Loved it! We had the 1st reservation so it was like we had the whole restaurant to ourselves. The food was great, the server was attentive, atmosphere was quaint! Worth a visit!
I was quite shocked about the taste of the food. There was a lot of hype about this restaurant, and the quality of the taste wasn’t there.
The food at Magnolia's is delicious and the service is great! Will definitely plan to eat there again when we revisit Alexandria.

The food is absolutely great and was delivered to the table fairly quickly. We enjoyed the upstairs dining room ambiance quite a bit. The service was a bit stiff, but the waiters were also carrying bar and hostess duties as well.
I recommend taking a look at the menu and having your orders in mind prior to your arrival.
The noise level as the dinning space filled got quite a bit loud. It is a small space and the space has an echo. Not unbearable, but expect a lively environment while eating and chatting yourself.
Would recommend absolutely as, of course, it is a staple of Old Towne!
I won’t be back. The food (chicken and waffles) was okay, chicken strips breaded with cornmeal and tasteless waffles.. How do you mess up waffles? The collard greens were good. When we arrived for our 6PM reservation the door was locked. Frustrating was an understatement, especially since I had to hold our reservation with a credit card and then the fear of canceling our reservation and paying $25 per person. Oh and no walk in seating. Our waitress was amazing, especially since she was the only one working, literally. One and done!
Server, Nick was great. Loved the Blackened salmon salad! Great evening
Everything was great, the restaurant, location, staff and food was Scrumptious.
I thought the ambiance and location was nice. I had the southern Benedict and the biscuit and gravy was great, egg cooked perfectly but was really disappointed in the fried chicken. The breading fell off the chicken that was kind of tough and also didn’t have much flavor. The crab dip was good, very spicy but the server asked our preference when ordered and we like spicy. I thought the bread served with it was a strange choice it seemed a little stale. My friend got the
Incredible southern cuisine in a classy yet not too fancy setting. Highly recommend the crab dip, mac and cheese, and gumbo.
The Food Was Hot (in temp) from the first to the last bite.
Phenomenal experience and meal!! Exquisite Deviled Eggs!! Fall off the bone tasty ribs with smoking sauce!! Amazingly Good Buttery Cornbread!! Excellent plant based fried chicken and sausages with peppers.
Leo the owner actually shared history of the building and family ties to the area. Continued Success!!
My new favorite restaurant in Old Town- & it’s black owned :)
We took my husband to Magnolias on King for his birthday and were not disappointed. The space is small, but quaint and the food and service was excellent. It was our first visit, but certainly won't be our last!
Date night with husband !!!!
All of the food was amazing but those biscuits were absolute heaven! I’ve never had biscuits that good!!!
Been here twice. The food is really good, but the drinks are eh. Love the brunch menu.
Thank you for your review!
Was not impressed at all. Had shrimp and grits. Too much grease floating on my grits. Sorry!
Thank you for your review. Just to clarify, the "grease" is actually blackening butter. Have a nice day!
Food was excellent and service was outstanding. Strongly recommend readers to dine here. Meal was prepared with love.
Thank you for your kind words! We really appreciate the support!
I was charmed to pieces. Food was delicious and the service was excellent. Will return early and often. Hope this review doesn't make reservations harder to come by!!
Thank you so much for your review! We really appreciate it!
The seafood omelet was outstanding. Can't wait to visit again.
Thank you for your kind review! Glad you enjoyed your omelette!
Food was amazing, service was great, decor is so cute!
Thank you so much for your review! Glad you enjoyed your visit!
The good was amazing!!! Absolutely delicious! Great portions.
Thank you so much for your review! We really appreciate the support!
The food is fabulous and delicious. Arrive hungry as portions are generous. Service was exceptional and personal.
Thank you for your review! We appreciate the support!
Amazing food! The staff is courteous, attentive but not overbearing. I truly enjoyed myself and will return soon!
The ambience itself is very basic but the food is amazing. Great great shrimp and grits and salmon and grits!
Service was great and the food was delicious! This was our first time at Magnolias and it won’t be our last. I had the waffle grilled cheese with tomato soup and french fries and my boyfriend got the souther fried chicken benedict with a side of grits. If you told me the waffle grilled cheese was the best selling item on the menu I’d say it’s still underrated, it was so fabulous. Everything was really. Can’t wait to try more of the food!
