Introducing an ongoing tasting experience at Maison Healdsburg, The Wine Rapport, where we invite you to sit down with us and blind taste our favorite wines from California against some close analogs from Europe. We’ll talk through the wines, including ways to tell the difference between California wines and European, and what makes them unique. Our goal isn’t to sort out which wine is better, but rather to explore the nuances between them, and to find the common ground between some of the greatest wines in the world, which is exactly where we would humbly place the wines of the Sonoma Coast. We’ll go in-depth on the styles of wine we expect from their respective neighborhoods and teach you a bit about what makes them taste the way they do. Of course, perhaps most importantly, we’ll see which wines suit your palate prior to the reveal. We think some Old World wine lovers might be surprised which wines they prefer when tasting blind.
