Main & Mill Oyster Bar & Tavern
Great service and food!
This was our second time trying this place. First experience was just okay. But we thought we would give it another go. Second time not any better. Service was super slow. 30 minutes to get an appetizer and over an hour to get main course. The portion sizes were small and food was very undercooked. To top the experience off, it was freezing inside. We were seated in the section closest to the door in February. My wife had to wear her coat the entire time just to stay warm. There are plenty of other places to go in the area much nicer. We will not be returning.
Good food and good service. Little pricey for winterville but overall a good time.
Loved their Valentine Day special menu. The food and the service were both outstanding. We will definitely be returning again.
After seeing comments on slow service - it was clear they wanted to change that perception. Drinks and apps were out quickly - and staff were helping each other. Very good food and space. will be back again.
Thank you for coming and checking us out! Speeding up service has been at the top of our priorities, we want everyone to have a wonderful yet timely experience. We look forward to seeing you back, thanks again!
I enjoyed my dinner date at Main & Mill. The food was delicious and our waitress/server was friendly and helpful. She recommended popular dishes and her personal favorites. Service with our drinks & food was slow, but she helped to reassure great service throughout the evening. The oysters were amazing & I definitely recommended this restaurant to family & friends.
Food was great!!! Took awhile to get our order. There was a big party there is why. But I will definitely go back.
Kitchen seemed a little slow, but overall a great experience. With the addition of the breweries in Winterville, this will quickly become a go to for a great night out!
We usually LOVE this restaurant! It has been fantastic every time so far from service to food and everything in between. I normally would recommend it to everyone, but this time is a different story and I was not happy. It was busy, however, the service was expected to be better. Friday we had reservations for 4, our table was ready and everything. We ordered at 6:45pm, but did not get our food until almost an hour later. Of course I was the last one to get my plate, a few minutes after everyone else. After getting my food last, about a quarter of the way through my salmon, I noticed that it was in fact raw. The other people in my party agreed and told me to send it back. I realize some people may like it “rare” but I am not the person to want to eat a piece of raw salmon for dinner, unless it’s on sushi. I was already irritated that I had waited 45 minutes to an hour for my food, now I had to wait for them to cook it more while the rest of my party was enjoying their food. I appreciate the waiter as I realize it was not his fault, but he proceeded to have the cook get me a “fresh piece” which is fantastic, but everyone had finished eating by time I got my piece of salmon. By that time, my sides were cold, and every one else’s plates were being taken back. Who wants to eat then? Also, two people in my party got the baked Mac and cheese as a side which was SO GOOD last time, creamy and decadent. This time my best friend (this being her birthday dinner) stayed it was dry and tasted like it had been cooked for a while and just stuck in the warmer. I realize it was a busy night, but I will say I was not happy with this visit. We never asked for a discount of any sorts or anything like that, however, we did get a $2.50 discount for this. This was a nice gesture, but $2? Might as well have just kept the ticket the way it should be. My entire party was not happy as this was supposed to be an exciting celebration night with a good meal!
Went there on a Monday evening at 5:00 and got promptly seated. Server was terrific but food not so. Extremely overpriced and small portions. Tried the duck fat potatoes as an appetizer... for $9.50 we got a small plate that looked like the equivalent of one potato cut in cubes, fried and covered in some kind of herb that totally overpowered any flavor of possible duck fat. The entrees did not come with side dishes...they were listed separately at $4 each. Shrimp and grits was ok, nothing special, no sausage, tails left on the shrimp....$19. We also had the “Drunken Sailors”, 6 oysters baked with “tequila lime BBQ sauce” that tasted like brand X BBQ out of a bottle...$17
The restaurant is close to where we live so we felt it was worth trying one time but we are not likely to go back.
We had a great time. Ordered Long Island Ice Teas, the Pork Chop & the Duck. All were excellent! There was a steady flow of people but it was nice & quiet, perfect for a conversation.
The food was great. There was no wait time for our table. The only issue I had was the time it took for the server to come to our table. This was my fourth visit to the restaurant. All four times there has been a long wait for the server to great us and take the drink order. There seems to be a lack of communication between the servers and the hostess. Each time the server was not aware that they had someone at their table.
Food was bland
We visit Greenville, NC often to see family and enjoy a good meal at Main and Mill. Friends introduced us to this restaurant in Winterville and what a gem!
Amazing food, great service, beautiful decor, wonderful seasonal cocktails! The food was so rich and flavorful. Wish I had taken a photo of carmel apple martini and apple pie moscow miles we started evening with and the wonderful crab dip. Ended meal with white russian which was truly a dessert in a cup! You will not be disappointed in this choice!
