Mai Colachi BBQ & Grill
When it started few years ago it quality of food and overall experience was good but either there change in management or owner is focusing on other interests.
The furniture at present need TLC.
My sister and I went there for iftar buffet and we were very disappointed with the food. We ended up paying $55.00 for two people. I feel like this price is outrageous.
This was our first time at this restaurant. We love Indian food, so we decided to try Pakistani food. It was delicious! We'll have to come to their Sunday lunch buffet so that we can sample more of the dishes. However, the headwaiter told us that the Sunday lunch buffet is replaced by a daily dinner buffet during the month of Ramadan. Either way, we'll have to come again. The dining room was well appointed and clean.
Some of the dishes are too spicy for my taste, but overall I really enjoyed the Sunday brunch buffet 🙂 Service was excellent.
Goat karahi was really bad .. Service was ok .. food is over priced ..
Tasty and quality food, great ambience. I recommend.
Excellent food and service. Ambiance was very nice and cozy. Loved everything.
I am just shocked. This is the 2nd time when they pull the trick and tell you I was a no show. These guys are cheats. I am happy to send you my bill. My guests and I were promptly seated at 5pm.
Food was ok but very spicy. Not planning to go back.
Delicious food, great service & ambiance.
Would recommend to family & friends
It was copacetic! Esp since Iftar and everyone hangry a little 🤔
The lights were very dim. Could not read the menu.
The seating were conjugated.
When the food came the table got over crowded.
The chemistry was not there.
We went to celebrate our 44th anniversary.
It was a horrible place .
We will never go over there.
The food was great! This is an authentic Pakistani restaurant and cultural customs rule. It is a small space and you may hear a lot of noise. Staff is friendly and eager to make your stay enjoyable.
I have found a restaurant in Sugarland with great tasty food . Excellent service , small but nice place for a quite dining experience , nice place with having dinner with family and friends...
Food was disappointing this time . I would not call this restaurant fine dining . It is just casual. Mirrors on the walls could be wiped clean . The chef changed the way they make the mai colachi goat Karai. Meat tasted preboiled before mixed with masala. Might be due to overload of customers and not enough help. Karai was mixed and came out in mins. The mutton Karai was not stir fried well and smelled very gamey! It is off my list . Spending $160 and not have a good meal was uncalled for. Will not return . Returned 2nd goat karai untouched after trying the first one but was fully charged for it. Waiter was nice but in experienced. Questioned items on the menu but he honestly stated he did not know what it was. Training of staff about the menu would be a plus . Skipped ordering many items because the waiter had no idea what it was . The ambiance/cleanliness is a little better than most local desi restaurants. Trending down though, not what it used to be.
Quiet for Saturday lunch, excellent service, overcooked fish and chop, great Karahi chicken.
Loved this restaurant. The food and service was excellent!. I strongly recommend it. Everything was delicious!!!
Good food, good service, friendly people. Quantity of food for in house dining was greater than when we ordered take out from the same menu.
Overall, great experience. Wil definitely go again.
The majority of Pakistani/Indian restaurants are not known for their decor or service. You basically go just for the food. Not Mai Colachi, the owner has done a good job of creating an upscale environment without sacrificing on the quality of the food. I will go as far to say that it probably has some of the best Pakistani/Indian food that I have ever had. Now the upscale decor and service does come at a cost, this is probably one of the most expensive Pakistani restaurant I have been to as well. For a party of 4 our meal came out to around $130. I would not go here on a regular basis, probably save it for special occasions. I would definitely recommend trying the Mution Karahi, I think it is one of their specialties. Avoid the steaks, I had the rib eye. It was OK, nothing spectacular.
Authentic food! Great ambiance and we had an amazing dining experience with family. Staff is well trained and very attentive to details and service. Can't wait to visit again.
The Karahi was great as always but they ran out of mutton and telling us to sub it for the chicken because it is fresh it just came today lol that was told by the manager ... hopefully their food are fresh everyday for the price that they are charging us ... the management needs to do some work there is a fine line on being professional and being rude which I got from the so called manager that they have who didn't even let me see the chief to compliment him ... if noor khan isn't there in the kitchen there is no point to go to this place
Really enjoyed our dining experience; the food was excellent and we all left well fed and very relaxed....
We enjoyed all the dishes ordered. Replace Big Kadahi with smaller Kadahi to suite
quantity of one dish order. Also if possible try to serve whole wheat Nan or Chapati
for customers on diet.
Its totally a rip off. Food quantity is so small and was not as tasty as I thought. Hey you charging high prize and not providing the right amount of food. It was kind of embarrassing in front of my guest who refused to order more. A day before we went to another Desi restaurant and the quantity was lasted 2 more days than what we ate at the restaurant. No absolutely not worth it to go or recommend. We reserved the table for Monday and received a confirmation of reservation. Only later at the location that we came to know the restaurant is closed on Monday. At least their web site or open table should mention it. So we had double embarrassment i-e on Monday and on Wednesday!!
Someone had told us about Mai Colachi and the good food, so we decided to check it out. We had made a reservation, but were delayed and needed to wait a bit. The restaurant is a bit on the smaller side, especially when the middle tables were booked for large groups. The decor of the restaurant is very nice, modern and a bit upscale. The food is also presented very nicely, which makes it more appealing.
The food itself was average. For starters we ordered the hot & sour soup, but it tasted more like chicken corn soup vs hot & sour. For the main, we ordered the paneer karahi, the chicken karahi, plain naan, roghani naan and raita. The karahi flavors were decent, but the food was really spicy. The spice level was so overwhelming that it took over the flavors of the food. It was a bit disappointing.
The naan were excellent and the raita was also very good. Overall, nice decor and ambiance but average food (and a higher price)
Food is always great and comes out hot and fresh. Staff is nice and friendly and we come for family functions.
They have improved on lightings. The food is consistent in its taste and flavor. The chef, the managing staff are professional and accommodating. This is your classy Pakistani grill food. It's got repeat value.
PS if are wanting to try different cuisines and are worried about the spices and taking the risk, this is your place. There is nothing to worry about at this restaurant.
Service was poor. We were 9 people and made reservations 2-3 days earlier. But they didn't seat us in a table with enough chairs and space. After multiple discussion and arguments with staff and manager they gave us a table . Food was good.
I've been here 3-4 times now and the food is good, but beware! It can be VERY potent and spicy. Be sure to let the chef know to tone it down to better enjoy flavors.
Quick service. Nice ambiance compared to other Indian/Pakistani restaurants.
Was very expensive we didn't know that that day was only buffet so wasn't worth the money we spent
