Main & Mill Oyster Bar & Tavern
My wife and I have eaten at Main & Mill Oyster Bar & Tavern a few times. We brought our new neighbors with us this time and were pleased that they enjoyed the experience. The front-of-house and waitstaff were friendly, courteous, and helpful. The food was delicious--bruschetta, Main Burgers, crab cake sandwich, and ahi tuna special. The beer and wine selection was very nice, and everyone at our table found what they liked. We were very pleased with the social distancing and the fact that all of the employees were wearing masks. Tables were wiped down between customers. We definitely plan to dine at Main & Mill in the near future.
The oysters were so good and the service was great!
We are new to this restaurant and have been here twice over the holidays so far! Awesome crab dip, oysters and drinks! Servers and owner(?)/ hostess have been very friendly, efficient and attentive. The decor/ambiance is very rustic/warm and inviting. Looks like we have a new go to date night place!:)
Everything from service to food was EXCELLENT!
Great food and drinks. Fried oysters and fried green tomatoes were outstanding. Service was spot on. Thanks for a great date night dinner.
Service was excellent. Shrimp and grits a little heavy on the garlic for my taste but good!
We love Main and Mill. The food is always amazing and staff is friendly and courteous.
Kate, our server was outstanding. Value was great for quality and price paid!
The oysters were very good - we had 2 appetizers - Rockefeller and another one that I can't remember the name - the Filet was nicely seasoned and the shrimp and grits were well prepared. The bartender talented and the drinks were properly made - a little on the expensive side - but in line with most restaurants. John was our server and he just seemed to appear at just the right times without being intrusive to our meal. We were stuffed, didn't order dessert but overall, we were very pleased with our dining experience. We did have a small child running around the table next to us uncontrolled, but that seems to be the way of parenting these days.
We went to this restaurant for my birthday and had a wonderful time. The Crab Shack baked oysters were wonderful. Our meal along with service and ambience was perfect. I will definitely return.
Our second visit in the last month. The first visit was to sitting at the oyster bar enjoying a couple of pecks of steamed oysters and craft cocktails. While enjoying this experience, we were seated at the end of the oyster bar where the wait staff would walk by with food from the kitchen to deliver to the many dining patrons. I took noticed of several plates as the wait staff walked by. I determined then that the next visit would be soon and we would take advantage of the menu options. The second visit on 11-28-2020 was for a table for 4. I had made a reservation via OpenTable for 8:00 pm. At the time, all reservations between 5:00 and 8:00 were full. When we arrived, we were immediately seated an our server was prompt. Appetizer of crab dip and a wedge salad started off a great dining experience. Our party ordered fried shrimp (1 lb), 2 orders of shrimp tacos, and Shrimp & Grits. The food came out timely and was cooked perfectly. The shrimp and grits were delicious and the portion was hearty. Great atmosphere, food and service. I only deviation from a full 5 stars was due to the noise in the restaurant. It was a little loud but that is to be expected with hardwood floors, exposed brick walls, and low ceilings. I highly recommend and look forward to my next visit to Main and Mill!
Good food, good service. One of our favorite places to eat.
Great service and food!
This was our second time trying this place. First experience was just okay. But we thought we would give it another go. Second time not any better. Service was super slow. 30 minutes to get an appetizer and over an hour to get main course. The portion sizes were small and food was very undercooked. To top the experience off, it was freezing inside. We were seated in the section closest to the door in February. My wife had to wear her coat the entire time just to stay warm. There are plenty of other places to go in the area much nicer. We will not be returning.
Good food and good service. Little pricey for winterville but overall a good time.
Loved their Valentine Day special menu. The food and the service were both outstanding. We will definitely be returning again.
After seeing comments on slow service - it was clear they wanted to change that perception. Drinks and apps were out quickly - and staff were helping each other. Very good food and space. will be back again.
Thank you for coming and checking us out! Speeding up service has been at the top of our priorities, we want everyone to have a wonderful yet timely experience. We look forward to seeing you back, thanks again!
I enjoyed my dinner date at Main & Mill. The food was delicious and our waitress/server was friendly and helpful. She recommended popular dishes and her personal favorites. Service with our drinks & food was slow, but she helped to reassure great service throughout the evening. The oysters were amazing & I definitely recommended this restaurant to family & friends.
Food was great!!! Took awhile to get our order. There was a big party there is why. But I will definitely go back.
Kitchen seemed a little slow, but overall a great experience. With the addition of the breweries in Winterville, this will quickly become a go to for a great night out!
