The food was excellent. there were a lot of large parties and at times the wait staff were a little behind but my biggest negative was the noise level was so High it was hard to have a conversation with my wife at times. We were seated outside so we were surprised at how loud some of the parties were.
Had an excellent dinner last night. Food superb as well their services. This restaurant is always great!!!
Service was excellent, portions were small, prices expensive for the portions served. I didn’t like the pork at all but my daughters liked it.
Been going here for years and am disappointed in the offerings on the menu recently. Only one gluten free pasta choice and no GF pizza any more. What you pay is too high for what you get any more.
Our waiter Erik made it super clear with his tone and body language that he did not want to service our table after we were really patient and calm with him. Every opportunity to be condescending and callous towards us- he took
Great service. Elevated flavors
We ate there to celebrate our anniversary. We were married there 5 years ago. Service and food were wonderful and they have many new menu choices. Prices have risen but it’s still a great place.
Such great service, Jaciento was great and very knowledgeable about the food and had great recommendations.
Great service. Outdoor area comfortable and welcoming. Great flavor
Love the new menu! The new Chef! Love the place even more now!
Wonderful place. Been here for the second time and i will be planning my next very soon. Staff are so pleasant and polite. Food is exceptional. Love that they were able to accommodate my vegan/vegetarian diet.
The food was great. The noise was very loud so much so that it was difficult to hear the conversation at our table. I will avoid Saturday evenings in the future!!!
Menu changed. New chef.
Overall it was good. I took my wife for our anniversary, we had great time. They even sent us extra complementary desserts for our anniversary. Service was good and I would recommend to anyone and I would love to go back to taste more items on the menu.
Maiella provided fantastic service and delicious pasta. My family had a wonderful evening!
Delicious food and fabulous service - not a “light menu” so eat salad for lunch before you come :)
Wonderful location, romantic setting with exceptional food and service. Perfect for that special occasion!
This is not my first dining experience in Maiella, but I can’t help but acknowledge the full
Circle of complete satisfaction! The atmosphere is sexy, luxurious ! Dim lighting with great background music, wonderful service ! The food is amazingly delicious! We ordered Barrata appetizer and Grilled Octopus.. it was amazing! Our entree was grilled Branzino and a special cavitteli home made pasta with the this delicious sauce!! Great cheesecake desert !! It’ was a perfect meal coupled with GREAT SERVICE! I would come here a million times so GREAT!
We love it there! Food is delicious and service is the best I’ve experienced.
We came here for our anniversary. Were sat in a dark corner, but then they put a noisy family next to us. Why? Place was almost empty and it was early for dinner. Why weren't we seated at a better spot, like next to window? Waiter, who was lovely, lost our credit card. Blamed us then they found it. However food and drink were outstanding.
I've been here for many different occasions, date night, my engagement, family & friends. This time to celebrate my wife's birthday & pregnancy. The food has always been spot on and a staple of perfection. Our waiter Hugo was great. He had a strong service. Always attentive hustling bustling through the tables never leaving you feeling left behind or less important then the next. His extensive knowledge to the new menu was a plus as we were little more familiar with the last chef & menu.
We Started the night with The Moscow Mule as well as sparkling water (Pellegrino) and Polpo. A mid course that included the new version TAGLIATELLE TARTUFO (due to covid protocol is no longer cooked on cheese wheel table side) Entrees of Branzino & Steak. Our food was great although we wished the Polpo was little larger (1 piece seems tad small at the price and table of 2). The New Version of the Tagliatelle Tartufo was just right. Al dente with A little twist from big truffle pieces to shavings. We do hope the table side does return post covid. I'd like to say again our server was awesome.
The only truly unfortunate downfall and reason a perfect score could not be granted is the AC Unit seemed to be malfunctioning, constantly either turning on for minute then would turn off where the floor became so hot we began sweating feeling clammy and uncomfortable. You could see other patrons dabbing their faces with napkins. The poor waiters/waitresses/servers and bus boys tried hard not to show the sweat beading from their foreheads. We unfortunately had to take the rest of our dinner to go. As it became unbearable for a pregnant women to enjoy. I hope this gets fixed ASAP with NY Heatwaves.
