First time and will return. The waitstaff was very helpful and explained the various offerings. Started with the roasted carrot appetizer- a great choice, sweet and creamy in texture. The Pappardelle alla Bolognese was an excellent choice for the pasta course. Tender homemade pasta noodles in a creamy tomato sauce was pure comfort food. We shared the signature main coarse of Maialino al Forno. A very generous portion of crispy roasted pig served with rosemary potatoes. Highly recommend the gelato and sorbetti for a light refreshing dessert. The restaurant is upscale casual with a vibrant atmosphere. I understand why reservations are hard to come by.

Wonderful wonderful meal, and fabulous wine, with very slow overall service (maybe because of the no tipping policy?)

Phenomenal, as always. Maialino consistently over-delivers.

They were very accommodating to us being slightly late. The sommelier was super friendly and helpful. Everyone pitches in to help at the table. The bolognese was fantastic!

Went for a birthday and service was pretty bad. Food arrived cold and had to be warmed up. Also told them it was a birthday when we made the reservation and checked in but dessert came with nothing. Disappointment and we’ve been here many times - never again.

We have eaten at Maialino before and enjoyed it. I particularly liked the tasting menu which was not available this time. The chef seems to put extra care in to the preparation when the choices are left up to him/her.
Lovely ambiance. Prices high.

Food was average, presentation very basic and in tiny plates. I did enjoy the seafood stew and my son the pasta with pork ragu. My daughter’s did not like their Spaghetti a la Carbonara and the waitress did not notice that their plates were left almost full. Worse, there was a mix up with the order. My daughters had ordered small plates of carbonara each. I told the waitress to instead bring one large portion and they would share. They ended up bringing one large and one small. When I told the waitress about the mistake, she apologized and said she “would take care of it”. The bill came with both charges ($39 & $26 I think). Since our waitress never came back to the table after dessert, I opted to just pay the bill and walk away. Unfortunately I walked away with a sour taste and it wasn’t because of the $26 which are irrelevant.

I love this place. It is a quintessential neighborhood gem. Special enough for the most special occasions without feeling so uptight. Ballgowns and denim jeans and band t-shirts alike are welcome.
An absolutely wonderful waitstaff...knowledgeable, witty, super engaging, yet invisible during the meal...this is why you go out. This is fine dining in a cool environment done really well.
A welcome "no kids allowed" respite from the holiday madness.

We always enjoy our time at Maialino -- it is refined and first-rate, yet unpretentious and relaxed. The food is simple, delicious and expertly crafted, the staff are informed and helpful, and the prix fixe lunch menu at $48 is an absolute bargain. There is plenty of space in the restaurant and no sense of any rush to eat. We were last there for my wife's birthday. We will be back again soon and often.

Granted, it was Christmas Day and the restaurant was horribly understaffed, but the wait for our food was interminable, my wife's pasta was overcooked and the replacement pasta took 45 minutes to arrive. To be fair, they took her pasta off the bill.

Front stuff was very helpful to accommodate my 4 month old little one with stroller. Food however tasted better during my initial visit around its opening days. I think service could be little better but as a whole we had a nice dining experience with infant.

Maialino always delivers a fantastic brunch. They even managed to seat us when I was 30 minutes late, and my friends had showed up on time but hadn’t checked with the maitre d’.

Thank you Maialino for the delicious pancakes, eggs and bacon. We will be back!

Great ambiance and service. Amazing wine list, and the sommelier made a perfect recommendation for my price range. However, my Carbonara, made with salt pork, was way too salty, all fat and no protein.

One of our favorite places to eat when visiting NYC. Everyone from General Mgr. Andrea Czachor to the professional wait staff are attentive, friendly, make you feel special, and at home. The food is authentic Italian, extremely well prepared, the menu is spot on, and the "specials" are terrific. Highly recommended. Great food, great service, great vibe.

Great experience with fantastic meal. I´m from Brazil (Sao Paulo) where we have good restaurants. Even having a high benchmark with restaurants was a pleasant surprise to my gastronomic experience.

We have dined at Mialino several times, but after our lunch experience this time, I'm not sure that I would return. There were six of us for lunch and we were seated in the back of the restaurant which we thought would be quieter. It wasn't. Being the holiday season, I guess that was no surprise. The service however was terrible. Our waiter seemed to care less that we were there and pretty much ignored us during the two and a half hours that it took to be served our lunch. When our food did come, all of us had a pasta and they were all overly salted and cheesy. The bottle of wine that we ordered did not come until we were halfway through our meal. We would have ordered coffee, but since we had already been there two and a half hours, we skipped it, knowing that it would probably had taken another half hour. This waiter definitely did not deserve a 20 per cent tip, but since this is a no tipping restaurant, and the gratuity is added into the cost of the meal, we had no way to let him know that the service was not acceptable.

Food was absolutely delicious, as expected. Bolognese stood out. Service was also great, however the sommelier was mildly unhelpful in navigating their fantastic, but incredibly massive wine list. Special attention was paid to the fact that this was a birthday celebration and an engagement celebration as well which was so nice. Only low point was the state of the bathrooms-- abysmal! I notified staff and they were extremely apologetic. Will be back!
