In all my years of dining there are few places where I am impressed with the staff. This is one of those places where I was thoroughly impressed. They constantly communicated what was happening from the time you got in to the time you left. We did not wait long for a table, but for people that had to wait they constantly communicated to make sure they knew what was going on. They ran out of Bloody Mary mix and instead of letting me wait they made sure I was aware that it would take a little longer then usual. I never seen any of the staff members standing around and not helping with ensuring that customers were taken care off. Extremely impressed!
I do not recommend this place.
Everything is just a mess, the kitchen, the waiters.... you have to ask everything 3 to 5 times and even doing so you are not getting it. I am dining out a lot and this the worst experience ever.
I will definitely not go back or recommend it either.
such a shame since the location and the place is pretty just so disorganized at all levels.
Delicious food and a good experience. Prices seemed a little disproportionately high compared to the rest of the experience, though.
If only the service matched the great quality of food and drinks. While pleasant when we did manage to talk to our waiter, it was less than ideal to see our drinks wait on a bar for 10 min while we waited for the waiter to finish a conversation with another waiter, or to watch our food sit on the kitchen counter for 15 min while we waited for him to check on the kitchen status.
We were there a night when they had live music with Eric Wortham. I’d recommend going any night he’s performing. To my surprise, I also had the best hamburger I’ve ever eaten as well. Nice atmosphere. Great service from DJ!
Service was terrible and took us more than 2 hours, and steak was rubbery when it came out.
We liked the restaurant but felt many of the dishes had too much salt yet lacked enough other seasoning and spices to make it really tasty.
Our waiter was very good.
I had made a reservation for 1:30 PM, and when I arrived, they did not have a table ready. We waited at the bar and they said they would get us the next available table. After some waiting, I saw a table open and had to ask another server if we could sit there since we had been waiting for at least 30 minutes. We were not given the next available table. We ordered a side of fries, and the waiter came to us saying that the fryer was broken. Also, there was a man in the kitchen area who was dealing with the food that was eating. I was very disappointed with my first experience here.
This place is very surprising. The food was excellent along with the service.
The "Social Hour" (read Happy Hour), available only at the bar, offers a chance to put together a nice little meal at a reasonable cost.
We had a great night at Maison 208. Good food, excellent service and nice ambience. The live music upstairs was outstanding.
The limited menu seems to be well prepared. The cod was perfectly cooked and tasty. The soup was nice, though small. Service was fine. I'd skip dessert.
Such bad food, my husband and I felt sick afterwards! The service was okay, but not particularly attentive. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Food was great, prices reasonable. The restaurant was loud and the service was slow.
Good food, different set up for the tables and very noisy
Great food, great drinks. Location is superb and service was amazing.
Best service that we had in Philly!!
I visited Maison 208 with my husband and parents before a show at the Walnut Street Theater, which is about 4 blocks away. Our reservation was for 6PM on a Saturday and the place was relatively empty when we arrived, but very quickly was buzzing with happy people out for the night. "Social hour" drink specials were in effect until 7PM (even on Saturday) which was great! The food was good and everyone found something they liked. The service was really good up until the very end. We ended up waiting a long time for dessert and the check, which was especially frustrating because we had to catch a show! I would recommend to a friend looking for a casual dinner.
Service was a little slow and food was just ok. They had a live band playing upstairs which got a little loud but we ended up going up there after dinner, watching the band and having a nice time.
Great food and service. The scallop tartare and kale salad were amazing
White roasted Cauliflower was my favorite. I went yesterday during restaurant week. The ambience and atmosphere did set the mood for a great dinner. Our server very professional and catered to all of our needs.
The good. The service was professional and attentive. The bad. The entrees were mediocre. The tuna tartare with somewhat fishy. The desserts were far too sweet. However the entrees were cooked appropriately. We had the fish in the salmon. Nothing amazing nothing creative just meh.
Great service. Good food. Cold - the door was left open multiple times by guests and no one closed it.
We had dinner reservations for 7 :15 on a Saturday night. Note: they also do Happy Hour on Saturday night, which most restaurants do not do. It was rather quiet when we arrived. We went to the beautiful bar area on the second floor for happy hour before dinner & were told by the friendly bartender that live music begins at 10PM and they get a crowd later in the evening. Never having been there before we were a little concerned when it seemed rather empty. Our concerns were quickly relieved. The food was excellent. We ordered several small plates, each one was fantastic. We were told by a parton at the bar that during the summer months the upstairs bar area opens up to become an outside, open bar which we plan to return to enjoy.