We usually LOVE this restaurant! It has been fantastic every time so far from service to food and everything in between. I normally would recommend it to everyone, but this time is a different story and I was not happy. It was busy, however, the service was expected to be better. Friday we had reservations for 4, our table was ready and everything. We ordered at 6:45pm, but did not get our food until almost an hour later. Of course I was the last one to get my plate, a few minutes after everyone else. After getting my food last, about a quarter of the way through my salmon, I noticed that it was in fact raw. The other people in my party agreed and told me to send it back. I realize some people may like it “rare” but I am not the person to want to eat a piece of raw salmon for dinner, unless it’s on sushi. I was already irritated that I had waited 45 minutes to an hour for my food, now I had to wait for them to cook it more while the rest of my party was enjoying their food. I appreciate the waiter as I realize it was not his fault, but he proceeded to have the cook get me a “fresh piece” which is fantastic, but everyone had finished eating by time I got my piece of salmon. By that time, my sides were cold, and every one else’s plates were being taken back. Who wants to eat then? Also, two people in my party got the baked Mac and cheese as a side which was SO GOOD last time, creamy and decadent. This time my best friend (this being her birthday dinner) stayed it was dry and tasted like it had been cooked for a while and just stuck in the warmer. I realize it was a busy night, but I will say I was not happy with this visit. We never asked for a discount of any sorts or anything like that, however, we did get a $2.50 discount for this. This was a nice gesture, but $2? Might as well have just kept the ticket the way it should be. My entire party was not happy as this was supposed to be an exciting celebration night with a good meal!
Went there on a Monday evening at 5:00 and got promptly seated. Server was terrific but food not so. Extremely overpriced and small portions. Tried the duck fat potatoes as an appetizer... for $9.50 we got a small plate that looked like the equivalent of one potato cut in cubes, fried and covered in some kind of herb that totally overpowered any flavor of possible duck fat. The entrees did not come with side dishes...they were listed separately at $4 each. Shrimp and grits was ok, nothing special, no sausage, tails left on the shrimp....$19. We also had the “Drunken Sailors”, 6 oysters baked with “tequila lime BBQ sauce” that tasted like brand X BBQ out of a bottle...$17
The restaurant is close to where we live so we felt it was worth trying one time but we are not likely to go back.
We had a great time. Ordered Long Island Ice Teas, the Pork Chop & the Duck. All were excellent! There was a steady flow of people but it was nice & quiet, perfect for a conversation.
The food was great. There was no wait time for our table. The only issue I had was the time it took for the server to come to our table. This was my fourth visit to the restaurant. All four times there has been a long wait for the server to great us and take the drink order. There seems to be a lack of communication between the servers and the hostess. Each time the server was not aware that they had someone at their table.
Food was bland
We visit Greenville, NC often to see family and enjoy a good meal at Main and Mill. Friends introduced us to this restaurant in Winterville and what a gem!
Amazing food, great service, beautiful decor, wonderful seasonal cocktails! The food was so rich and flavorful. Wish I had taken a photo of carmel apple martini and apple pie moscow miles we started evening with and the wonderful crab dip. Ended meal with white russian which was truly a dessert in a cup! You will not be disappointed in this choice!
Our first time eating at Main and Mill and it did not disappoint. Great menu with lots to choose from. The service was good as were the drinks. We hope to return when back in the area.
Love the new space and design. Cocktails, wine list and food choices were wonderful! We had raw, baked and fried oysters in addition to our various entrees. All were excellent! What make this place really standout would be to change the lighting as it is too bright!!
Appetizers were great, one of the main courses was excellent blackened catch of the day, second main the flounder was more ok but not really great, this time.
I thoroughly enjoyed the food; however, I am disappointed there was no way to reserve a spot at the Oyster Bar. Apparently, one has to calm on the phone to reserve a seat. We were still able to eat oysters and shrimp at the table, but it's an entirely different feel. I will probably return to the restaurant, but I'll make dang sure to call, especially I I want Shucked Oysters.
Main & Mill has been wonderful both times I have visited. The Cioppino, which is my favorite, is to die for. Service was outstanding.
We had great service & Alex was a great waiter. We will definitely be going back!
We took our 3 grandkids there for lunch after church. Not our best move. 2 adults and 3 kids 4 yrs and under and our bill was over $70 and that was with 3
Kids meals. The menu was very limited. One of the kids spilled his water in the table and floor. We cleaned up the water on the table and the water on the floor stayed there until we left so the kids had to step over it. Our waitress was otherwise very nice and helpful.
Great brunch menu and service! Loved the French toast and was glad you had Shrimp and Grits on the Brunch menu.
Wonderful food and outstanding service
Had a terrific dinner last night at Main and Mill! Scallops with chipotle cream sauce on linguini was outstanding, just the right amount of heat and spice. Lobster ravioli with shrimp - the special - delicious, as was the salmon. Prices are very reasonable given the high quality of ingredients and the chef’s fine execution. Wine prices are remarkably low. Anthony’s service was friendly and professional. This is a GREAT restaurant! Think Dickinson Avenue Public House but 20%+ less expensive.
It’s quite simple decor but food is good, especially if you love oysters, and service is very friendly.
Very disappointed with the owners decision to avoid us all evening. I believe he was only concerned in talking with someone he knew.
Really don’t know if we will go back which is unfortunate as we like to support our local businesses.
I will definitely be returning to Main & Mill Oyster Bar. Our server, Lucy, was an absolute delight. I ordered the Cioppino and was not disappointed. It was one of the best I have tasted in a long time. The menu offers something for everyone with seafood and daily catch specials, to hamburgers, po boys and southern cooking with a flair.