Everything that we ordered was as expected, the door was flavorful and prepared with care. We had gumbo and shrimp and grits as our main courses, delicious! The standouts were the collard greens and the macaroni and cheese, they tasted like they came from our Grandmother’s Christmas dinner table. The service is impeccable. The servers are very attentive but don’t hover. They do keep an eye on you so if you look like you have a need they are right there to assist. I highly recommend You give Magnolias on King a try but definitely make reservations.
What a great review! Thank you so much!
The food was delicious and was a nice step away from typical flavors. We had stuffed dates, crab dip, blackened salmon and mushroom ravioli and each was perfect and flavorful. The almond sour cocktail was light and interesting. I highly recommend this place.
Amazing Southern style food in a cute little place. Every member of staff was friendly and helpful. Food was delicious. Prices were very competitive to the area and a good value for what you get.
ABSOLUTELY Phenomenal!!! If I could rate this restaurant 10 stars I would. The food was AMAZING!!!! and the staff was a pure delight. I brought my husband here for Fathers Day dinner and he loved it. We ordered the spicy crab dip as an appetizer and let me just say, spicy is my thing but this was not just spicy, it was flavorful (you will hear this word 20 more times). It came with toasted baguette slices that were toasty and tender (where they do that at). For the entree's my husband had the chicken and waffles which he has identified as the best chicken and waffles he has ever eaten. And I myself dinned on the juiciest, tenderest, crispiest and fantastically flavorful country fried chicken with mashed potatoes, topped with a creamy sausage gravy...Oooooh child and let me not forget to tell you about the greens. The collards....FLAVOR packed. Not bitter or hard, just tender and melts in your mouth. We paired our meals with an Old Manhattan, made just how I like it, STRONG! Everything single thing about the experience was amazing but there was definitively one thing better than the food...and that was the people.
Ours waiters Nick and Vanessa were kind, knowledgeable, patient and they even gave us honest recommendations based on their favorite dishes. They allowed us to bounce meals ideas off of them and every had a few suggestions for pairing. Thank you Nick and Vanessa for your subject matter expertise. And a HUGE THANK YOU to the owner/chef/hostess, Mr. Leo. Yes, you heard me correctly, the owner of the establishment is not only the chef but was also the hostess that sat my husband and I that night. The amount of humility and humbleness from this establishment is what made me love it that much more. The level of respect and love for each person is felt as soon as you walk in.
The food was so gooooooooodt, that I tried to go back the very next morning for brunch. Unfortunately for me, they were all booked and I couldn't get a seat (tear).
The food and service here was excellent. This was my first time going to Magnolia's on King and it certainly won't be my last. I went with one other person, everything we ordered was on point! It's hard getting a reservation there but after eating there I can see why.
The food was just okay…somewhat bland…the waiter was seemingly argumentative when comments were made about the quality of the food…these two things alone are enough for me not to return
Love the food and ambiance!
We’ve wanted to dine here for a long time and it was absolutely worth the wait! Attentive and friendly staff. Perfectly seasoned and prepared cuisine. Excellent menu options. Just simply a perfect dining experience.
Love the ambiance of Magnolia. The food is good, the decor is so beautiful- it’s a vibe! Def will come back for a girls night!
The food and service were OK but nothing to rave about. I can say been there, tried it but not somewhere I'd go out of my way to visit again.
I love supporting Black owned businesses, and this is my new favorite!
My friend and I really enjoyed our brunch at Magnolias! We ordered three entrees, three drinks and an appetizer to share. My friend favored the seafood omelette and my favorite was the shrimp and grits—-BOTH delicious and packed with flavor. The French toast was also good—the bananas and nuts made it really filling and those flavors meshed perfectly. You won’t regret getting the biscuits, they were perfect, fluffy and the homemade jam was bussing! The vibe was very chill—- nice music in the background and the space itself was very charming with plenty of character. Service was awesome and we even met the chef/owner, extremely welcoming! I will be back!
Great place - love the wait staff and the owner.