Very nice place with great service. With one exception, the food was delicious. I'm just not that into de-constructed desserts... Give me regular cake anytime !
Scallops overpriced, too fishy smelling ,and butternut puree way too spicy.
Waiter was very nice and accommodating. Food was good. Music was loud, it’s a French restaurant, not a club.
Maison 208 is fine for happy hour or drinks and snacks, but don't bother for dinner. The food was good, but the portions didn't really work out to a dinner (it is small plate focused, but it seemed more workable for drinks and snacks than dinner). The beer and wine list are definitely thin -- just not the number of choices that you would expect for a dinner place. I had high hopes, but left thinking meh, it won't last given all the terrific dinner options in that part of town.
Food was delicious, and the staff was very friendly and professional. They surprised us with a special dessert for our anniversary. They always know how to make the experience unique and delicious!
Ok food - good service
One entree came out way undercooked (fish). Restaurant was quite empty. Never dined here before. Waiter was great but restaurant underwhelmed is. Won’t be back soon - too many other better restaurants in Philadelphia.
Good service, very nice ambience but food leaves a lot to be desired. Portion sizes are decent but the items on the menu do not seem to justify the high price. Almost zero vegetarian options but the chef was nice enough to fix me a great pasta.
Awesome time and great service!! Highly recommend!
Pork belly could have been more seared. Pork chops needed more flavor. Drinks are good
A nice looking, comfortable space. Food was imaginative and tasty. Pulled pork on a Baguette with a fried egg was a winner. However, the coffee was horrible, worse than what you'd get at a diner, and their tea selection was extremely limited. Plus, the music was way too loud. I wouldn't go back, but the place was packed with Millennials, who seemed to love it.
Hi, well I had a very mixed experience. The service was very polite but extremely slow. While we were waiting we each had a cocktail at the bar and they were good. The food was good, I had salmon and my husband had lamb. I don't like lamb personally but I thought the salmon was very good and we had a salad before hand which was delicious. Both the salad and entrees seemed appropriately priced. The taro & Kobe beef lollipop was not special. It took. forever to get simple things like water and the waiter was going to bring a wine list, but he never found one. We had a bottle of champagne which was good but was priced at three or four times the cost. When he delivered the champagne, he said he was going to brink a cooler for it which took quite a long time and I ended up reminding him after we had already drank our first glass of champagne. After dinner my husband had dessert and we both had double shots of espresso. Honestly I was shocked to pay $9 for a double shot of espresso. I had asked for a lemon peel with it and they gave me a wedge of lemon.
So anyway cannot say I will be back anytime soon, they have work to do.
Good food and drinks. But service took way too long. And our drinks were empty before our server came back to check on us. We were hungry and table next to us sat after us but received their food before us.
My second visit after a several month break. Very disappointing. My fish, Bronzino which had been delicious on my previous visit was heavily coated and fried. The bottom was baked on so hard that I had difficulty cutting through the fish. Because it was so heavily coated I did not recognize that I was eating the head, eyes and all. The lower half of the fish (which I ate the next night) was better, at least I could taste the actual fish. My partner ordered the scallops and received two, very little for the main dish.
We will probably not return. Happy hour drinks were well priced. The waiter was very helpful and gracious.
Zero complaints about the food! Bottomless Mimosas were a tad pricey compared to where I've gone in the past but, I think the prices were so high because Maison is in the city. Our server kept going missing which was a tad annoying. We waited over 15 minutes for water while looking over the menus. Considering the restaurant wasn't at full capacity and we had 5 in our party I felt like we were always waiting for something to come to our table. Espressos took 10 minutes, extra sugar packets took another 10 minutes, just a lot of waiting. Our server was always kind and we had no issue with his tableside manner.
I will return, maybe not for brunch again since it was so expensive. I've heard good things about their happy hours and I want to check them out soon.
The interior was gorgeous and I love when their foldable windows are open to the street.
Was a five star but now a three at best. Crappy service (and there weren’t busy) with watery salads. The waiter told US the check was coming as he cleared our dinner plates.
