Never disappointing ! Food is always authentic and delicious . We love the view of Gramercy Park from its windows and the elegant simplicity that it exudes. Favorite chic brunch spot in town !

We love this restaurant. We have had dinner here before and it did not disappoint this past Saturday night. Everything from our appetizers (amazing cotechino), to pastas (fabulous carbonara), to our main course (suckling pig which we shared), to John our server, to the patrons sitting next to us...........it was a fun and delicious experience. We will be back. The only thing is that when I called to reserve, they asked if it was a special occasion and I replied that it was our anniversary. They even put this info on our check and then forgot all about it. Oh, well, next time. We will be back soon.

My husband and I met my son and his girlfriend for Brunch at Maialino. The staff is very professional, polite and helpful. We arrived on time but my son was late....no worries, they were happy to seat us at our table and brought our coffee as we waited. The service was great even though the restaurant was completely full. The food was fabulous, everyone was happy with what they had. Ambience is casual but sophisticated.

Went for weekend brunch only. Not accommodating, overpriced for food quality.
Unpleasant surprise for this group of restaurants. Ate at North Avenue Grille later that evening. Also expensive, but the food and service were spectacular and it was worth every penny.

Lovely all around except for the provincial mindset that "we only serve rose/rosato in the summer"...get with the program...only in America is rose served only in the summer (or at least in a handful of restaurants)...very disappointing...

Loud drunken party at next table.
With 5 guest we were seated at an extra large round table and it was too big to talk across. I started with 4 guests but when I added one more I was told to come half an hour later. When we got there - there were empty tables

Overall, I would recommend this place to be tried at least once. The food was quite good. I went basically for the sole purpose of trying the Maialino Al Forno (roasted suckling pork) which was indeed very tasty; it had incredible crispy skin with just the right layer of fat and the pork was juicy. I was not that impressed with the size of it though, from reviews I have read and from what the manager was saying, I was expecting something much larger. We shared it as an appetizer among my dining group of 4 but I would say if you were really hungry and a fan of pork, it is definitely doable for one person to eat the whole thing with no problem. All the pastas were good too especially the squid ink tagliolini. Service was a mixed bag; our water was refilled quite often and the waiter was friendly when he first came over but it took them quite a bit before they came to take our orders. The space was nice but was quite cold for most of the evening.

Every city should have a Maialino for your go-to authentic Italian cuisine. The starters are not to miss and a meal by itself. However if you share the meats & cheeses and an entree or two, you will even have room to share dessert.

First time and will return. The waitstaff was very helpful and explained the various offerings. Started with the roasted carrot appetizer- a great choice, sweet and creamy in texture. The Pappardelle alla Bolognese was an excellent choice for the pasta course. Tender homemade pasta noodles in a creamy tomato sauce was pure comfort food. We shared the signature main coarse of Maialino al Forno. A very generous portion of crispy roasted pig served with rosemary potatoes. Highly recommend the gelato and sorbetti for a light refreshing dessert. The restaurant is upscale casual with a vibrant atmosphere. I understand why reservations are hard to come by.

Went for a birthday and service was pretty bad. Food arrived cold and had to be warmed up. Also told them it was a birthday when we made the reservation and checked in but dessert came with nothing. Disappointment and we’ve been here many times - never again.

We have eaten at Maialino before and enjoyed it. I particularly liked the tasting menu which was not available this time. The chef seems to put extra care in to the preparation when the choices are left up to him/her.
Lovely ambiance. Prices high.

Food was average, presentation very basic and in tiny plates. I did enjoy the seafood stew and my son the pasta with pork ragu. My daughter’s did not like their Spaghetti a la Carbonara and the waitress did not notice that their plates were left almost full. Worse, there was a mix up with the order. My daughters had ordered small plates of carbonara each. I told the waitress to instead bring one large portion and they would share. They ended up bringing one large and one small. When I told the waitress about the mistake, she apologized and said she “would take care of it”. The bill came with both charges ($39 & $26 I think). Since our waitress never came back to the table after dessert, I opted to just pay the bill and walk away. Unfortunately I walked away with a sour taste and it wasn’t because of the $26 which are irrelevant.

I love this place. It is a quintessential neighborhood gem. Special enough for the most special occasions without feeling so uptight. Ballgowns and denim jeans and band t-shirts alike are welcome.
An absolutely wonderful waitstaff...knowledgeable, witty, super engaging, yet invisible during the meal...this is why you go out. This is fine dining in a cool environment done really well.
A welcome "no kids allowed" respite from the holiday madness.

We always enjoy our time at Maialino -- it is refined and first-rate, yet unpretentious and relaxed. The food is simple, delicious and expertly crafted, the staff are informed and helpful, and the prix fixe lunch menu at $48 is an absolute bargain. There is plenty of space in the restaurant and no sense of any rush to eat. We were last there for my wife's birthday. We will be back again soon and often.

Granted, it was Christmas Day and the restaurant was horribly understaffed, but the wait for our food was interminable, my wife's pasta was overcooked and the replacement pasta took 45 minutes to arrive. To be fair, they took her pasta off the bill.
