Took my wife here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We did appreciate the berry meringue dessert our waiter treated us to without us ordering it, but getting handed the check immediately after the dessert came out without being asked if we wanted to order a coffee or after dinner drink was not expected. we actually went to the wine bar down the block for a cappuccino and chocolate mousse.
This time was a little disappointed. The wine was served in the wrong glass, the waiter did pay attention to the table we had to ask him to clean the dishes, dessert took to long to be served we asked for coffee and it never came.
Maiella is a “go to” restaurant because the food is absolutely delicious; the service is excellent and the waiters are personable and attentive; and the ambiance is relaxing and enjoyable. Great restaurant!
I loved the waiter and they did a fabulous job with the Fettuccini. It was a great birthday celebration for my daughter!
My family and I came here last night for a birthday dinner and were extremely disappointed with the service. The food was OK - my fish was ice cold and the desserts were pretty bland, but it really was the service that we had a hard time with. In total the meal took 3.5 hours when it should've been no more than 2. We ordered wine and soda and didn't receive anything for over 30 minutes. It took even longer to get a second drink, even after reminding the waiter numerous times.
It was also a birthday, and the waiter brought out a cake with candles that was "on him". Until it was listed on the bill, which we also waited over 30 minutes to get. There were two parties going on in the side rooms, so we tried to be understanding. But for the cost and the total time, I would never come back here. Very disappointing!
Definitely not a happy customer. Too many dishes that I would normally choose but didn't because it included Truffle. Waiter could barely answer questions for me about what I was attempting to order and food was not what it was hyped up to be. My creme brulee came out as if it was a pond under an icicle because the wait staff grabbed one of the ones that was for the next day to go into the fridge to set instead of one of the ones for that night which is mind boggling unless ur a complete moron.
Love Maiella, it is a very cool place. We finally got a table outside. Delicious food and attentive wait staff!!!
Nice ambience. Takes a while to get orders such as foods and drinks. False advertisement - Italian dining on the water. We sat outside surrounded by a fence. Definitely no view of the water.
We love Maiella. It's a wonderful addition to the neighborhood, and a worthy destination if you don't live nearby. The room is beautiful, with seating in different areas that afford a variety of settings for every need. The food is consistently excellent. Since we're gluten free, we love the gluten free pizza, clearly made with the highest quality ingredients. Not to mention the main courses which accommodate our diet...the dover sole, lamb chops, duck, risotto...there's alot to choose from.
Special mention goes to the staff. They go above and beyond to make us feel welcome, and well taken care of. Everyone we've encountered at Maiella truly understands the meaning of "customer service".
I'm already looking forward to our next meal there!
Staff Lacks attention to detail/training. Our water took almost 10 min to arrive. They would mix up, sparkling water with tap. Our drinks finally arrived after 15 min. Drinks were fair. Food was good, as usual.
Went here for my grandma’s bday. Easily accommodated by the staff. All the food were amazing, taste wise and presentation wise. I would definitely recommend the Fettuccini Maiella. Chill place, great view. Will definitely come back.
Anthony the Manager is great!
Friendliness of staff is impeccable!!
Fantastic service and food! Creative, delicious cuisine and attentive, friendly waitstaff. Wonderful ambience. Highly recommend.
A nice restaurant with Italian ambiance right behind the historic Pepsi Cola sign in LIC. The neighborhood provides for nice walks after dinner. Service was very attentive, menu is comprehensive, however, the food we’ve ordered, seefood, fish, shortribs, could have tasted better. But overall, it was a nice experience.
I live in the neighborhood and have eaten here several times. The food is great, but I can't say the same for the service. There's always a problem with service. On this last visit, the waiter screwed up our order, and we never got our first course. He eventually offered to bring it, but only after our main course had arrived. When we finished our meal, we tried to pay, but our waiter disappeared. Fifteen minutes later he explained that the credit card machine was down, so we had to wait. All in, we were held hostage for more than 30 minutes after we finished our meal, waiting to pay. The machine going down may not be their fault, but they handled it poorly, not keeping customers informed or offering coffee or a drink while we were stuck. I may eventually eat here again -- once I forget how bad the service is.
This is the second time I've been to Maiella because the first time was outstanding. Service and ambiance are fantastic, drinks were perfect, and all of the food was delicious. The ONE single disappointing item was a rather large one, which is what contributed to the lower score. The Bucatini, my main course, was so salty that it was inedible. I hope it was a one-off instance because from what I could tell, the flavor would have been lovely if it weren't doused in salt. I was looking forward to trying it since my last visit to Maiella, when I opted to get the Dover Sole instead so it was quite disappointing that I couldn't even force myself to eat more than a taste of it. It was the only dish that was not good. Everything else was great.
We have been going to Maiella forthe part 3 years , our friends and family from overseas love it as much as us. Our family from Israel, Argentina , Spain and Mexico love the quality of the food and the night view of the Manhattan landscape .
What else can su which for? Good food, friends and family and the best view of the city
The patio was quieter than inside and very relaxing. Staff was attentive without being intrusive....just right! Pace was good too...never felt rushed. Thank you Stephanie and Edwardo! Will be back...
Every time I come back it just keeps getting better, the service. The more I explore the menu, the more it excites me.
