Food was pretty good but waited over an hour for our brunch food to come out. Not even busy. Waitress admitted she forgot our order but still decided to charge us full price even though she could see we were not happy. Even after she brought our food she forgot part of the items. I asked about it but it was just not happening. Bad luck we got a crummy waitress but I expected her to make up for it in some way. Won’t be coming back... not worth it!
Chef Allen is a great cook and has always very good daily special beside normal menu.
His restaurant provides a great atmosphere while having delicious meals. His wine card, although reduced, will provide you with great wines priced very reasonably
Will be back next year for the 31 st as usual.
We're ready satisfied foods. Clam linguine and korean style chicken wings was fantastic.
Enjoyed a great brunch, especially the banana pancakes and the chef’s own bacon.
Love it! My ohana & I will return for the ono grinds!
The food was very good, but the coffee needed improvement. We mentioned it to our waitress and she agreed. We went back 2 days later and the coffee was very good and the food was wonderful. Good value for the area.
Great food & perfect for watching a Waikoloa sunset!
Great Poke Bowl! I was especially impressed since it's at a golf course.
I made an open table reservation online because their website said reservations were recommended. We showed up and there was a "seat yourself" sign. We walked in and decided we wanted to sit outside. I made sure to let the staff behind that bar (since thats where all staff were) that we wanted to know if it was ok to sit outside. Service was very slow. I got menus for our own table. The waitress was nice but the food was not great. My eggs were good, but the french toast with the berry and cream cheese topping were pretty gross looking. Myself and the other guest at my table pushed all of that to the side. Bellini didn't seem much like a bellini and needed to be remixed. After asking for the check 3 times and 20min later, we got the check. Was pretty disappointed because the restaurant seemed to have good reviews and the location is very pretty outside overlooking the golf course.
Overpriced for average quality of food.
I made reservations for Thanksgiving dinner. The restaurant was very nice and had great service but the were not open about the menu. They only offered a buffet style dinner and I watched people walk about after seeing what was offered. The food was at best a 4/10 (and that’s a generous number), extremely over priced and very limited. I would not recommend anyone to come on thanksgiving. With that being said, the service was great, the view was awesome and the facility was very nice and clean. There was no transparency about the buffet. With limited options available my wife and I gave it a shot and we’re both very disappointed. The food was cold and the deserts (only two options, pumpkin pie or Macadamia nut pie) were pre cut and let out. The whipped cream on the pie was melting because it had sat out for so long. IF we ever come back to the Big Island we would consider trying again IF we can order off of their menu.
Really loved the fresh pineapple juice in the Mai Tais. Best Mai Tai I’ve had in a long time.
Mark is a great server and coffee was outstanding!
アリィバーガー、とても美味しかったです。
My wife and I had a dinner reservation at 5:30 pm on a Thursday night. That was still during the happy hour which had quite a few reduced drinks, beers and wines as well as happy hour dinner items. When we arrived the place was not full, but somewhat packed. There was only one waitress who tried to accommodate everyone. The person working the bar also helped out, but it appeared that they were understaffed.
We ordered beers, an appetizer, the prime steak and the Maui mahi-mahi. All items were very good. Shortly after six the place got pretty empty.
We enjoyed our dinner and will return when in that area again.
The Mai Grille is our neighborhood golf clubhouse, and our recent meal was wives joining husbands after 18 holes. Wonderful personalized service; excellent, tasty food in large portions; happy hour menu is a great deal for both food and drink.
This is a golf clubhouse, and can get a bit noisy with folks joining up after their games.
Long story short, if you’re going for happy hour make sure to clarify what is considered a well drink and make sure you’re getting charged happy hour prices, if not you’re going to get full price drinks and appetizers. My friends and I went for happy hour and ordered a basic happy drinks and dishes. Among them were the fish tacos which I found a small green worm climbing through my kale after eating the first taco. I discreetly brought it to the attention of our server and he brought me a new plate of tacos. When we received the bill I was surprised to see that they charged me for them. I also discovered that they charged us full price four our vodka grapefruit and margaritas. I questioned the server who in turn questioned the bartender. The bartender told me that vodka grapefruit was not a well drink. . . . what? He said only inexpensive mixers like soda were on happy hour. That was interesting. He didn’t seem thrilled about adjusting our bill. After we left I also noticed that they charged us full price for the poke nachos (which are also on happy hour). We were there for over an hour and could have ordered more beverages but the server and bar tender were strangely absent during such a slow afternoon.
Our host was amazing. Total proof that good service still exists and she rocked a smile all the time despite having a little knee issue: promote her!
A great restaurant for a group of friends or party looking for good casual dining and a few drinks.
