Majolica Ratings and Reviews
We have been in this restaurant before and return occasionally for its exceptional, creative and tasty food served by attentive, friendly servers in a pleasant somewhat cozy atmosphere. Some intermittent surprise bites between courses only add to the pleasure. Highly recommend to anyone who has not been there or does not go too frequently since menu changes only rarely, if ever.
The food and service are exceptional. It's a small place and it can get a little loud. Lot's of nice personal touches when you dine here. Both times that I have been here you get a chef snack sent to the table which add's to the enjoyment. The menu is a little heavy on seafood / fish options which may deter some.
Excellent BYOB with interesting and constantly changing menu. This time I ordered the grilled Octopus, which was perfectly charred but still tender and flavorful. Entree was Rabbit Ragout served over house-made Pappardelle.....outstanding. My wife ordered the Autumn Squash soup, followed by the Duck cassoulet, a rich hearty meal for a cold autumn evening. Followed the meal with the cheese board, showing a variety of locally produced cheeses. Would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates fine food.
First time visit ... and will be back. The starter courses of the sweetbreads was very nice .. the maple syrup 'sauce' added a uniqueness; the scallop was worthy as an entrée!!. And the second course of the lamb cassoulet hit the mark ... very authentic, very flavorful and perfect for the evening. The halibut second course .. well, not so much ... but the kitchen addressed the issue of the garlic without hesitation. The staff was excellent .. friendly, engaging and very aware of what was being served. And knew just when to refill the wine. A very nice evening.
Another wonderful meal at Majolica! After parking in their tiny 8-space lot (a most welcome rarity in Phoenixville!), we were warmly greeted and seated right away. Started with the olives and almonds - very tasty - and the familiar and , as always, yummy amuse of tuna tartare on house made potato chip. Had a favorite appetizer of the beets and beef salad but was blown away by the special app: escargot with polenta. The escargot were super garlicky (a big plus in my book!) and the polenta served in a beautiful 'log' with crispy outside and hot, creamy inside. I hope this one makes it to the regular menu! The butternut squash soup with lobster was also perfect - great savory flavors and 'just done' lobster claw - divine! For my entree I had the pork shoulder with kale and lentils and enjoyed it thoroughly. Knowing desserts are not to be missed, I ate half and saved the rest for lunch the next day (it was still delicious then!) The real star was the rabbit ragu on house-made pappardelle. Though less a ragu than just beautifully roasted rabbit, the pasta was gorgeous and the sauce flavorful and complex. We all shared the cardamom doughnuts and coffee ice-cream and the chocolate pot du creme , leaving not a crumb or morsel behind. Wth the very good decaf, a wonderful end to an already delicious meal. Service was unobtrusive, professional and engaging . Even though we live more than 30 miles away and it often takes an hour to get there, I am looking forward to my next visit already.
We are regulars and decided to splurge and go for the 8 course tasting menu on a Thursday night. The courses were all exquisite, and while they likely change seasonally, we enjoyed some of the finest delicacies we ever had there or elsewhere. This is fine cuisine at a reasonable price for what you get. Andrew Deery's talents include both quality and presentation--every dish looked beautiful and tasted better!
Highly rated by Philly food critic we returned after a 10 year hiatus only to find a little place in Phoenixville on par with some of the best. We had a tasting menu that included octopus, sweetbreads, sous vide pork shoulder, all done with flair and flavor. Will not wait another 10 before returning.
Majolica is still the best restaurant in Phoenixville. It has consistently excellent food and service. The little amuse-bouches (tuna tartare on a home-made potato chip and the spicy butternut soup served in a champagne glass) were memorable. The rabbit stew was served in an amazing sauce and my halibut was outstanding. And what is not to love about Earl Grey ice cream with lemon curd and a delicate cookie? We are planning to try the tasting menu very soon.
The menu may appear a little limited--there are only five or six dishes to choose from in each of the evening's three courses--but the emphasis here is on quality. From the homemade rosemary focaccia through to the chocolate souffle, each dish is deliciously prepared and artfully presented. The ambiance is low-key, which suits the tasteful decor and the candle-lit mood. BYOB and enjoy the finest dining Phoenixville has to offer.
As always an excellent dining experience! Delicious apps - frog legs, endive/pear salad and white corn soup (would have loved a touch of fresh ground black pepper on this to bring it up to the next level). Entrees did not disappoint - crispy durmond , seafood cioppinio and rabbit pappardelle. All outstanding and delicious. Ordered the chocolate souffle - delightful as always despite it being a bit on the dry side- would have pulled it from the oven 2 minutes earlier. Miss the creme anglaise for the souffle - sea salt caramel ice cream was nice but LOVED it more when it melted inside the souffle - suggest serving it melted like the creme anglaise! Spiced donuts and coffee cardomom pots de creme were outstanding! Favorite umami moment of the night - the melon sorbet with crispy proscutto and cinnamon oil - WOW! Thanks for a fantastic 55th birthday celebration <3
We were a bit underwhelmed with everything. The service was very good. The food did not seem very inspired. It was good, but nothing that blew us away, and made us say we have to return. The endive salad seemed lazy & bland (taste & color-presentation). The corn soup was probably the highlight of the night. A winner for both of us! The swordfish was defenitly a dish not to remember. I think 10 years ago the deconstructed presentation on a cutting-board was all the rage. 2017? Seen it.... Ate it.
Disappointing experience. Quality of food is very variable from visit to visit, and tonight things were quite average. Pace of arrival of our selections was off as appetizers arrived too early (we had barely taken a few bites of the bread) and entrees arrived only after an excessive delay. We were packed up and clearly ready to leave, but still had to wait a while for someone to notice and bring our check. We have had really quite memorable food there on other occasions, which makes nights like tonight all the more disappointing.
Hadn't been to Majolica I a while- heard it was always booked. But got a reservation for a weekday easily. The food is amazing. The different flavors go so well together. Every dish was unique. Love that it is BYOB. Have already arranged for another dinner with friends soon.
My husband and I decided on a whim to have "date night" and were able to get a table at Majolica. WOW...so glad we did! My husband enjoyed oysters to start and loved his entree - soft shell crab BLT while I thoroughly enjoyed my swordfish! We shared hot and delicious donuts for dessert. Majolica is definitely on our "go to" list of local restaurants!!!
Majolica is by far my favorite restaurant. I never order from the menu, I always splurge on the tasting menu. Chef Andrew is brilliant, his food is always inspired, and I never make requests - I trust him completely to make the meal perfect. I brought my parents, which required gluten free accommodations, as my dad has celiac disease. They didn't miss a beat, and asked many questions to ensure that there was no confusion or contamination. Dad said that the chocolate souffle was the best dessert that he has had - hands down - since his diagnosis over a decade ago. Majolica is the perfect place to bring your guests, no matter the dietary limitations.
We have been dining at Majolica since it opened more than ten years ago . The quality of the food is unparalleled in the Phoenixville are. The menu changes from week to week which is good for regular customers . Chef Andrew is always providing extra courses free of charge that are not always on the menu. The kitchen and dining room staff are professional and knowledgeable.
Majolica is our go to place for every day dining as well as special occasions.
It has been a few years since our last visit. We left the restaurant asking ourselves why we hadn't been back sooner. The menu had so many great options. The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. We look forward to our next visit, so many things on the menu to try.
We liked Majolica since the first time we dined there. The tasting menu was quie a unique experience, very creative and different than any other restaurant in the area. We also appreciated the great service and the cozy environment. We recommend to everyone, especially the foodies. We actually have been taking our friends & family there whenevere we have the chance. Thank you Majolica.