Rude service. And the food is not as good as it use to be
For a restaurant with such great ratings, I would have expected much better. Service at the bar AND dinner was mediocre, appetizers and dinner were rushed. It was a Sunday at 5, was certainly not busy enough for a rushed meal. Also, my short ribs had a ton of fat.
A beautiful and classy restaurant. Perfect for a family gathering, romantic date or even a business meeting. The food is delicious and there are plenty of good drinks to chose from. There is a bar indoors and and scenic view outdoors. I really liked this place. It was perfect for me to celebrate my partner’s birthday. I also liked that the restaurant is kid-friendly. Will definitely be going back soon.
Expensive, but definitely worth it. High end Italian dining with excellent, attentive service and stunning views from the rear terrace.
Food was pretty decent; however the service needs to be improved. At the front entrance, there were 3 hostesses and a manager who seemed to not be able to communicate with each other, leaving us waiting for our reserved table in a corner. Our waiter never came to check how the food was and we had to ask to refill wine glasses when we ordered a bottle.
The service was fair. We sat there for about 20 minutes before someone came to offer the menu.
A table who got there after us got the attention right away.
Maiella was recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint. The drinks were great, the food was fantastic. The scenery was better than I anticipated.
I had a great experience from start to finish. The restaurant is gorgeous and the food is nothing less then amazing. The staff really know how to cater to you!
Wonderful meal and amazing staff
I took my mom here for her 48th birthday. She was amazed with how beautiful and fancy the restaurant it. Literally at the back of the iconic Pepsi-Cola sign. And the Maiella fettuccini stole the show! ❤️
I took my boyfriend to Maiella for his birthday. We definitely had an awesome experience. When we arrived we were greeted by the valet. They have a very efficient valet service where they text you and when you’re about to leave you reply to the text and they will have your car waiting out front for you. Once we went inside we were greeted by the hostess who where I realized I mistakingly booked the reservation for the following Friday. Extremely embarrassed that I messed up my boyfriend’s birthday reservation, she was super accommodating and told me although it was busy she would get me seated in 15 mins. While waiting we took some pictures on their patio which breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline and the restaurant itself is situated right behind the Pepsi Cola sign. We also grab a drink each at the bar. I ordered the Maiella, honestly wasn’t a fan, thought it was a bit water down. Once seated we ordered the Maiella fettuccini, the grilled calamari and for our main course we shared the strip and shrimp dish. The Fettuccini is made in front of you with their Parmesan wheel. Strangely, although they made it in front you, our pasta was cold, I told the waiter and they quickly made us a new order which was much better. I loved their unique twist on the calamari which was grilled and breaded and placed on skewers, however my boyfriend was not a fan. The steak and shrimp dish was OK. We loved the shrimp, but was a little surprised by the strip. Was expecting a whole strip, but in instead received 3 smalls pieces that was bloody pink in the center when we asked for medium well. We were too full from the Primi course to complain, we split one of the little pieces and wasn’t a fan anyway. For my boyfriend’s birthday the waiter sent over a complimentary lemon meringue slice a cake which was a super nice gesture. Overall, I would definitely come back, I saw a lot of other dishes being brought out to other guests which looked appealing. Great service!
This restaurant was an incredible find!! The atmosphere, food and service were outstanding. Freddie was a great server and his support staff was also friendly and provided us with a lovely experience! We will definitely be back!!
Exquisite food, great atmosphere, outstanding service
My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary on a Wednesday evening. Our waiter was spectacular; friendly, well informed, and let us take our time.
We both ate fish and found the quality to be very good. Oysters were exceptional, and the portions for the Dover Sole and the Branzino were enough that we both left satisfied. Freshness was on point, flavors were somewhat bland though.
The ambiance was a miss though. Wooden chairs were notably uncomfortable, and the music (50’s rock and roll) was out of place for this type of establishment. Patrons did not respect the dress code either. Perhaps there is some confusion about “smart casual”; if this is important for the management then I suggest being more explicit.
Was hoping for this to be one of those terrific meals and experiences that would keep you coming back for more. Very nice setting.
Inattentive service and a completely inappropriate table of men who were preoccupied with cursing the entire night next to us made for a forgettable evening.
The food in this restaurant is superb, the portions reasonable and the wine excellent. The problem is that the service is extremely slow and inefficient, almost amateurish. The servers are very friendly and communicative but they are very slow, unfocused and sloppy, particularly when the restaurant is very busy. The ambiance is very nice, the views are spectacular, but the acoustics is not so great. We will probably come back because it is near our house and we love the food, but it is overpriced for the level of service that you get.
Great food and great atmosphere.
The service wasn't great, the waiter messed up our order a few times. We said we didn't want any more water and he got it for us anyway which cost us an extra $6. When we ordered coke, it took him 15 minutes to get it for us because he had forgotten and we had to remind him. Everyone has an off day. Overall it was pretty good. The food was okay. Although there definitely is such a thing as too much truffle. It tasted too buttery. That was only one of the dishes and everything else was really good. And the ambiance is great.
Great food. Amazing Drinks. Outstanding Service. Will return for another date night for sure!! :-)
They weren't that busy but we got a being rushed feeling. Waiter wanted to give us the appetizer and the risotto course at the same time. Too many kids who are not taught how to behave in restaurants
