ok.
Our food was lukewarm and just okay. For what we paid, I expected better quality.
The fettuccine bolognese is wonderful! Really everything has been that I’ve tried there.
Fantastic place...great vibe...food...and service. A home-run.
Good option when the great places are booked. Location is great by Printers Alley. Service was okay. Waitress forgot parts of order twice. Fish was good and ample size. Chicken pot pie was very good and could be an entire. Small bourbon collection. Very good selection of beer. Good, expensive cocktails. I would recommend. We left happy.
Nice atmosphere and good service. I had the cheeseburger, but wasn’t impressed. Weird tasting sauce and I even had some major tummy rumbles a few hours later. We don’t have plans to return.
My wife and I ordered the A5 Wagyu...we’ve had it ejsewhere
Price points are too high for what you get! You are charging a premium for what?
Swordfish was wonderful.
We scheduled an early dinner before a performance at the Ryman. We started with cocktails and craft beer; all were excellent. Four of us shared a pretzel appetizer and the smoked salmon dip. The pretzel was just the right amount of chewy and the salmon dip was loved by all. The aged ribeyes were cooked as ordered and had a nice crust. The meat and three (a meatball with bacon tomato jam and lemon ricotta cheese, garlic whipped potatoes, salad greens) was the star of the show. We will definitely be back.
Three people - three different meals - all excellent. And then came dessert... let's just say from the first bite to licking the plate at the end not a crumb of the peach pie nor a spoonful of the ice cream were left. And the waiter, Wade, was just great.
I had the trout piccata and my other 3 family friends had steak. Everything came out perfect, even at 9:30 pm on a Sunday night. Don't be afraid to book late to miss some of the early night rush. great drinks as well. This place is on printer's Alley. Eat here then go see a show at the Bourbon Street Blues.
Went here for dinner before a concert at the Ryman on a recommendation from our daughter who lives in Nashville.
So glad we did! The menu is very diverse and interesting and reasonably priced. I had the grouper and my husband had the Trout piccata. I think his was a bit better. It was a generous portion of fish with a lovely, classic piccata sauce on top. The grouper also was delicious, but a bit dry and served on asparagus. The couple next to us had the schnitzel and they said it was amazing. Will try that when we go back.
The place is adorable and spacious. It's inside a very cool turn of the century hotel. You can enter from the street or the hotel.
This was the second time I have had a dinner meeting for five people at makeready. They have great service, excellent food at reasonable prices, and an atmosphere that allows conversation at the table. The chicken pot pie appetizer is really a meal, and is the best chicken pot pie I have ever eaten.