Our first time eating at Main and Mill and it did not disappoint. Great menu with lots to choose from. The service was good as were the drinks. We hope to return when back in the area.
Love the new space and design. Cocktails, wine list and food choices were wonderful! We had raw, baked and fried oysters in addition to our various entrees. All were excellent! What make this place really standout would be to change the lighting as it is too bright!!
Appetizers were great, one of the main courses was excellent blackened catch of the day, second main the flounder was more ok but not really great, this time.
I thoroughly enjoyed the food; however, I am disappointed there was no way to reserve a spot at the Oyster Bar. Apparently, one has to calm on the phone to reserve a seat. We were still able to eat oysters and shrimp at the table, but it's an entirely different feel. I will probably return to the restaurant, but I'll make dang sure to call, especially I I want Shucked Oysters.
Main & Mill has been wonderful both times I have visited. The Cioppino, which is my favorite, is to die for. Service was outstanding.
We had great service & Alex was a great waiter. We will definitely be going back!
We took our 3 grandkids there for lunch after church. Not our best move. 2 adults and 3 kids 4 yrs and under and our bill was over $70 and that was with 3
Kids meals. The menu was very limited. One of the kids spilled his water in the table and floor. We cleaned up the water on the table and the water on the floor stayed there until we left so the kids had to step over it. Our waitress was otherwise very nice and helpful.
Great brunch menu and service! Loved the French toast and was glad you had Shrimp and Grits on the Brunch menu.
Wonderful food and outstanding service
Had a terrific dinner last night at Main and Mill! Scallops with chipotle cream sauce on linguini was outstanding, just the right amount of heat and spice. Lobster ravioli with shrimp - the special - delicious, as was the salmon. Prices are very reasonable given the high quality of ingredients and the chef’s fine execution. Wine prices are remarkably low. Anthony’s service was friendly and professional. This is a GREAT restaurant! Think Dickinson Avenue Public House but 20%+ less expensive.
It’s quite simple decor but food is good, especially if you love oysters, and service is very friendly.
Very disappointed with the owners decision to avoid us all evening. I believe he was only concerned in talking with someone he knew.
Really don’t know if we will go back which is unfortunate as we like to support our local businesses.
I will definitely be returning to Main & Mill Oyster Bar. Our server, Lucy, was an absolute delight. I ordered the Cioppino and was not disappointed. It was one of the best I have tasted in a long time. The menu offers something for everyone with seafood and daily catch specials, to hamburgers, po boys and southern cooking with a flair.
I love to eat out and enjoy all kinds of food. It was my best dining experience in the region.
We all enjoyed our first trip. Everything looks very nice. The service was great. Our table had the flounder, shrimp and grits, hamburger and roast duck. Everyone loved their dish. I had the roast duck just because I wanted to try something different. It was good but would not get it again. None of us could believe that your restaurant has no bread! Gotta have bread with a meal! We will be back to try other dishes and to eat oysters.
We went on a Friday night around 6:30, meeting friends. While our waitress was delightful, the service was slow from the bar and the kitchen. Food was mediocre and expensive, but the drinks were good. The makeover inside looks great. I will give it another try.
I had the shrimp and grits. I have to say it's by far been the best shrimp and grits I've had since I've had them in New Orleans. 2👍👍up!!
Great service as always abc amazing food
Great environment and great food. Will definitely be going back.
The food was excellent and it's a very nice restaurant the food was a little pricey.
We were pretty happy with everything, except how the lightly steamed oysters were presented, in a small white cereal type bowl. It was hard to get too excited about them. Except for that, very satisfied. The apple turnover with cinnamon and brown sugar was the bomb!
The food was absolutely amazing. We had steamed shrimp which is always good but also tried shrimp and grits. I highly recommend shrimp and grits. The grits were so fluffy and the spices were so perfectly married. Our server Destiny was very attentive and pleasant. Great experience and will be back.
Wonderful dinner, drinks and service!! We tried 3 appetizers and they were all amazing!! The entrees were fabulous! We will defiantly eat here again!!
Date night disappointment. Food was good, but overpriced (2 drinks, an oyster appetizer and 2 entrees over $100). Expensive mixed drinks with very little alcohol. Lights are way too bright. Could have ambience, but just doesn’t. Expected better. Overall disappointed, but our server was very pleasant.
Great preparation and service...this is a place to enjoy.
