We just relocated here from Chicago and magpie has become our “go to” place. I’m generally not one to order a burger when I go out to eat but I was in the mood for one and I can honestly say this was one of the best I’ve ever had. We also had the chicken -it’s designed to serve two but could easily have served three-also outstanding. The soup was also wonderful- almost like a salad of wonderful cooked veggies in a delicious broth . I’m all about simple food done well and magpie gets this completely. My compliments to the chefs for a job well done
Magpie never disappoints. The food is delicious, seasonal, and creative without being too fussy. Everything is always perfectly cooked. Save room for a cookie after your meal!
Good spot to find interesting and unusual food combinations and a very good wine list. by the glass. Service was outstanding. Will go back with some regularity.
We have been to Magpie several times but not to this new location. It was a lovely evening so when they asked if we like to sit in or out we chose to sit outside. The street is so busy I wouldn’t do that again.
The Fried Squash appetizer, pork belly small plate and Beet panzanella salad were terrific. I had the Clams and Fries. Great flavor but the dish was not hot. The other entree was their salmon offering which was very bizarre. The salmon was cooked nicely but is divided into small pieces. This is the description from the menu: PAN ROASTED ORA KING SALMON, SUGAR SNAP PEAS, ENGLISH PEAS, AVOCADO, PICKLES, SHEEP YOGURT CREMA, HERBS. It was simply weird. Avocado and pickles didn’t work in this dish. This was the main reason along with the lukewarm clam broth I gave it a four star rating.
A great lunch! The food was generous, healthy, and delicious. The service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive.
Food was outstanding, sat at the bar, talked with staff and fellow patrons. Excellent cocktail menu and overall relaxing place with a great vibe.
My husband and I celebrated are wedding anniversary for dinner and we had such an incredible experience. It was easy to change our time reservation, our server was so nice, and the food was excellent. I’d highly recommend it and if I lived in the area I’d go many more times!
My first experience with Magpie was with SacTown Bites food tour. I was so impressed by the taste and freshness of the food that I came from out of town to have lunch with some family members. The hummus bowl with roasted vegetables and red rice was amazing. I love that the restaurant source their ingredients from local farmers. I highly recommend this gem of a restaurant. If you want food that is unique and delicious, definitely try Magpie. Also, the service was great and the staff very friendly!
Seating in the patio Outside is super nice in the fall. Food with a flourish! Lunch sandwiches were special and if we’d had room we would have had dessert too!
Love the fresh ingredients . Always something new on the menu. Plus I enjoy the craft cocktails!!!
Great place to meet friends. Really excellent food. I find the chairs to be quite uncomfortable.
We were meeting family members who recently relocated to Sacramento. We had a great corner table and were able to talk and "catch up" easily. Food was delicious, service was excellent. Couldn't have asked for more! Will definitely go back.
Savory bread pudding for brunch is truly amazing. All dishes being served looked gorgeous. Definitely the place to go for a delightful & delicious brunch.
A friend’s Birthday
Service was great and food was amazing. The chicken dinner for two is amazing.
Magpie is simply excellent! The food quality is amazing and the ambience/service Top Notch.
Salmon - outstanding
Watermelon Salad - Lovely
Porkchop - Slightly overcooked
Best place to eat in Sacramento!
As always, Magpie is a great place to go for brunch. Remember to make a reservation. It is the only way you can ensure a spot on the weekend.
Awesome little restaurant in Midtown Sacramento. Outstanding, creative menu offerings well-prepared by a courteous wait staff. We were celebrating a special occasion and it was a little pricey but well worth it. Thumbs up from everyone in our party of six. Good job!
Magpie Cafe is one of our favorites. We started with Mojitos, which were beautifully prepared and hit the spot at the end of a sweltering day. The Polenta appetizer was a nice mix of flavors and textures. My husband ordered the swordfish special which he says was outstanding. I ordered the ribeye medium rare, and it was exactly the right temperature. We splurged on the ice cream sandwich which was the perfect compliment. I can't recommend Magpie enough.
Food was disappointing Not bad but not exciting or as flavorful as hoped. The menu seemed the same as always and not interesting
Great service and food!!
Magpie Cafe is our most favorite place to eat in Sacramento. Great food locally source!
Today we had ice cream sandwich. Best in Sacramento. Yummy!😁
Excellent service! I will be coming back!
A very enjoyable brunch, trout omelet was excellent
Incredible food!! Had both specials and we were very impressed. Drinks were also lovely and reasonably priced. Will definitely be back.
It was our first time the Magpie and we loved it! Great service and food.
I love magpie. It’s a favorite place. And it’s a perfect place for our 29th anniversary.
Everything we ordered on the menu, including vegetarian dishes, was good! The service was also excellent. We plan to make another reservation in the near future.
It was our 29th Anniversary! What a nice restaurant to spend our 19th in. We enjoyed our meal and our server. Ty Magpie!
The food and service was outstanding. The chicken for two was so delicious.
Sitting outside at Magpie is heavenly, soaking in theMidtown energy and enjoying beautifully prepared and creatively plated food. The chef is a master with seafood, pasta and his transformation of seasonal vegetables into flavorful and exciting flavors that still let the beauty of each vegetable shine. Service is exemplary!
Excellent locavore, California-fusion cuisine. They prepare dishes thay you wouldnot or couldnot prepare at home. Their food is imaginitive and delicious.
Great I’ve all experience food quantity for value gets 5 stars! Service was a bit slow to start but server was able to make up for that before the end of our brunch.
Service was VERY slow. 20 minutes after she brought our drinks, I had to flag her down to take our orders. The place wasn't overly busy and every time we looked for her, she was just chatting with coworkers. It was also uncomfortably warm in the restaurant.
Went here for a ladies brunch. I LOVE that they take reservations on the weekends; a definite plus. Food was well prepared, the coffee was good and the server was great to us. Spent more than I would have liked, but it’s worth trying again sometime.
Stopped for lunch -wonderful menu for salads ceviche and sandwiches. Excellent cocktails and very good wine. Best of all was the service. Our waitress was wonderfully friendly and attentive. Food and drinks came out very fast. Would definitely go back
Amazing food and service. Ordered the pork belly app, burger, and clams. Everything was amazing! One of my Sacramento favorites!
Breakfast was excellent for all 5 of us. I follow a plant based diet and they were happy to accommodate me. The others ordered the black rice with eggs and French Toast and they were both a hit. Service excellent as well.