We do look forward to a return when it get cooler for outdoor seats in the fall and a chance to put Maiella back to 5*'s. P.S. if you could bring back a staple duck entree would be awesome. Second to the now retired cheese wheel.
Fabulous time at Maiella...as always! One of my ATF's in LIC!
The location and menu of Maiella looked good; however, the experience was far below my expectations. While the place looks very well decorated and put together, that is where the positives stop.
First, a QR code menu does not lend itself well to a place that purports itself to be fine dining. The waiter was also not up to the standards that one would expect at this price point. When we asked to order the grilled octopus as an appetizer, we were informed that "the chef requires that the full order be placed at once." In some respect, I can understand this, as the octopus was gummy and very fishy with a mushy potato slice and a very sophomoric hot sauce served with it, and this bad first course would have influenced the rest of my order. That being said, again, if a restaurant purports itself to be fine dining, the idea that all courses must be ordered at once is a gauche miss and very off-putting.
The first thing to come out was two sad slices of bread alone on a plate. When we asked if there would be some sort of olive oil or other accompaniment to this bread, the staff looked confused. Having spent time in many Italian restaurants, including several in Italy, this was a bad sign of things to come.
The wine was good and reasonably priced; and this is where the positives stop. I ordered what was essentially a mushroom tortellini in a truffle sauce. The pasta was bodega quality, and the "black truffle sauce" tasted like a salty grocery store bottled brown sauce. Had I not seen the menu description, I would have assumed it was just left over cheese tortellini in a made-from-powder brown gravy. The only good use of this gravy-sauce was that it lent some flavor to the overpriced, flavorless steak that my companion ordered. While the steak was cooked well, the cut was suboptimal and it was served simple plopped on a plate with some random cold greenery heaped on top in a haphazard way.
At that point we had enough and asked for a check. Don't go.
So many flies… so many of them
It was absolutely amazing, I’ve been here a few times before and Maiella never disappoints. The managers are so welcoming and make you feel like family. I haven’t seen one of them in over two years and he remembered me! It is an amazing experience I will definitely be coming back.
The atmosphere was great. We sat in the outdoor seating on the street and felt it was still cozy with minimal traffic noise interrupting us. The Pepsi sign is right there with large grass areas to lay out, so you can bring a blanket to enjoy the scenery or take a leisurely walk before or after your meal.
Everything was very good. The menu was a bit limited , no specials. Bread is excellent. Pizza was excellent. 2 of us chose Lobster Agnolotti but it was not what we expected. It was ok but not creamy or melt in your mouth…flavors ok but not great. Chicken Marsala was excellent portions were decent and wine choices weren’t bad either. Overall we were pleased
Just miss some of the menu options from pre-Covid with former chef.
Loved the food!!!
Fun restaurant for a special occasion. Italian fare, everything was delicious - sides were slightly salty but mains were perfect. Great pastas and lamb.
The prices continue to increase and now the portion size is decreasing!
Absolutely every staff member we encountered was extremely professional, incredibly courteous, & all services were delivered in a timely manner! Well done Maiella staff!!
All around beautiful place to have dinner or sit at the bar.
Great food and excellent service!
Amazing food. All of the dishes were incredible. The burrata was like a dream. The pasta was my favorite part. I will be dreaming of the rigatoni and the nerano for a long time to come. Amazing service as well. Our waiter Eric was so attentive and nice. It was an incredible meal
Dinner was delish. Service perfect atmosphere very pleasant. Will return many many times
The food and service were good...sat outside in back...I would go back.
The atmosphere, food and service were outstanding
The staff was friendly, nice and attentive. The food was good, servings a little on the small size but it was good. The noise levels are a little high. Location wise easy to get to, there is a parking lot a block away. Overall he had a good time, I would be back.
Maiella is always a great spot — I was there for a friends’ get together and my friends loved the place. Food was delicious and desserts, super tasty. The service is agile and knowledgeable, which makes the experience amazing. Carlos at the bar is the best. This is my neighborhood and I love this place so much!
