About Maison Boulud
Maison Boulud Montréal offers the cuisine of a chef steeped in French tradition, yet inspired by decades spent cooking in New York City.
Daniel Boulud's menu is driven by the seasons and bounty of Québec's local purveyors. The result: refined yet soulful contemporary French food, prepared here by Executive Chef Riccardo Bertolino.
While situated in the Ritz-Carlton Montreal, the restaurant, its bar & lounge and two private dining rooms have a vibrant identity all their own. Maison Boulud enjoys a view over the historic hotel garden and year round glass enclosed winter garden. Daniel Boulud's welcoming spirit, the casually elegant tone and glimpses of a partly open kitchen keep the focus on the cuisine, making this a daily gathering place for wonderful food.

Maison Boulud Ratings and Reviews
What a great experience from start to finish. Appetizer was in-house sardines with a mixture of vegetables on brown bread. It was a juxtaposition of textures and flavours. Mains were lobster with gnocchi and curry halibut. The two mains were simply amazing. The flavours exploded in your mouth. The halibut was so perfectly cooked it melted in your mouth. The wine sommelier made a great recommendation of a Loire wine to go with the food. The service was outstanding. The sommelier in particular was so friendly and helpful. The after-dinner treats were a perfect ending to a great meal. We can't wait to go back.
This was a spur-of-the-moment decision. We were on a business trip in Montreal and after a rather successful day, we wanted to splurge a bit. And splurging we did! We went for the 7-course surprise dinner and it was spectacular. The food was imaginative, portions were just right, the taste was indescribably good and the pace of the different courses was excellently spaced. For myself, I also had the Cosmo (with a flower frozen in a round ice cube) and it was very delicious. All in all, it was an experience well worth the amount of money spent.
Three of us met for an evening with meal. We were given a corner table, excellent service and allowed to talk, eat, and enjoy ourselves over 3.5 hours. Wine selection is good if a touch on the expensive side, the food is excellent and again a bit expensive. Service was superb. Well worth a visit.
Superb experience. Food was incredible, with perfect service for a great moment. Nothing to complain, just A1 comments to provide to everyone that wishes to have a great food adventure. Their wine/alcohol pairings were so accurate and original. I absolutely recommend it to everyone that can afford this kind of bill though, which is expensive but worth it. Don't miss the tasting menu !
We came to Montreal on vacation and were very much looking forward to this dining experience. All of the staff seemed very professional and well trained. The fois gras starter, two different fish entrees (Saint-Pierre and Turbot), madeleine dessert, and complimentary dessert were all delicious. They are leagues better than the heavily salt-laden food (which is standard seasoning) in most restaurants from our home base of Manhattan. The jasmine tea was quite good, but not brewed from whole leaves, and not nearly as good as tea brewed from jasmine “pearls” (wrapped whole leaves) that have been scented 7 or more times. That is merely an observation, rather than a criticism, coming from a tea aficionado. It is very understandable as their usual clientele are unlikely to be particular about tea. The atmosphere was very relaxing, but I personally think that light jazz, maybe a three piece ensemble, would suit the atmosphere better. All in all, this is one of my favorite restaurants now.
We were staying at the Ritz-Carlton for the weekend and told the restaurant that we were celebrating our 25th anniversary. The good: we were seated at a large four-top table next to the open-air garden (it was an unseasonably warm night). The bad: everything else. It was suprising to see the ubiquitous Chilewich placemats at a restaurant charging Michelin star, Manhattan prices. We ordered a bottle of wine and the som poured himself an extraordinarily generous taste. (A table of four next to us complained when he did the same to their bottle--we said nothing.) My husband and I don't have food allergies, but we share a strong dislike of hazelnuts. I very politely asked the waitress if we could omit them from the foie gras ( a very pricey special that night) and a kale salad. She said she would ask the kitchen. It took forever, but she came back with our apps-- minus the nuts--and told us that the chef was very surprised that we didn't like hazelnuts. I really didn't want or need to know the chef's opinion of our request--that should have never left the kitchen. Things continued to spiral downard as we waited forever for our entrees. The couple adjacent to us also was waiting an extraordinarily long time, but their waiter came over and apologized profusely. Our server was nowhere to be found. At 9:15--almost two hours after our 7:30 seating--the entrees appeared without comment. The server never bothered to ask about the food or if we needed anything. When we finally got her attention, we asked for the check while we were still eating. A very expensive disappointment.
Always excellent! A MUST if you want to treat yourself to something very special. The food is exquisite, the service very professionally, the atmosphere - perfect.
We were celebrating a friend's anniversary and everyone was delighted with the experience...we will return for sure.
The service and food was subpar in comparison to the expectation of a Ritz Carlton related restaurant. The cocktails are delivered at 60% volume and should one ask for the drink to be topped off, the answer one apparently should expect is "everything is measured and that's the way they come". We live in Manhattan and dine out frequently - this restaurant's star rating should be reevaluated. The food was delivered incorrectly and the quality was not at the expected level. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THIS RESTAURANT.
One of the most memorable meals of my life! The cocktail was unusual and a feast for the eyes. The som was knowledgeable, and despite a very pricey list, helped us find a great bottle that suited our menu choices. I selected the seared Foie Gras as a starter. It was perfectly prepared and served. We both selected the John Dory as an entree, and it was an amazing preparation. The photo below does not do justice to it. Service was superb. Tables were spaced nicely, and not on top of one another. I highly recommend that you try Maison Boulud
Food service was fine, but it was quite odd to be pouring wine for ourselves in a restaurant that employed ample staff and is meant to have exemplary service (our glasses sat empty for a good while before my mother unceremoniously picked up the bottle 😀 ). Another oddity was to be sitting over our hot food waiting for the waiter to repeat the names of the dishes we’d ordered, which felt pretty long given that there were seven of us.
Food quality especially main course of fish very disappointing. For a dinner costing more than $280, the food value/price including service, was very disappointing compared to when this restaurant first opened. If you are not a VIP client of the Ritz, dont expect much.
Maison Bouloud is a celebrated restaurant with excellent food, service, and atmosphere. All of our entrees were quite good as were the starter and shared dishes. The service was exceptional and the somnalier was very helpful. We dined in the garden area which enhanced our experience. However, this is a very expensive restaurant and a bit overpriced. Nevertheless, it was a very enjoyable experience.
This place was amazing. The food and service were impeccable. Antonin, my server was attentive throughout my entire meal. I would definitely come back again.
I found the garden dining area slightly on the noisy side for a high end restaurant but it didn't detract from the overall experience.
