Majolica Ratings and Reviews
After moving to the area from the city, we were worried that we wouldn't be able to enjoy the same quality of restaurants that we were able to in the city. This restaurant put those worries to rest. We loved everything about it. We will be back again and again!
Majolica is one of the top culinary destinations in the Phila metro area. It has also been one of the most consistent the past few years. A delightful and incredibly personal gem is a great spot and at incredible value. I highly recommend their tasting menu to allow Chef Deary to shine!
I have not been to Majolica for quite some time. What a shame! This is a little gem not far from my home. The meal was delicious with many creative options to select. The service was friendly and efficient without being rushed. The entire meal was lovely. We will absolutely return - soon!
The food and service was amazing. I had the garlic soup with escargot and the risotto. Both full of flavor and dishes I would happily eat again. Overall we had a really nice evening. The woman seated at the table next to me was a bit loud so she made it a less relaxing atmosphere than I would have liked, and if I were going to be really picky I would have liked if they dimmed the lights more just so the night could feel a bit more elegant. But I loved our server – she was just the right amount of knowledgable, fun and attentive. The pace of the meal was also perfect. And the gentleman pouring wine seemed to always know when I was getting low. This was my second visit and I will definitely be back for a third.
We love this BYO restaurant. You can always expect a delicious fine dining meal so make sure you bring a special vintage to enjoy with it. Service was attentive and friendly. Love the Octopus starter and the Duck Cassoulet. It came out piping hot which is refreshing considering so many restaurants bring out lukewarm food. We went early as we understand, public parking can be a problem in Phoenixville. You won't be disappointed.
Majolica remains one of the best restaurants in the Philly area. Chef/owner Andrew & his team are the best. House-made sorbets, bread, pastas, all the details that spell GOURMET!
The food is interesting without being over the top. Each ingredient is there to add to the taste not to be trendy. Example: Grilled octopus with feta and garbanzo beans--it works so well its been on the menu for years. Sweetbreads are weird--not here--they sing. The pasta is fresh and no matter what's in the sauce, it's great (a standard is the rabbit ragout). The fish are treated gently and you always taste the fish with sauce as a complement. If Bouillabaisse is on the menu, order it. The Cassoulet with duck is also a standard (perfect for cold winter nights). And the treatment of veal, short ribs or steak are all exceptional.
Dessert: beignets with pot de creme!! just do it!
The service is professional and efficient, personal and friendly but not intrusive. If you want to chat, they're ready to talk, subject to call from other diners; if you want to focus on conversation with your dinner partner, they'll stay out of the way except to serve.
The space wraps around the semi-open kitchen so the largest space is in the front, there's a more private space in back and my preferred tables are those next to the kitchen so you can watch the action.
In 2009 I chose Phoenixville as a place to live because of my first meal at Majolica. Now I live in Philly and I'm always looking for a reason to return to Majolica.

Had reserved a back table and we waited. Ended up by the swinging doors to the kitchen. The back tables weren't ready. Bread was amazing; think they should have come around to ask if we want another slice. I had cod in a creamy sauce with bacon and chopped potatoes.. Wasn't particularly hot and I was surprised it did not come with any green accompaniment. Was heavy and I would have appreciated something crunchy and healthy with it. Looked bland and all white; not decorative or appealing. Desserts were very good.
Excellent visit for my birthday. Staff was super attentive and the food was outstanding on all accounts. You never feel rushed here and the noise level is nicely quiet so you can actually have conversations. Tables are nicely spaced also so you don't feel on top of each other.
Very delicious! Love a small menu with interesting dishes. We had sardines which were simple and tasty. The octopus and chickpea salad was outstanding.... I could have had another for my main course. Hubby had the pork and lentils and I had the seafood and chorizo.... both were fantastic. Service was excellent and professional.
Totally enjoyed the "Taster Menu" which was creative and fun, not knowing what the chef will choose for your next course. We tasted new food which we would not normally order on the regular menu and the food was delicious. Cheryl, our server, explained what each course was and she was knowledgeable, friendly, and provided great service for our table. We celebrated a milestone birthday and it was relaxing and FUN.
Majolica was good...I just really wanted to like it more. When I saw the menu, there wasn't a thing I wouldn't have ordered. The first and second course decisions were really tough. My wife's squid ink pasta was excellent. My duck cassoulet tasted decent...I just couldn't realistically eat it for 10 minutes. It came out scalding...and didn't cool off. We ate my wife's meal together while mine cooled...but even then it still was hot enough to burn the roof of my mouth. The service was fine...I felt like we could have been checked on a bit more and we seemed to wait a bit longer than I would have liked for our food. The waitress poured tap water over an already full glass of sparkling...which, I understand that mistakes happen, but a new bottle of sparkling should have been opened instead of us having to drink tap because of her mistake. If they clean up a few things, this could be a city-quality suburban restaurant. Maybe take a few things off the menu and nail the remaining items...and concentrate on the service a bit more.
We celebrated a significant birthday with the 6 course tasting menu. The food was excellent (the birthday girl is a trained gourmet chef and was very pleased with the food selection, preparation and presentation). The waiter was very attentive and helpful. We definitely recommend the oysters, squash soup, duck confit cassoulet, sweetbreads, and the cod. We'll be back!
Excellent restaurant! The menu items are adventurous and I had a guest who is "basic meat and potatoes" at heart but even he concluded he had one of the best meals ever. Just ask questions and you'll find what appeals. All four of our meals were truly excellent with interesting flair you can find in few restaurants in the suburbs. And, it's BYOB. The restaurant is a bit pricey but well worth it and BYOB keeps the bill manageable. Our servers worked as a team and were ever present. At times, this made me feel a bit rushed. The website sets an expecatation that you must leave within two hours. This was impossible given that we had a cheese course in addition to a salad and dessert- even with a wait staff that constantly cleared plates the moment you ate your last bite.
As usual Andrew’s tasting menu was superb. We were served many new dishes including rabbit stew on homemade papardelle.
Butternut squash soup with lobster was creamy, many flavor layered and delicious. Perfectly Seared scallops served in potato leek chowder also amazing. Unusual beet salad with smoked tongue was a winner. Melon sorbet with crisped prosciutto was a lovely intermezzo. The five of us were served. 5 different deserts, one better than the next. This meal was well worth our trip from Florida.
We have been in this restaurant before and return occasionally for its exceptional, creative and tasty food served by attentive, friendly servers in a pleasant somewhat cozy atmosphere. Some intermittent surprise bites between courses only add to the pleasure. Highly recommend to anyone who has not been there or does not go too frequently since menu changes only rarely, if ever.
Hubby and I had outstanding foccacia, amuse bouche and intermezzo. Cheese course was wonderful. Hubby had lovely soup, I had rabbit ragout on tagliatelle that was great. Hubby had risotto that was good. The only course I didn't care for was a beet and beef salad. Will definitely be back. It was a slower Sunday night with only one wait person for the entire place. She was fabulous because we didn't feel left alone - her attention was just right.
The food and service are exceptional. It's a small place and it can get a little loud. Lot's of nice personal touches when you dine here. Both times that I have been here you get a chef snack sent to the table which add's to the enjoyment. The menu is a little heavy on seafood / fish options which may deter some.
Excellent BYOB with interesting and constantly changing menu. This time I ordered the grilled Octopus, which was perfectly charred but still tender and flavorful. Entree was Rabbit Ragout served over house-made Pappardelle.....outstanding. My wife ordered the Autumn Squash soup, followed by the Duck cassoulet, a rich hearty meal for a cold autumn evening. Followed the meal with the cheese board, showing a variety of locally produced cheeses. Would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates fine food.
