About this restaurant

Majordōmo, from Dave Chang and Momofuku, serves California cuisine inspired by the different food cultures present in Los Angeles and the bounty of Southern California products. In a sleek, industrial setting with a sun-soaked patio and full bar, Majordōmo offers various ways to dine for groups of all sizes. Executive Chef Tim Mangun highlights California’s bounty through knockout large format dishes like whole plate short rib and smoked bo ssäm to a constantly changing roster of bings & dips.

Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: Tim Mangun

From the OpenTable editors: Culinary king David Chang's LA flagship is peak Momofuku with its masterful use of Asian-leaning ingredients through a global lens. That comes together at Majordōmo in dishes like a citrus salad with ricotta and shiso, the iconic smoked bo ssäm, and tres leches cake—seemingly disparate flavors that Chang blends with ease using gorgeous produce for a uniquely Californian meal. The industrial Chinatown space also has a sun-drenched patio that's perfect for LA's temperate days.

Menu hasn’t changed in five years. Won’t be back. The food is just dated and uninspired. Easy appetizers like tomato salad shouldn’t take that long. Food took awhile and wasn’t even hot.

Food and drinks are incredible! Staff are pros but also friendly enough to make you feel at home. My wife and I love our dinners here.

Our second visit to your restaurant was a mixed bag, leaning towards a negative experience. On the positive side, the food quality was quite decent, and our waitress was incredibly attentive, providing the best service of the evening. However, several issues detracted from our enjoyment. The portions of the dishes were remarkably small, which was a consistent disappointment. My cocktail order, specifically requested without ice, arrived in a glass (the size of a coffee cup) nearly full of ice, leaving very little liquid. Furthermore, the noise level on the patio made it challenging to hold a conversation. While the food has its merits, the overall experience needs significant improvement.

From start to finish, every one in our party was wowed by our meal. The bings always a crowd pleaser. The mushroom crispy rice always reminds me home. And what can I say about the mains?! The beef short rib and short rib fried rice, nothing short of perfection. The bosam tender rich but light at the same time. The boiled chicken- nothing ordinary about this complex dish. Oh don’t forget about the potatoes 😊. Always a great time when I come here.

Group/ family gathering to celebrate a special occasion. Food was excellent and service warm, friendly and helpful. Expensive for sure… but we knew that going into it and for the purpose of creating fun and entertaining but family oriented and bonding atmosphere (without being able to do this in our own home because we don’t live there) - it worked really well and we had an amazing time together