Open Table took reservations for us on August 2, but the restaurant part was closed for "equipment installation," according to a sign out front. The phone number on Open Table and also what the restaurant has listed is for "information only." There is no message phone nor is there anyone to answer the phone during any of the hours listed. Friends went there last night (8/4) and said what's on the menu isn't offered in the restaurant. According to the waiter, the menu has not been "updated" on the website. Need to get their act together by updating their phone system, menu, communication with Open Table, etc. so faithful patrons of Open Table don't get marked as a "no show," which makes it look like the customer was at fault.

お料理もどれも美味しかったです。
特にパンケーキとベーコンはおススメです!
didn't love the menu, very limited, but cute place
If you are on the big Island, don't miss eating here. There house cured bacon is delicious!
We stopped by Mai Grille during a stay at Kings Land. We have been visiting the Waikaloa area for 10 straight years and had never given the Grille a try. We are so glad we finally did. The food was great, prices good and so was the service. We have already referred a few friends staying at the resort to the restaurant. We will return.
Best food we had on the island!! We had dinner at 5:30 which was on the happy hour menu so it was very reasonable cost wise. I had a swordfish with an Asian preparation that was to die for.
I had been there once before and the food was great. I went back with a group of friends and was a little disappointed with the slow service, considering it wasn't that busy, even at peak summer season (less than half the restaurant was occupied). Drinks took a long time to arrive, the champagne was flat and had to be sent back, and the food took a bit longer than expected. However, once again, the food did not disappoint! It was only a limited (happy hour) menu, but there were a number of tasty options. The chef came and chatted with us and our server was friendly, but everything just seemed SLOW. I would still recommend it to friends that are not in a hurry and want a good meal in a laid back atmosphere.
We have been to Mai Grille three times since we’ve been here and have loved it every time. The food is delicious and the drinks are unique and refreshing. On our first night there, our bartender worked extra hard serving both our drinks and food. Our last night there, Joyce was excellent. Impeccable service and so friendly. Plus she gave us history of the Island. They say golf courses have the best food options, and Mai Grille doesn’t disappoint. Next time we visit we will definitely make Mai Grille one of our destinations.
ゴルフ前の昼食で伺いました。予約は要らないかも。ベーコン自慢のようで実際美味しかった。
We had a blast! It was a special event with the band Lorenzo's Army. A special happy hour menu all night and drink specials. The band was Great! The bacon, awesome. It truly is Bacon Hale.
Chef Allen Hess excels at creativity. This does not compromise the quality and [portion of the food. His food is excellent, service good and he makes it a point of interacting with his guests to make sure everyone is having a positive experience. It is a shame that this restaurant is not in a higher traffic area since it would fulfill every foodie's wish list.
Our drink orders never got to the table. We had to go to the bar to get them ourselves. The food was ok but two had to be sent back because of errors in the order. Never again.
A friend suggested Mai Grille to us and created fans immediately. They make their own bacon in house and it is delicious! The coffee is grown on a family farm in Kau and it is amazing. We were very impressed and will return!
We were quite disappointed. First, they were understaffed for Sunday Brunch at noon. It took a long time just to get a glass of water. Famed for their bacon, it was so hard we couldn't chew it. The omelet was good as was the French toast and lightly scrambled eggs. Could not find our waitress to get the check. Had to ask another waitress.
We went to Mai Grille for an early dinner (5pm). At that time they were serving their happy hour menu. Mostly lighter fare on the menu but there was a fish dish that was very good. The problem was there was one person tending bar and waiting tables. The restaurant was full so while the server was doing his best, it took a while to get service. They could have used another person to assist with taking orders and delivering drinks.
We celebrated Mother’s Day brunch here, Gary was our server and he was very tentative with a Great personality. Definitely will be going back seeing that I live here on the island and the prices for great food is reasonable!
We had a reservation for dinner outside but it was hot & the place was almost empty so we sat inside. Very limited “pupu” menu. I had fish tacos and my husband had a burger. Both were very good. No sides come with the plates but we were fine without them. Happy Hour prices were “resort reasonable”. We went back for breakfast a few days later. They are known for their bacon and it was great! Say “hello” to MeowMeow, the cat that hangs out on the patio.
No one helped us we left
Four of us had a delightful dinner here. Allen took a special interest in sharing his culinary expertise, and guiding our selections for dinner. All of us absolutely loved the food we were served. I will return whenever we are on Kona. That said, Allen Hess and his culinary expertise deserves a much nicer restaurant setting. His present location is a bar and "lunch room". Allen and his staff made for a very enjoyable evening, and the food was fabulous!
Third time dining there should tell you how good it is
First time dining there. Pleasantly surprised. Very good food and would dine there again
