Third visit and third time thoroughly enjoying the experience. Classic French bistro fare, gorgeous renovated mansion and attentive service. Highly recommended.
What a cute and charming dining experience. Do not leave without having the foie gras and the Escargot. We are visiting town from Las Vegas and had a wonderful time. Thank you so much. :)
Our meals were excellent, the service was superb, and the ambience, comfortable and classic.
We'll be back.
Had a nice, attentive server named Cherry. Excellent service. Had the tasting menu. Four out of five dishes were spectacular! Seating was a little close together for a fine dining restaurant.
It was superb! Our new favourite O&B restaurant - already looking forward to next time.
Really hit the spot. Would only order one French onion soup next time around (two was a bit much for my tummy).
The place is pretty, the food was delicious, the service was attentive and kind. The loud music was a turnoff. It made the lux cozy atmosphere feel more like a pub. At least the walls weren’t marred with huge flat screened TVs; that was a plus. However, the pop tunes had me looking around for dart boards. A quiet backdrop of classical musical would better suit the grand old dame.
Not as upscale as its counterparts like Auberge du Pommier. Trendy crowd, casual plates, not the best French in the city by far. Very low light, hard to see and bright candle right in the eyeline of the person across from you, not a great place for this. Recommend steak frites or mussels. Good vibe for Saturday, try to sit in one of the front rooms.
Generally very good. I found the sound a little too high and the lights a little too low. Also removing a couple of the small tables would open up a slightly more space for the patrons. We could hear everything the couple next to us were saying and it wasn’t due to them being loud. Overall I enjoyed it and will both go back and recommend it to friends.
Service was impeccable - very prompt, efficient, great personalities! Food was good but not outstanding. The creme brulee I have to note was fantastic! It's a place to check out for sure but I wouldn't frequent here. This venue does book for events - it would be a great space for a wedding - very charming and romantic.
Reallly like Maison Selby, but it’s just a touch pricey for more frequent visits. The happy hour hours are a little awkward.
Fantastic birthday lunch!
Awesome as usual, the French onion soup is delicious and the steak tartare divine. And seeing as it was a Wednesday night 1/2 price wine by the bottle ! Can’t wait to go back. I thought the $3 per person cake cutting fee ( as I brought my own birthday cake) was a bit much though, but they did present it very nicely on the plates
I have been a few times and the food is delicious. Went with a friend to try out Half Priced Wine Wednesday and dinner. Was disappointed to see that half priced bottles were the same price (if not more expensive) comparatively to other restaurants in Rosedale/Cabbagetown. Most affordable bottle at half price started at $41 before tax? Womp Womp. Worth the ambiance and food. But poor value esp. on a wine special. Not worth it.
We went for brunch and I was looking forward to a bowl of French onion soup...but it’s not on the brunch menu!!!
Needless to say I was disappointed.
The waitress said that because it’s brunch they don’t offer the soup, however I could have a burger or steak.
Now does that make sense.
Obviously I was not pleased.
I did default to the Benny and it was good but I was still pining for that French onion soup.
The food was really good (everyone loved their order), but our server was behind/forgetful. Some had ordered coffees and others did not and the wrong drinks were brought out. Then we watched two other tables who arrived and placed their orders after us get served first. I think that our server forgot to punch our food order as the wait was unreasonably long given that the others were already eating (even the same items we ordered). The space is beautiful especially the bar, and they didn't rush us. But then the service there was also extremely slow so go knowing that you may have a long wait ahead.
I have already recommended it. But they try to sit 4 people around a tiny table. Doesn’t work. We moved to 2 tables pushed together in a quieter room. They were very obliging.
The service is beyond outstanding. Management and staff went over and above for my daughter’s birthday celebration.
Thought the food was mediocre. Was disappointed
French onion soup bowl was only half full. Daily soup was tasty but was lukewarm. Main dish was good but not great.
We had a delicious meal. We were well taken care of.
Everything was outstanding!
Just great. Nice cozy space in a part of town not known for this, so you're forced to discover something new.
I have been for brunch on 2 occasions now, food has been excellent both times. Servers are friendly and attentive. Drinks seem to take longer than they should - we ordered mimosas at the same time as ordering our meal yet the food managed to arrive a few minutes before the drinks. The decor is beautiful as well!
Maison Selby has done an excellent job online of portraying a version of themselves that they did not remotely live up to. We waited 20 minutes upon being seated to have our drink order taken, it was another 10 minutes for the cocktails to arrive. Of note, we didn’t even see our own waiter until moments after our cocktails arrived, asking to take our dinner order without offering up what the specials were. Service remained this “oblivious” for the remainder of our meal, save for one gentleman (manager perhaps?) that we managed to flag down anytime we needed something.
The food was good, nothing exceptional. Typically we would have considered ordering oysters, etc to share, but decided against it because the table was tiny: felt like 4 of us were seated at a table sized for 2. Cocktails were average, if that.
We expected a cozier atmosphere given the space, but overall the restaurant does not live up to its potential. Won’t be back.
A very cozy ambiance, sitting in one of the front rooms...the food was delicious, especially the beef bourguignon! The wine pairing recommendation was appreciated and the cheese plate for dessert was a perfect ending.
Love the atmosphere -- and that French Onion Soup …. simply the best! We'll return often for the cocktails, and can easily enjoy a laid-back lunch or a sophisticated dinner.
A lovely surprise. Food was excellent. Service wasn't quite up to the calibre of the food and the environment, but still very pleasant.
Been twice before and gave it a 5 star rating across the board. This time the waiter was inattentive, food was mildly warm and the room noise level was very high. Disappointed.
Had a great time. My guests loved the food and ambience. The service was impeccable.
Had to move to front room since noise was bad. It was better but still loud since no carpet, table covering etc. to dampen the noise. The service was not good and we had to wrestle down our server for service. The food was very good but the overall experience average.
Amazing service. Food was delicious! Olivia was a wonderful server and made the evening great!
The food is always delicious and we had an excellent server who gave great recommendations throughout the night.
Great brunch, not too busy on thanksgiving weekend.
The service at Maison Selby is above par. However the brunch menu is a bit tired. Would love to see French toast with maple syrup or soft scrambled gags with truffle.
The French onion soup is outstanding and filling. Everything we ordered was good. The service was attentive. It was quite loud and the tables are close together so having privacy is out is the window. All in all, a nice restaurant.
This was my second visit and while the food and ambience is lovely, I had ordered a bottle of French rose( which I thought was the only rose as it was the only one listed on the page I was looking at) and the server sought no further clarification. The bottle I chose was $58 and when we received the bill, we were charged $80 for a different bottle of French rose. As we had ordered two bottles, the differential was $44 and even though the server did not tell us there was a different rose on another page, the Manager did nothing for us. Very disappointing given that this was a server issue. Will not be going back.
Waitress was nice, food were good. Although it was expensive, worth it
I really appreciate Chef waiting for us to arrive. Our server Rabbie was vedry attentive and professional. We were impressed with ALL the staff. The Oysters, Caviar, everything was wonderful. Thank you and we will be back soon !
Very noisy. Tables too small. Food is average and not creative. Service is ambivalent. Wine stock a problem. It needs to step it up a notch. It is O&B but don’t think Auberge or Canoe. This is way down market from that.
