What Insiders Are Saying
Danny Meyer’s Gramercy Park Roman Italian restaurant is better than we initially thought, especially for a date or an upscale brunch.
Fantastic meal! It was anniversary and they were so gracious in offering us a toast of champagne and a delicious dessert with a Happy Anniversary written in chocolate. Perfect!
We celebrated our anniversary there. It was the perfect place for it: great food, good service, warm environment, excellent ambiance. Who could ask for more for our 57th anniversary? But I do resent having to write 500 words - you should be satisfied with any amount of words of praise.
Tonarelli cacio e Pepe is always amazing. My wife's portion was cold, but the waiter took it off the check. They were not able to serve me a porcetta plate (shaved ham) because it was "snack time". I only received some bread after asking for it. I guess the service could have been better.
Amazing as always. So good, wonderful service. The Maialino al forno is like heaven. The pastas are incredible. Everything one could hope for in Roman cuisine.
Food as good as ever. Service and hospitality not up to Danny Meyer standards. What happened??
The Sommelier Katherine Schwartz was amazing and really made our night.
Thoroughly enjoyable experience. Lovely view of Gramercy Park
The suckling pig is such a treat. Crispy and tangy crust, and tender, succulent meat underneath. The wine list is extensive, and the sommelier was friendly and helpful in guiding us to a wonderful Italian red. Comfortable but sophisticated atmosphere, and impeccable service.
Wonderful greeting, great service just a touch off on timing and most importantly, delicioso food! We will plan another visit!
Great food, huge wine list, and great service, with someone dedicated to explaining the menu. As an older person, my only complaint was the noise level, which made conversation more difficult.
Nope. No way that was worth $70 for two people. The gratuity is included in the bill, and it shows in the service. After 10min waiting at the table, I went to find us water and menus. Clearly, zero follow up from the server between taking the order and bringing the bill. My poached eggs were so soft boiled, I left them uneaten (naturally, no “was something the matter” from the server), and the toast tasted stale.
The high point of the meal? Jimmy Fallon walked by and thanked the manager for breakfast. He must be used to LA service. I hope they got his eggs right.
Food is excellent, value is not great. Service professional but lacking soul.
Very good food with vibrant restaurant vibe. Wine was outstanding with our food thanks to the Somm. Definitely recommend.
Reviews leading up to my decision to make a reservation were flawed. Nothing special about the food or service can’t understand why anyone would find this place memorable especially with all the great Italian restaurants in New York
Your service has definitely slipped. I’ve had dinner at Maialino several times over the past 2 years and last night was not what I expected. Waited 10 minutes from the time I sat down to my table before I literally got up from my chair to find a waiter or manager to get water, a drink ordered, my table RE-balanced.
Will think twice before ever returning.
One of the best restaurants in NYC for brunch. The Cacio de Pepe is to die for. Strongly recommend to others if you are in the city on a Sunday.
The cappuccinos were excellent, as were the ricotta pancakes. The rest of the brunch, including salads, eggs, were average. Service was very average, which seems to be the case with restaurants which automatically include the tip. I don't think we would go out of our way to return. Ambience was enjoyable, overlooking Gramercy Park.
The food was average type italian fare, however the real downer was the terrible wait. Despite asking the waiter specifically to send dishes as they come, we had to wait an hour and 30 minutes after finishing our appetizers to get our entrees.
A female manager came to our table to apologize, but decided to blame it on a duck we had ordered that supposedly held up everything.
While they added a few side dishes to apologize, we had lost appetite by then, two hours after arriving.
Given the number of quality italian restaurants in tye city, the bad service and the fact that gratuity is automatically included which prevents you from voicing your displeasure, i strongly advise against wasting your money, or your time there.
Service and food were not as good as before, very noisy. I have recommended it before but will not anymore.
Great Service, The Food was amazing! Fresh , hot and well prepared. The atmosphere was inviting and cozy
I asked for a seat at the end which they accommodated. Much appreciated. Our server was very polite too!
Menu is extremely limited and rarely changes
Brunch with a friend- cocktails were great - service spot on - the ricotta pancakes were unbelievable with the peach jam -
Always a wonderful Danny Meyer experience. The service, cuisue and ambience are all made with the customer in mind...superb
This is my favorite restaurant! Excellent food, excellent service, and the perfect balance of fancy and casual.
I had been dying to go here forever, eyeing the amazing ambiance from the window as I passed by regularly, and Maialino completely lived up to the hype. A bit on the pricier side, but completely worth it. The food was amazing, the wine list was beyond extensive, the service was attentive and friendly. Perfect for a date! The setting warrants dressing up or dressing more casual.
One of our favorites in NYC! Great food and great service!
Maiaino’s is one of the best restaurants in the city, and is our family’s favorite brunch/breakfast spot. The ricotta pancakes, the toffee brioche, and the Italian style scrambled eggs are all stunning. Service is super smooth and skilled, and the “tip included” prices in no way diminish the attentiveness of the staff.
The dining room is beautiful and warm but relaxed.
I find it annoying that I’m forced to write this review
Excellent and unpretentious service, good ambiance and great food. As a Londoner big fan of the non-tipping policy
My husband and I are on holiday in NYC for the first time and wanted to try some of NEw York’s hottest culinary delights. I had seen many great reviews of this place. Everything was fine except the braised duck pasta was too heavily salted and I couldn’t eat it. We did try. It was too salty for my husband too. It was really nice of the restaurant to give us gelato to try make up for it but I’m not a sweet tooth so that was pointless.
Wonderful meal with a truly incredible wine list. Sommelier was especially excellent. Extremely well informed and made superb recommendations.
My favorite place to spend my birthday
such a great meal. great service that wasn't overbearing. amazing wine selection and the portions were generous for a fancy place like this. would definitely go back!
The food was average. We were really disappointed .
$30 pasta bowl with pepper, butter, and sharp Romano cheese. You decide.
Fabulous food. Highly recommend the bucatini- best ever Definitely will return on my next trip to NYC
Excellent food with great service, high price but real italian taste
Everything about maialino was more than great for me. I went for my birthday and was absolutely happy I choose this place and I definitely will be going back to try other menu items.
