Maguro Japanese Restaurant
5 pcs assorted sushi with jumbo salmon avocado roll
Steamed Hand Made Japanese Shu Mai
Hand made snow crab and prawn Shu Mai with tobiko on top
Intimate and nicely decorated restaurant just off the main shopping street of Maida Vale. We ate a variety of starters to make it like "tapas" to try lots of different things and shared just one main (a tuna steak). The food was outstanding in every way. Every mouthful was delicious and each dish had unique sauces that when we asked we learned were all homemade. A surprising stand-out dish was some charred asparagus with the most delicious sesame sauce - it was so good we ordered a second one at the end of the meal.
Very pleased to see that the staff took good covid precautions ie the door was open for fresh air circulation, the staff wore masks and plastic gloves to deliver food.
The only downside is that the food is quite expensive. We thought we'd had a light meal and it was still almost £100 for two, with us both drinking inexpensive Japanese green tea.
However, the food and service were so good we will definitely go back and take friends.
We have been coming here for over a year and noticed a substantial difference in the “freshness” of the fish:/ Raw tuna had a very strong unpleasant smell and we were nervous to eat it. Shrimp tempura wasn’t true tempura and was heavy and greasy!! Very disappointed in the quality of food this last visit. The waitress could try to break a “smile” too.
Great local place with a lovely warm atmosphere that I have only just discovered is there. We had delicious melt in the mouth sushi. Favourite dishes were the hatate nigiri and prawn gyoza. Had to order seconds of those! Service was attentive and staff responded quickly to the call buzzer. Will be back to try more dishes.
Really yum, dumplings were delish and the maguro roll in specials was incredible. Well priced.
As always, very happy with the food, the place, and the service. Very peaceful place, stylish interior, lovely people and food is as good as I can remember!
Excellent restaurant. Great food and service. Would highly recommend to anyone
Had dinner with a friend last night. Prices were reasonable for the food that we ordered. Agedashi tofu and the teriyaki beef steak were amazing! The California maki rolls we had weren't as good but all the other dishes were great. Clean, lovely interior and very good service. Would definitely go again.
Delicious food and friendly staff - just like I remember!
Quaint Japanese restaurant hidden in Maida Vale. The service is excellent & the foods to die for!
Tasteless soup, soulless service, average sushi. Before COVID quality was better.
Never fails to impress. Always fresh and delicious
Great food but slightly disinterested staff. Took a while to get attencion.
Booked for date night. Lovely intimate venue. Very delicious and satisfactory food. Staff were attentive and ever so polite. Novel order/staff call buttons on each table, to which they respond rapidly. Price is reasonable considering the area and actually very decent portion sizes. We had rock shrimp tempura, prawn and crab shu mai. 2x special rolls and 1 tempura soup udon and 2x cokes for £80 (service incl.) Left totally stuffed. Great start to our evening!!
Always excellent with friendly, efficient service
Highly recommend to everyone! Maguro has the best sushi in London by far!!
Love this place! Won’t ever stop coming regularly!
Always fresh and amazing food and lovely staff. The manager is always super nice. I'm never disappointed.
Our favorite place so far in london. They have accommodated our gluten allergy and tried their best to make substitutions on the menu for us. Fish is of very good quality. The only thing I would suggest is enhancing the tuna hand roll a bit? They serve it differently than we are used to in the US and although the tuna quality is good the flavor is lacking a bit. Maybe mix the spicy sauce into it a bit and add a touch of “crunchy” on top? Also make sure the tuna goes to the BOTTOM of the roll so you’re not just getting mouthfuls of rice! The a la carte prices can drive up the bill quite a bit so try to order the combo entrees and save a ton of $.
Overall a good experience though and we keep going back.
The food is very fresh and tasty and very well presented. The staff is very polite and attentive. The atmosphere is relaxed. The light is typically dimmed so it's a perfect place for a romantic dinner. You should book a table because they often have limited seating available.
Excellent as always. Staff friendly, food delicious, attention to detail regarding Covid safety measures
The best sushi rolls in London in my opinion. Wonderful collections of ingredients, melt-in-your mouth, good portions. Delicious!
Maguro never disappoints. Their food is fresh and beautifully cooked and presented.
Will go again but on special occasions as it is a bit pricey
Love this place. Fantastic for a quiet weekday lunch. Highly recommend.
Always perfection. Never disappointed.
Good eating in. Good taking out. Good delivery to home.
Great service and atmosphere. Quality food. Tempura was excellent.
Best sushi! Would recommend the special roles 100%
Delicious food, quick and polite service, great lunch menu and also a la carte options. Nothing negative to say.
The food wasn't bad but could be better for the level of the restaurant. Presentation of the dishes were nice. My friend asked for medium rare beef but got a well done one, it was chewy and not enjoyable. They made another one, but obviously it takes time, so I ended up eating my black cod alone and my friend had her beef alone. It's not how I imagined to have my birthday dinner. Another bad thing was the wine, it tasted worse than in a pub. Not sure if I will ever come back. The staff was friendly.
Fantastic as always. Best Japanese in NW! they've expanded to next door as well. 50% discount without tricks - great food as ever.
Food was disappointing for the price and location the service was poor and disorganised however the restaurant is nice looking.
Authentic Japanese ambiance with delicious dishes. Kind and helpful service.
Beautiful spot, lovely air conditioning. Food was delicious and the lunch menu was extremely affordable.
Good food but I think they were a bit overwhelmed with business so service was a bit slow.
I had a marvellous experience at Maguro - the waiter was lovely, the atmosphere great and the food outstanding. A bit pricy but totally worth it, highly recommend
Loved the food. Highly recommend. I wish the wine list (by the glass) was bigger, as I don't drink sake or beer...
